Lindsey I know exactly how you feel I live in place in America known as Tornado Alley. Well Ohio is the very ends of Tornado Alley. It basically extends from the Great Lakes and the mid west in which I live in Ohio all the way down through Texas. This past Friday we had a major storm blow off lake Erie that produced Hurrican force winds and Tornados. Wind gusts in this reached 100 mph. It was amazeing one minuite I am comming home from my friends and the skies were black the next min I see one of my trees rip right out of the ground. That was a site to see Good thing I got in my basement quickly. It wasn't a twister that destroyed the tree. It mainly was the 100 mph wind gust. But the storm it self had rotation and it was produceing a tornado. It went from my town Akron Ohio to Pennsylvania within 45 minutes and that is fast because I live about two hours from Pennsylvania. It was one hell of a storm.

So I know how you feel Good luck Lindsey stay safe your in my prayers.

Paramiteabe... :fuzblink:

DarkHoodness 05-23-2004 03:13 PM

Ooh, good luck with that. . . Hope you'll be okay. Remember to be safe, and hide underground if you can. . . If you're hiding in a basement, cover yourself with something solid incase the house collapses. And keep a mobile phone on you, with fully charged batteries, and if possible, a torch. You also may want to keep some food and drink supplies with you. . .
My advice might not be worth much, but it's what I'd do.

We got a big screen tv in the basement covered floor and more. nothing is happing for now The town over is have a tornado now and is heading this way. sory for the spelling im freak out now as of now.

DarkHoodness 05-23-2004 03:39 PM

Erk. . . Well, don't worry, okay? Try and relax, read a book or do something else that'll take your mind of it. I know it's against my morales, but "Ignorance is bliss", as they say. . .

. . .

That didn't really help, did it? I'm sorry.

Tornados. Heh. One did some pretty heavy dmage in Fort Worth a couple years back. There's an occasional one around Dallas, lots of watches. and a plathora of severe thunderstorms. That's how it goes here in the spring/summer/fall; hot and humid or uber stormy. Then in the winter, it's just either cool or cold. Psh.

Sadly though, the soil in this area is extremely poor for basements. I believe Dallas is also placed on a fault. Or maybe that was some other place. Whatever. In my house, there really isn't a safe place at all. Reasurring.

So... tornados... Back in Oklahoma many years ago, there were 27 touchdowns, if I'm not mistaken. I was up in Northern Oklahoma where there was some pretty nasty shiznit going on. Damn scary. I was little, elementary level.

And... though not related to a tornado, I once had a loose tooth. I was wiggling it. There was a bad thunderstorm + a tornado watch outside. There was a loud lightening crash. I had a startled reflex. I ripped my loose tooth out. It hurt, and bled, and took up a little gum. Damn that hurt.

Mac the Janitor 05-23-2004 04:42 PM

Arizona.

I think it's safe to say I won't have to worry about any tornados.

oddguy 05-23-2004 06:21 PM

I used to live in Indiana, and I lived through a few tornados myself. I remember one time my cat got out when a tornado warning was in effect. I was about 5 or 6, and I remember being soooo scared.

lindsey 05-24-2004 12:03 PM

Dave 05-24-2004 12:43 PM

Eee. Tornadoes. New England doesn't get many of those.
I think that's kinda funny, though. In a cosmic sense. I mean, jeez, stuck in a basement for three days? I'm sorry.
But hey, at least you still have a roof!

Anoying... eh?

Dave 05-24-2004 12:51 PM

Yeah. Rain does suck
But snow is still cool. Can't argue with that.
Snowman brutality is great.

Al the Glukkon 05-24-2004 02:29 PM

A lot of tornado watches and warnings in my area. No tornadoes, just a funnel cloud.:sleepy:

Mac the Janitor 05-24-2004 06:16 PM

Rain is worshipped here in Arizona.

Ahh, I love the rain.

oddguy 05-24-2004 07:40 PM

I love the rain as well. Especially when it comes with dark clouds, lightning, thunder, and power outages! :D I don't know why, but I enjoy just hanging out in the dark with a few friends and flashlights. No tv...no interent...no distractions. It's a setting like this, with the power out and all, that inspires great conversations and thought provoking discussion.

Dipstikk 05-25-2004 01:26 AM

Hey, I used to live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It's no picnic during a Tornado.
I do miss the winter weather, though.

I live in England, Rain, clouds, rain.Sometimes sun. Can be hot or cold.

Boring...

Esus 05-26-2004 03:03 AM

England has one of the most boring weathers around.
never earthquakes/volcanos/tsunamis etc
never floods (here anyway)
hardly ever has lightning or thunder
Its basically cloud, bit of sun, bit of drizzle, thats it.

ANN NEELY 05-28-2004 03:46 PM

I live in Indiana, and we had a tornado warning here yesterday!
Luckily, it was nowhere near our town. :D It was scary, though. My ferrets had to be loose in the bathroom because they're cage won't fit through the door. We had to put the gerbil cages in the closet, which I'm sure they didn't like.

Sekto Springs 05-28-2004 04:38 PM

Out here we have thunderstorms, big ones, every day-every hour. It's fun but It gets boring after a while, I don't think my car's window-wipers have ever been off.
