Darky's Art 3

Well, okay, so it's unlikely that this topic will be updated often, since I don't do many drawings. Although I do have 2 that I've done sort of recently. . .

NOTE: You'll have to copy and paste the links in this topic.

This is a background I created using Photoshop 7.0 in collge. Not very interesting, but still looks nice. Used my starry background, some pictures off of earth and moon viewer;
And also I used the lens flair to make the sun, and some color filtering effects to make the whole picture look nicer.

The next picture I have is a small map of the location for Dark Hood's Shack in Furcadia, which I made for a friends wedding (I was hosting it), but it isn't uploaded anywhere so you'll have to wait until I get home before I can show it to you. . . *is at college*
Ah, it's not too interesting anyway.

Augh, lensflare, bad karma, bad karma...! ;) Seriously, you done good, Ed - I need a program that can produce outer-space-type pics so I can design the cover of my book (that is, once I've finished writing it) (don't get excited, anyone, I'm self-publishing. Blargh). Maybe I'll have to hire you - if you're ever around, that is... ;)

I think lensflare is typically disliked just because (usually bad) cartoonists put it on their pictures to show "light glinting off a sword" and stuff.

Edit: Look, see? Haloes! *points at the winks*

DarkHoodness 05-23-2004 03:53 PM

Nah, Lensflare is a good little tool for making stars, I think. :) Haven't found any more uses for it yet, though.

EDIT: Oh yeah. . .

Here is a screenshot of a map of Dark Hood's Shack, a dream in Furcadia which has taken (on and off) 1 and a half years to build as it is now, although it doesn't look like very much at all. . . I'd show you the whole map full size, but that's over 5mbs and I'm not uploading that to Angelfire. . . And no-one want want to see it, anyway.

Oooooh, that one in space is superb! I wish I could produce digital artwork. Sadly, my comp is old and slow.

Damn computer! http://69.93.88.162/forum/images/smiles/madatputer.gif

I have a new background set. Those clouds were getting old.

Alector 05-24-2004 01:02 AM

Hey Ed!
You always seemed to love the space. The first picture makes mee feel that I'm looking out of the window and see all these planets, stars and the whole space, which is just black.
I miss the Aliens....that's a joke. ;)
I have one question...do your characters still exist (Blue, Bladewing, X2000 and the others...) ?
Is the program you use able to make landscapes?
Keep on doing this.

I want to see more light effects, stars and planets!

DarkHoodness 05-24-2004 02:05 PM

I used Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and M$ Paint to draw the Moon and Earth pic. Normally I use different combinations of programs to create different effects. M$ Powerpoint is good for tiling full-screen backgrounds, for example, and M$ Publisher is good for re-colouring pictures to make them one single colour, rotating images, and a couple of other things. Using inititive is a good thing. :)

To create the landscape, I used Furcadia Dream Editor, which is used to make your own 'dreams', or landscapes for the Graphical Chat Internet-based game, Furcadia. That's just a screenshot of the whole of my 'dream', which uses mainly default Furcadia components.

Anyway, yeah, Bladewing, Blue, X-2001 and the rest of 'em are all still active characters. Only Dark Hood, Blue and Bladewing are used on Furcadia, but them and the rest of my characters are used in other computer games where I can put them into, such as Worms, or Smackdown.
When I have time, maybe I'll do more with them all one day. I was thinking a little while ago that maybe if I learn how to use Flash, I could make flash animations with them. :) I have the skills after all. . . For the time being, I'm going to try and do Multimedia at college next year and 'learn the ropes', so to speak.

Cool.

Since you told me that Blue has become a human, I thought to draw a coloured picture of Blue. It's now one year old. Actually, I wanted to send it by letter to you but I always forgot it.
If you allow, I can put her into my art topic.

:)

DarkHoodness 05-26-2004 12:06 AM

Sure thing, Claud. :) I'll have to repay you someday for all the pictures you drew for me. . . And I should've responded to your letters ages ago. . . Shows just how unreliable I am when it comes to writing letters by hand, huh? :(

Anyway, for the time being Blue is still Mudokon based, but I'll have to give her an overhaul at some point, re-designing her species when I find somewhere to use her again. She'll still be humanoid, although I doubt I'll be making her human, because I already have a few human characters (Dark Hood, Duff Dwarf, Strepo), and also she'll still be a land-based amphibion. It's what makes her Blue, after all. :)
In Furcadia, Blue is sometimes seen wondering about as a sky-blue coloured, slightly overweight feline furre, with webbed hands and feet and the ability to hold her breath for half an hour. Sort of weird considering cats aren't supposed to like water, but what the hey, it seems people like oddities like that in Furc. :)

That's great that Blue is still a Mudokon. Actually, I should draw Mudokons again, but Alector and all characters and species of his story have become humans.
But I can make up new characters of Mudokons. That's funny, though.

Writing a letter by hand is funny, don't you think so? :)
You can practise your hand writing skills and you can draw a lot of stuff in a letter.
Another thing you can do is writing a letter with Computer, print it out and send it to Germany
But you can do a very nice landscape for Alector if you want. He lives in a tropical forest. You can make my "dreams come true". Hehe

See you.

Thing is about Furcadia dreams, is that they're maps for Furcadia. . . They're not really images or artwork. Think about a custom-made level for a computer game -Furcadia dreams are just like them. Dark Hood's Shack is just simply my 'level' that I built for Furcadia. . . I'll see what else I can make for you, though. :)

Anyway, I'm not sure if this really counts as Artwork, but it's multimedia based, and no-one paid attention to it in the "What do you look like" topic, so I'll post it here. :)

Dark Hood on CCTV (copy & paste link to new browser window):
http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/darkhood/files/Dark_Hood_CCTV.WMV

It's a WMV file, 2.03MB, and it should work with most versions of Windoze Media Player. Make sure your sound is turned on. . . :)

Oh yeah. . . (sorry to double post here)
I just found these sitting around in my "Scrap" folder in my college account, so I thought I'd post them here. :)
These two doodles are ones that I did in college ages ago. One was done on September 30th, when Half-Life 2 was originally meant to come out, and the other was done later, inspired by the "Jaws" car in Carmegeddon TDR 2000.
