Oddworld Inhabitants Profiles

I was wondering if I was one of the only one to like that section?
Each month there seem to be a very little interest for it, and the only question that people recall is the famous:
"Q: Can you tell us anything about the new game or what you are working on right now?"

Personally I think it's nice to know those Inhabitants Backgrounds and Inspirations, and it makes me feel even more close to them
(ex: like Raj I like Grand Theft Auto 3, Halo, The Matrix, Futurama, AC/DC, Aliens, The Dark Crystal, and The Lord of the Rings movies)

I was allways very much interested in the devloppement of a game, but maybe it's just me...

oddguy 05-04-2004 09:43 AM

I always read Inhabitants Profiles. Sure, it's not the first thing I read, but read I do.

I like how Raj is a big robot fan. Iron Giant was a dumb movie, but the robot was awesome.

I love the Inhabitant Profiles.

Darn it, they havnt updated the Archives so I can't remember his name, but Aprils Inhabitant is the single most best Inhabitant there.
He worked on Age of Mythology for Ensemble before moving to OWI!!!! AOS is the single most best thing in the gaming world second only to Oddworld!
I loved that fact about him, because I love AOM so much...

I read it every time and sometimes I like it more than others. I guess some people are more interesting than others (without naming any names ). Strangely, the ones I've enjoyed the most are usually the ones from staff who aren't actually involved in making games, like HR or admin.

Iron Giant was a dumb movie! man you don't know what you are talking about. Then again everyone has there own tastes.

Yeh i nearly always read the inhabitants profiles first, especially if they are artist or animators profiles.

Xavier 05-05-2004 05:23 AM

I like the artists the best...
even if everyone at oddworld is a bit of an artist :)

Oddish 05-05-2004 11:12 AM

Most (but not all) art work from OWI is amazing. I realy like enivroments and facliies with all the prespective and also like the characters designes, ecspeily ones that are out of this world.

DeBulletDodger 05-05-2004 11:19 AM

The profiles are good they give you incite into what the designers of the game like about it and more interesting stuff.

Di$array 05-06-2004 06:46 AM

i really like the idea of the OWI profiles well the arty part of it for example the charater creation.

VaniLLaKiLLah 05-06-2004 09:10 AM

i don't always read that but this month it was very interesting.

hey, Alf is an OWI inhabitant right?
when will we be able to read his profile?
:p

Wil 05-06-2004 09:51 AM

I always read the Inhabitants Profiles. I can't say they're my favourite update every month, but I enjoy learning about the origins of the Inhabitants. They're also a lot better now that the question regarding Munch's Oddysee was removed. ;)

um, sorry to say this but Alf isn't real, like the boogie man, or eskimos

oddguy 05-06-2004 03:48 PM

Yeah, but there is somebody behind Alf. I wonder if we'll ever find out who that is. I think I'll just stay with the loose theory that it's Lorne! :p

Eskimos and The Boogie Man exist! They are actually called Inuits and they live in the far north (not to say they actually live in the arctic). Eskimo is actually a very predjudice name, it means "Flesh-Eater" in english, and Inuits don't respect that.

The Boogie man is a big pillow case filled with creepy-crawlies...you don't watch enough Tim Burton.

I suppose Lorne could be Alf, but seeing how he's so busy I don't see how he could find time to sort through those E-mails and reply to each one. I think Lorne hired a guy to act as the character Alf, this guy selects a group of read-worthy e-mails and shows them to Lorne, he then tells the guy how to reply.

The perfect hypothesis! It makes senses too. I bet that's how it works. That must've been pretty cool to interview yourself. :p

Xavier 05-07-2004 06:20 AM

lorne do care of what the fans think
but he isn't Alf, Alf is probably the fan relations at OWI who probably reports everything the fans are thinking and saying

Oddish 05-07-2004 08:20 AM

Umm Alf is Alfred Gamble is'nt he...? The first Fan of The Month!

Xavier 05-07-2004 08:29 AM

nope, the OWI Alf is just named after that guy

Fuzzles! 05-07-2004 08:34 AM

I read the OI profiles also, I like getting some insight into the people responsible for my favourite game!

Um, someone doesn't watch the Simpsons.

Wil 05-10-2004 09:02 AM

What's so offensive about being called a "Flesh-Eater"? I eat flesh. I had some delicious flesh with my tortilla wraps yesterday. I say that wanting to be vegetarian, mind.

Lorne and Sherry haven't done those questions, have they? And what happens when all the Inhabitants have been profiled? Round 2?

Xavier 05-10-2004 09:57 AM

could be nice...
with some more in depth questions :p

Nate 05-10-2004 01:38 PM

With only 1 profile a month, it would take a few years to do them all and by that time there would be new employees to be done, so its unlikely they will ever get to round 2.

BTW how many Inhabitants are there at the moment?

And also, what happened to all the profiles from 2000 & 2001? There are only two left! Do they remove the profile if someone quits?

Xavier 05-11-2004 07:25 AM

hmmm don't know
anyway I keep some archives from all the inhabitants profiles; so don't worry :p
