Possessing whole herds of Scrabs
In the new movies on Gamespot...where the gameplay is in Paramonia.
If you watch the movie where the Scrabs are chasing munch closely..at the beginning it looks as if the Scrabs have just been possessed..and it takes them a minute to start chasing Munch. In this months Dear Alf, Alf says that Abes chanting/possessing ability has become much greater in Munches Oddysee. So after watching that movie a few times in streaming (on T1)...it looks like they were possessed, then Abe unpossessed them giving Munch time to get by them. So...I think Abe might be able to possess herds of Scrabs and Paramites. That would be pretty awesome..! :) |
Well this would be so cool! And he can also disposses them?
|
I thought they were sleeping. I'll check again. They really do look as if they're just waking up to me.
|
I just watched it again...and I'm not sure, but it looks like Abe is at the bottom, maybe he was chanting.
|
I originally thought they were sleeping or resting or something like that too.
But interesting theory Elum. It's hard to tell as to how Abe's possession capabilities will be increased in Munch's Oddysee... whether it be the abilty to possess multiple creatures at a time, or just a larger range of creatures. However, if Abe did possess the Scrabs, one then wonders why he didn't just move them well away from Munch. However it actually looks like Munch is leading them somewhere from the movie we see. Abe Babe... |
I believe this is the scene referred to in one of the interviews where Munch has to lead the scrabs into the big cage so that he and Abe can get past.
Elum, although it's possible Abe can possess many creatures such as a scrab herd simultaneously, I very much doubt it. I don't see how you could control the individual actions of the whole herd, unless Abe can only possess them and have very limited control over them. I think the scrabs were just resting, not possessed. As you can see, once Munch enters their herd they appear to all let out some kind of screech before they chase Munch. This could be some kind of alert. I don't see the point of an alert though if they all let out the screech at the same time, who would they be alerting? I think this is just a delay the scrabs have before persuing Munch/Abe similar to in AO (not sure about AE) where scrabs sometimes don't chase for a short while after they've seen you. Sometimes they chase you immediately, other times they wait a while. |
I guess Abe can control a pack of scrabs if he possess the ALPHA scrab, the leader of the group. then he uses scrbas gamespeak to say something like "screechhht"(translate: allya!!) and control them togheter.
In the movie, probably the ALPHA scrab set the alarm first, then all the other responded to it. |
Your probably right Lampion. Pacen, if Abe possessed a whole heard of scrabs, he would control them all at once, not each individually. Dont ya think?
|
it would be awsome if you could posses whole herds of creatures.
|
Of course Elum, there's no way he could control them all individually, but I don't see how he could control them all at once. Say you're trying to move them through a passage, the ones at the centre of the group will be running UP through the passage as you hold UP, but the scrabs at the edges of the herd would be running into the walls surrounding the passage.
The only way I see that it could be possible was if you possess the Alpha Scrab as Lampion said. |
Possession in Munch's Oddyssey is slightly different to the other games...once Abe chants, you take control of a possession 'bubble' which you presumably guide to the target you want to control.
Also, if you watch the video where Abe throws Munch up onto the platform, the player switches control between characters and the camera pans to the playable person... |
Where did you get that info Luxor?
Pacen..if you were taking them through a passage, they wouldn't go in at once, they would start going in, and the ones on the side would drift in with the crowd. |
