Whats the name of this creature?

Sorry I have no picture but i describe him. It was some type of enslaved creature. I think it had 2 legs with chains attached to its mouth and its legs, to prevent it from running away. second question, does anybody know if Shrink will make it into Stranger?

Di$array 04-15-2004 12:02 PM

which of the OW games was it in ??

quidproquo 04-15-2004 12:07 PM

well none

its hasnt appeared in any so far, i think it was supposed to be in MO

Oddish 04-15-2004 12:08 PM

Quidproquo that creature is called a Kinto Slave, unluckly it did'nt make it in the final game of MO.I don't think we will see Shrink in Stranger, but we might in Munch's Exoddus;)

Esus 04-15-2004 12:12 PM

Yes, I was about to say the Kinto Slave. Someone will be sure to provide a picture of it to see if that's correct.

Oddish 04-15-2004 12:41 PM

Here is a pic of a Kinto slave:)

paramiteabe 04-15-2004 12:43 PM

Heres is a little bit bigger picture of the Kinto Slave.

These guys I think serve Lady Margret the Gluk Queen. I can't wait to see these guys appear in a game. If anyone can find a bigger picture it will be great. This is from Depths of Oddworld. One of My favorite Oddworld sites.

Small questions like this should be in the Questions and Answers thread. Seeing how you're new, I won't make a big deal, just make sure that any other questions you have are posted in the Q&A.

paramiteabe 04-15-2004 12:46 PM

Hehe Oddish we both posted the picture at the same time:lol:
But yeah SS is right this should be in Q/A.

Paramiteabe... :fuzblink:

mudokon 04-15-2004 12:54 PM

yeah i heard about them..apparently they were meant to have a sacred background and were enslaved...and their race was native to industrial(forcefully).

Oddish 04-15-2004 01:01 PM

[QUOTE=paramiteabe]Hehe Oddish we both posted the picture at the same time:lol:

Woop woop.

Hayley wins.

Alcar 04-15-2004 08:22 PM

But you still can't read what the text says ;)

:

"Munch: Kinto Slaves. Kintos were a peaceful race of mountain dwellers. Agile climbers & able to jam their single powerful toe into any crack & able to scale any rock face. Kintos never like anything ove their heads -- nothing -- no tree branches, no shelters, no hats. Maybe this is why they have no discernible heads. They only sleep and live outdoors, under the vast sky. It is only 'natural' that Glukkons would take such a race, enslave them, mostly indoors, & force them to carry heavy loads on their heads & backs."

Wil 04-16-2004 12:31 AM

:

Alf: It's hard to say if the Kinto's are intelligent or not, as their paranoia about things looming above their head sort of limits all of their other abilities. It's pretty hard to enslave a race that refuses to work in an area with say, a roof or trees or anything overhead. The Glukkons pretty much abandoned the idea of exploiting them when they found it would take an inkling of effort. But who knows, maybe one day they'll get a burst of motivation and try it again.
WTF is that if it's not ten characters?

Xavier 04-16-2004 12:44 AM

wow... damn forum that wouldn't work
you guys beated me...

anyway if you want to see a Kinto skeleton, just look at this page:

paramiteabe 04-16-2004 03:35 AM

You know what would be cool. What if a Kinto Slave became the next unlikely hero in the Quintology? Like Squeek is a Kinto and his story is to sort of to help Abe and Munch shut down Lady Margret's Hall of Larva and help Abe and Munch rescue Sam from the industrial nurserys. And for his own destany to free himself and his kind back into the wild. But not like how Abe and Munch go about their destanys. More like he has to gather all the Kintos and convince them to destroy the industrial stronghold inwhich they are liveing in and to help possably in a assaination attemp on Margret.

That would be a cool idea.

Paramiteabe...:fuzblink:

Mac the Janitor 04-16-2004 06:05 AM

I dunno, I think that'd get boring after a while...think of all the limits you'd have. All you could do is basically walk.

Wil 04-16-2004 07:17 AM

But you can walk up vertical surfaces.

It'd be Klime! all over again...

Xavier 04-16-2004 07:21 AM

I don't think it will be nice to play
and I don't feel like I want to control a Kinto during a whole game

Sekto Springs 04-16-2004 07:30 AM

Plus, Kinto's look like very neutral creatures and playing a character without a wide range of emotions wouldn't make a very good game. But, who knows? Maybe Kintos have great personalities.

paramiteabe 04-16-2004 10:06 AM

What and you think Abe and Munch are very synificant? Besides you wouldn't be controling just a Kinto you will be controling all three. Well imagine if you were controling Abe, Munch and The Kinto and since Kintos can climb up walls and be upside down well that would be simply odd. not to mention your controling a one leged fish that rides around in a wheel chair and a blue schmuck who has bad gas and sneaks around like he is on some kind of drug. Personality is not all what makes Oddworld odd its also the way things move. When we first saw AO on the comercial the first time we saw Abe sneaking. It was soo wierd then we saw Munch which is a one leg thing hopping around Abe and seeing Abe carry Munch aswell as Munch rideing around in a wheel chair. Imagine all those things we saw in the previous games mixed with walking upside down as a Kinto. All I know is every new unlikely hero in the quintology thus far is getting wierder and wierder.

Munch now is odd Abe now seems normal and not as odd as Munch. Whats the next unlikely hero going to be? It gets more and more outragious every time.

By quintology's end we are going to be controling five characters that are very different from each other in their own way. Its getting stranger and stranger.

Oddish 04-16-2004 10:31 AM

I'm still wondering whats the *beep beep* creature from one of the inhabitants profiles said. At first i thuoght it was squeek, but now i just dunno. It's gunner be a very cool creature!

EDIT: It's funny, one time me and a friend first played AO. When Abe said "i dunno" we thougth he said "banana"?LOL. it took us a while.

Wil 04-16-2004 12:22 PM

I swear Abe says "Elano." He does!

And PA, controlling a Kinto would be great fun, but so is controlling Paramites and Sligs, which aren't heroes of the quintology. Plus, I doubt OWI would have let us seen the 3rd Quintology hero so early on.

EDIT: I thought about that character a few days ago, Oddish, as I was making my Stranger summary. Could be one of the characters we already know about. *spooky music*

Mac the Janitor 04-16-2004 02:15 PM

Yeah, the Kinto will probably just be possessable.

That would be fun, but I doubt it'll be a hero since the slavery story would be much too similar to Abe.

Disgruntled Intern 04-16-2004 10:20 PM

Possessing a slave is like raping a homeless person.

It's low, and you just shouldn't do it. Jerks.

Wil 04-17-2004 01:49 AM

We've possessed Sligs and Interns. Mostly, they're little more than slaves.

Disgruntled Intern 04-17-2004 09:11 AM

Yet I get the feeling they enlisted, you know?

I mean, Interns are alleged pill poppers, so why not go 'work' for the Vykkers and have access to free drugs?

And sligs, hell, they get guns and barraks. Kintos get chains and beatings. And the word 'slave' in their title. Not something I'd sign up for, myself.

DeBulletDodger 04-17-2004 09:31 AM

Does anybody think that the meeches might be introduced into the story a bit more. I mean there is a design sketch, I know that means nothing but still i think it could cross into the story somewhere maybe in the background of one of the next games.

Alcar 04-18-2004 12:00 AM

For the hundredth iteration, Meeches are apparently in existance. However, they are in scarce numbers, kept secret some place by the Glukkons.

Alcar...

DeBulletDodger 04-18-2004 05:52 AM

Sorry i wasn't aware of this

but thanks for telling me

Wil 04-18-2004 08:21 AM

DI, I know Sligs and Interns aren't called slaves, but they’re little more than such. They get paid, true, and some break out and become big shots, but Sligs at least don’t enlist – they’re sold to the Magog Cartel by Skillya. They don’t have any choice. Interns, I’m betting, are luring into their jobs by offers of music and drugs. It’s a lifestyle that does suit them fine, but I’d wager they have the potential to be so much more, just like most stoners, if they could get their acts together.

Sekto Springs 04-18-2004 08:43 AM

Interns may be able to make themselves drug-free, but even if they did they'd probly still be SnUzi-crazy, twitchy-eyed, madcaps. That's just what I think, but maybe not, maybe some day the Interns we'll gather up and start secret Self-Help groups and try to get off pill popping. :p

DeBulletDodger 04-18-2004 08:46 AM

That would be damn crazy and incredibly funny!

Disgruntled Intern 04-18-2004 09:37 AM

Max, I totally forgot about the sligs being sold off. My mistake.

Nate 04-18-2004 02:19 PM

I think it's a great idea for a kinto to be a quintologean. I mean we know nothing about them to say whether they have an emotional reange or not but if they are going to keep all the old characters as they add new ones then each is going to have to be able to travel into different areas (eg munch could swim, abe could jump to high areas) and have different powers (maybe the kinto's religious beliefs give them some powers?)

Alcar 04-18-2004 06:37 PM

The problem is, they don't seem to display a greater intellectual capacity. It is made more known, by the fact that a Kinto is placed into the Wildlife category (as by Oddworld Inhabitants themselves). I doubt we'll ever get to see a Kinto rise above anything more than a creature.

Alcar...

Mac the Janitor 04-18-2004 07:25 PM

And anyways, OWI has always been very careful to give as much expression as possible when designing main characters...just look at Abe and Munch. You have to be able to show a ton of emotion to get sympathy for these characters' stories, and Kintos just can't express it.

Up to and including Munch's impossibly large eyes. Kintos are interesting looking creatures, but as has already been said, they are considered "wildlife" I think the previous theory about a rat is more likely, as they are supposed to be both intelligent and (what with their huge eyes) also expressive. But what would its story be? Eh. There's plenty of information to back the Ratz as well as denounce them. The next quintology hero will probably be a completely new species. Though a Rat-print moon would look pretty interesting.

Nate 04-19-2004 01:26 PM

Do you think it is necessary for a quintologean to be able to talk? I got the impression that Ratz couldn't. And they're also wildlife. And also, the point I was trying to make is that you may say that Kinto's can't show emotion but seeing as we have only seen a few pics of them its hard to tell for sure.
