Abe and Oddysee cast to appear on TV
 

This Spring, the mid-season replacement series Game Over will open with an episode that will feature our heroic blue Mudokon with others from Abe's Oddysee. The show stars the Smashenburn family, a bizarre household comprising a Grand Prix racer, a monster-fighting agent, their children, and their un-PC canine pet, as they try and survive their life in a video game reality. It sounds like a fascinating program in itself, especially given the "real" cyberstars that are promised to feature, but Oddworld's cameo makes it especially eye-catching to us fans.

The show airs on UPN, which is a station we don't have here in the UK, so it looks like I'll be left in the dark for a while as usual with these things. However, the rest of you should look forward to it. Credit to Rick Burgh for informing me of this.

Well, this sounds very cool indeed. It reminds me of that one time when there was going to be a web series of Oddworld with some group working with GT Interactive. Unfortunately the site that had it saying coming soon, never changed. Its a shame though I had really been looking forward to that.

Oh yes, the Online Animated Oddworld Series, or something like that. I was really looking forward to that, I wonder what did become of it, besides the obvious of it being scrapped. Were there certain characters and stories scheduled to appear? An incredible promise - unfortunately it happened around the same time as MO.

Yeah I think it was scrapped primarily because it was planned almost around the same time Oddworld Inhabitants decided to go over to Microsoft and Xbox.

Well, for those who wondered it was intended to be made by Eruptor, and the reason why the project was canceled is because Eruptor Entertainment closed (can't remember why).

Oooooh, I'll be able to see this because I have UPN! Yay for mwah! Is there someway I can share it with you less fortunate folks though? If there is any way, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Wow, must suck for you people without UPN. Waitaminute... I don't have UPN! Damn you, Charter Digital! Oh well, as if I couldn't just get it off the web. Heh heh. Sounds k3vvl. Actually, the series sounds pretty stupid, but the fact that OddWorld is going to be on mainstream television is pretty sweet. I don't think I've ever even seen an OW commercial around here. Anytime something cool comes up, it takes about a decade to reach us here in western WA. If you have to live in Washington, live in Seattle, 'cause the rest of the state is crap. Okay, I'm done ranting.

Well I get UPN and Im sure I'll be sending you all another copy if you want one, however don't rely on me too much this time I've been really having to focus on school lately (part of the reason I don't get on the forums much anymore.) so I might not be able to..but I'll try my best. ;)

To answer your question SS, unfortunately we have not obtained any new information on OW4. :fuzsad: Yeah UPN usually just has reruns but a show that will have Abe on there for a guest appearance, hey thats not too bad.

The only oddworld commercial I ever saw was around early november of 2001 right before it was released, I saw that one with abe munch and a bunch of mudokons. :fuzsmile:

oh well, all we can do now is pray we get some info by Feb.

Anyway, i believe they only aired one commercial, but i think they made about two or three right?

Yeah Im pretty sure there was more than one, I just only got to see one of them.

We had an MO TV ad over here, but it wasn't like any of those that can be downloaded. In fact, all I remember about it was that it had a short except from the shot where Irwin raises various surgical instruments - and it looked swot. :fuzsmile:

I never saw any oddworld comercial on tv over here, only programs that have some oddworld cg in their generic

I remember a Munch advert on TV. All I can remember is hearing either Munch's or Abe's voice saying something. I dont think I actually saw anything because I was preoccupied which was rather disappointing.

Hopefully they should show at least a bit of the fmvs, as it has already been shown at the festival.
I think it's pretty certain that we'll be seeing a bit of gameplay, but perhaps this is the same gameplay as what was shown on X-Factor, as the "advert" did make the Stranger part out to be pretty small...

I just watched it and loved it.

Abe sneaking by was great, and the three species attacking that fat purple walrus guy (I think his name was Turbo) was pretty cool. And the show turned out to be funnier and way less cheesy than I thought it would be.

God dammit, I missed it.

I looked in the TV Guide and realized it was at 7.

And that was at 8.

Just saw "Game Over." Seriously sucked, and nothing I'd plan on watching. Great concept, but the show had terrible writing. Sure, a couple laugh worthy parts, but really altogther very lame. I thought the Oddworld cameo would be better, but it was just okay. Nevertheless, I'm going to get you guys a quicktime movie version of the Oddworld scene in "Game Over" so you guys can see it.

EDIT: Oh, Mac...the show is replaying on friday.

The only thing I liked about the show was the Oddworld cameos and a couple of the jokes ("Why is he taking off his pants?" and the one about Thomas and the green pet). Ok so that's 2 things. But, now that I think about it, they could have done a better job with the show.

I honestly thought Abe would be, like, they're neighbor or someone that Patric Warburton talks to on the phone.

And he's like "Hello, who's this?"
And Abe says "Hello."
And then whatever Patric's character is says, "Oh, hi Abe."
And Abe would say, "Follow me."
Patric: "Um..."
Abe: "Wait."
Patric: "You need to stop calling this number."
Abe: *fart noise*

But, the cameo with the scrabs, slogs, and paramites cornering Turbo was kinda fun to watch.

I would have liked to hear Lorne Lanning's voice in it, however.

Yeah, I thought there would've been one voice cameo at least. I was a bit disappointed.

I was expecting something funny like that as well. That would've been hilarious. The thing is, us OW fans would've been the only ones getting the joke.

Oh, I also saw a Crash cameo on a Got Milk billboard at the racetrack.
