Most popular forumer?

Who would you say is most popular and well known here at the OWF?

-oddguy:fuzcool:

lindsey 12-07-2003 10:59 PM

ME ME ME well I picked me :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

oddguy 12-07-2003 11:11 PM

I picked Alcar because everybody knows him and he is super mod after all. Most well known forumer I think.

Oh, and the people I put on the list are people I see here all the time, so if you're not on the list, I didn't see you.:fuzwink:

-oddguy:fuzcool:

DarkHoodness 12-07-2003 11:54 PM

I may be a veteran, but it ain't me, that's for sure. Maybe I should be known better on OWF. . . Hmmm.

Anyway I dunno who to pick. . . I can't choose favourites easily.
Sort of pointless me posting this really, ain't it? *Is bored with backing up all his files onto CDs*

Majic 12-08-2003 12:05 AM

Naturally, I'd say myself, but I'd beel like such a bastard if I woted for myself it wouldn't be funny. I'll actually have to contemplate.

Codek 12-08-2003 01:11 AM

I really can't say I support this sort of thing...

It makes all your less frequent posters feel bad.

Treat your forumers as equals

I didn't mean favorties....just the most commonly known forumer. I picked Alcar as best known forumer, but he isn't my favorite. Sorry Alcar.:fuzwink:

-oddguy:fuzcool:

Al the Vykker 12-08-2003 02:28 AM

Well there are many that I cant even begin to list all of them. So instead I picked me so I wouldnt make anybody feel bad. Sorry I was greedy this time. :p :fuzwink:

Joshy 12-08-2003 02:40 AM

As the selfish bastard i am, i voted for myself muahhaha. Everybody should vote me becoz i'm so cute and fluffy:p

paramiteabe 12-08-2003 03:16 AM

I am not one for greedyness I just need to pick some people that come to mind.

I would have to say Alcar, Majic, Xav, Abe Babe, Al, Max, and Mac, and Jacob, and Oddguy.

These people I believe are probabally the most frequently supported members on here. We are all great in our own ways so I give cheers to these people I see them mostly supported all the time. That doesnt go against anyone else its just what I see.

And I know I am probabaly not really a popular one here but I am a member now assistent Mod and artist here to stay:D

Thankyou
Paramiteabe...:fuzblink:

Alcar 12-08-2003 03:48 AM

Oddguy, there's no need to apoligise. Though regarding this thread, when will Wolfpac's next lot of Forum Awards be due?

Alcar...

Majic 12-08-2003 03:56 AM

Indeed. If it's anytime soon, I need to start scrounging for bribe cash now.

I do like ya though. Yer on my buddy list. Oh, and about Wolfpac's Forum Awards.....I haven't been around for those. What exactly goes on?

-oddguy:stare:

Alcar 12-08-2003 05:26 AM

Forumers vote for members that best fit a category. Categories can be anything from "best newest member" to "best poster" to "worst member" ;)

Alcar...

Facsimile 12-08-2003 06:04 AM

Alcar. He's scrumptious.

RavenMM 12-08-2003 10:06 AM

Jacob.

Codek 12-08-2003 03:48 PM

This is really dull and pointless. What will picking out the most popular poster achieve?

And remember that the most popular poster isn't always the most liked.

This will just produce arrogant peeps who think they're something else because they are "most popular poster". I'm sure of it.

Fez 12-08-2003 03:53 PM

*silence*............................lets kill him.

Rex Tirano 12-08-2003 05:01 PM

I'm not voting cos i'm not on there!!! Why'd ya forget me!?!?!?

*goes off in a huff*

I'm with Death. He has a point. Anyway what the hell is the point of this? To higher your post counts? Kinda spam, though not the kind of funny or entertaining spam such as "The Person that Posted Above You"

Amen.

Yes, things are dull around OWF, so I thought this thread would be fun. If yer not having fun, no need to post in here really. If I've offended anybody, then a mod can close the thread down by all means......but I think this is just a case of Death showing up on our peaceful forums to start a stupid controversy over nothing. Sorry Death, I like you......but you do have a history of making a big deal over nothing my friend.:fuzwink:

-oddguy:fuzcool:

Mac the Janitor 12-08-2003 08:37 PM

I voted for me, because I am obviously the awesomest member here, and you all are too thick to see it :p

oddguy 12-08-2003 08:53 PM

Yeah Mac, in a contest of most awesomest member, I would vote for you!

-oddguy:fuzcool:

racla 12-08-2003 11:25 PM

Well so far it looks like Alcars winning the vote...hmmmmm...

Majic 12-09-2003 12:57 AM

Oddguy said it himself, earlier in the thread, that it was more of a most well known. That provides a tad of comfort to my arrogant self. Then it would probably be Alcar, Xav or Max. If it was really popularity, I'd go Xav. Not one damn soul can hate him.

Cloverfield 12-09-2003 09:58 AM

I actually agree w/ Death on this one. I hate popularity contests. They are always having them over at FFE, and I refuse to post or take part in them. I don't really see a point ... we are all equals. And you usually find that the popular members are the ones who "chat" with everyone on MSN, etc or lead a very active forum "social" life.

Abe Babe...

oddguy 12-09-2003 04:58 PM

Thanks for backing me up, Majic.

Sorry you feel that way Abe Babe.....I wasn't trying to make anyone feel less than equal. To tell you the truth I was just bored and thought this would be fun. May I just add that I've seen more useless threads than this that don't get attacked. I'm also polite when it comes to threads I don't like. I don't go around trying to be annoying and point out it's pointlessness. I hardly ever start a thread, and when I do people get all high and mighty on me. It's just a thread. If ya don't like it....don't post in it. Quite simple.

Actually in truth, we are not all equal, if we are, the world would be running under the communist idea. Plus my enforcing the idea that we are all equals, that is actually from christianity, as Jesus always proclaim to treat everything equally and shit. But if the world is all equal, how stupid would that be? i cant pay out people any more... and tease people.... or say i beat you in some competition lolz.

Codek 12-09-2003 08:35 PM

I raised the issue of popularity contests being unethical because I thought it needed to be considered. And Oddguy you can't dictate whether or not people post in a thread.

We don't need these stupid popularity contests. They only serve to prove that you have more of a life on the board than you do off it.

I'd rather be unpopular on a forum and have a real life than be popular on a forum and end up having to stay in all the time just to hold on to my position as a moderator and contributor.

I have no disagreements whatsoever with giving some of our more genourous posters a bit of recognition, but we all know who they are.

EDIT: In response to Joshy's post:

While we aren't equal in the sense that we all have different appearance and skills, we are all equal in the things that we deserve. If someone is nasty, they deserve punishment, if someone is good, they deserve praise - no matter who they are. You cannot measure goodness, and it is wrong to prioritise those who are most good over those who are least good. We should come together and persuade good and bad people to do more good, and reward their goodness equally.

In an equal society like a small forum, arguments occur when people feel like they are being treated unfairly. Being treated as though you are less equal than someone else, even though you make a valid contribution, is a bit like being told that your efforts are wrong.

If I would've known that my thread would have offended you so, I wouldn't have started it. And I didn't say I was dictating who posted in the thread......you said that I said that.:fuzwink: I said that if you didn't like a thread, there was no need in posting in it......A simple suggestion really. I didn't like your HATE THREAD. Didn't see the point, but I was pollite and didn't hassle you about it because yer a nice kid.:fuzblink: I just wish people would show me the same respect.

Yes but my hate thread actually had a real purpose, and had positive affect on the forums. It allowed people to vent their anger.

Are you implying that I don't get out enough, or I have a lack of a real life?

Alcar...

Well you see you have a silly question right there. Lacking a real life is a symptom of not getting out enough.

But I can see where you are coming from...

Firstly, how much time do you spend on the net? Secondly, how much time do you spend off the net and out with friends/socialising.

We are talking per day here.

Compare the amount of time you spend on the net with the amount of time you spend in real life "living" as it were. If you spend more time on the net than you do off it, then you don't get out enough.

Alcar 12-09-2003 11:33 PM

Over the past few months, I've been slipping from the internet. Things that used to provide great enjoyment, no longer provide that enjoyment. I find myself confided to very few sites, or forums.

Because of this, I have had to find other avenues of enjoyment. One being a more active outside, social life. What I now try to do is, I'll go out with friends - and when I return home I feel refreshed. Personally, it is easier to post here when I haven't spent the entire day here waiting for someone to post.

I'm happy with this approach, and it works for me. My interest in Oddworld, and these forums has been boosted greatly. Just by distracting myself :)

(Which explains why I've posted in GD a lot recently)

Not really. You kept getting upset because people were replying to the vents when you told them not to. It was pointless, but that's beside what I'm getting at. You see, I didn't complain about your thread when it was up. I was pollite and kept unkind thoughts about it to myself. Can't I get the same respect here? If you get upset at something on a forum, someone is lacking a real life like you keep pointing out. I don't get angry at people on the net because it'd be like getting upset at words on a screen.

Anyway, I'm not mad at you and I hope your not mad at me. We just have differing opinions I suppose. I still consider you one of my forum buddies!

Al the Vykker 12-10-2003 12:39 AM

Its sometimes hard to get here everyday to just check up on how things are going and checking things out over in FC, etc.

But somehow I manage to do that. While being involved with a bunch of stuff at school, keeping very high grades, hanging out wtih friends, going to see movies, doing homework.

The way it works is strange but I seem to be able to devise simple schedules that I can still fulfill my duties in moderating here, while maintaining all the other stuff pretty well too.

An example of one schedule of my week from todays events is this:

Woke up at 6:00 A.M., Showered, dressed, ate, brushed teeth, etc.

Went to early bird Jazz Band at 6:50 A.M.

School Periods 1-4 / 7:40 to 3:15

Came home, had a couple friends over to hang out for a few hours.

Went back to school at 6:15 P.M. to play with the Jazz Band at the Home Basketball game.

While then juggling Show Choir Musical Combo practice after that. Until 8:00 P.M.

8:20-9:30 made some time to come here and check things out and respond to a few threads, while checking up on some other news on other sites.

Now Im going to finish whats left of my Math homework that I didnt finish at the end of Class. So after that I will probably check one last time here, put a DVD on or read a book, then go to sleep to start a new day with a different schedule.

Well sorry to bore you but there was one day of the week, some of the schdule that was not preset was just improvised with how things were shaping out with the day.
