I'd be interested to know where this came from. Way back at the start of last year, we were told that a picture of a Slig without a Mask would be released a GDC (Game Developers Conference), but it never eventuated. If this image was released at that time... I wonder how Nathanton (who is a member of these forums too) came across it. If you're around Nathanton, perhaps you could shed some light on this for us Oddworld fans who expected such an image to be released almost a year ago now. Abe Babe... Nathanton's site says that the picture was sent in by Xavier, so I guess we have to ask Xavier from where he got this picture. If it's really an official OWI picture, not a fan art, it is a great one! :)

Ah OK... I hadn't checked the translation until I got home (I was kind of at work when I posted my last message).
Although I would have thought Xavier would have put the image on his site though (exclusive for Oddworld News instead). Plus Geocities is really annoying for linking from the forums (no offense meant to Nathanton's site, I just don't like Geocities). In that case, I re-phrase my question... I didn't upload on Oddworld News because Psykobee have no time to do it

Anyways, i know that altavista.com has a translator. It's really bad, but it lets the point get across. There are some REALLY great foreign Oddworld sites, and i often use that translator. Any other translators than that i have no idea about. ps i could just be really naive, but i have heard this name a lot. what's babelfish? is it an isp? i need a new one that can run through LAN and is compatible with and ethernet card. (wow, three subjects in one post. i must be slipping...again...) |
Wha?! Well, I'm glad to finally see an unmasked slig, but it kinda looks just like a normal slig.. I expected some reason to have a mask on, but their face looks normal (well, for a slig)

All these months of pondering, and it's as unfreaky and un-ugly as that? I'm pleased that I finally know what maskless Sligs look like (and congrats to Xavier for finding it!), but in a way I'm disappointed. I wanted them to look so very exotic, otherworldly and alien. And that's it. With hindsight, I'd have preferred not to know. I'd rather it stayed as a dark and mysterious secret. |

err... well, it's not quite up yet. When it is though, it'll be cool. I'm snagging as many pics as I can (While always adhering to proper netiquitte, of course), to build the ultimate Oddworld biology lesson- darwinian charts of different ecosystems, info organized by species, possible missing links, etc. It's going to take a lot of work, though, and I need some expert interviews (HINT HINT HINT HINT HINT!!!!! Aren't I subtle?)
