The debate thread about debate threads...

This is the debate thread about debate threads.

Do you enjoy these debate threads? Do you want to kill Gri...I mean, whoever started the whole debate thread idea?

Here's your chance! Join in the debate of the century!

What is your opinion on this truly controversial matter?

OANST 08-03-2003 09:15 PM

I was ripping you off just because I said shut up...?

Please, grow up. Not everybody has seen your fabulous "signature polls", and not everybody is just copying you.

OANST 08-04-2003 12:22 AM

daaaaamnn giiiirrrrl! You tell it like it is chica!

Joshy 08-04-2003 04:15 AM

Yeah the debate thread is cool after i saw whats getting debated. But i didn't bother debating there coz the post there is so long and cant just interrupt the debate.

GrigtheSlig 08-05-2003 06:00 AM

HEy Joshy, your totally welcome in to interupt heated debate any time you want, Mac always does.

I hope nobody wants to kill me!

And, sorry Mac, but old and not so tasty did start the whole "shut up, I hate you," and so on, you just need to find your own thing.

Wil 08-05-2003 06:51 AM

Nothing wrong with debate threads, unless they're stupid enough to try to encompass all sorts of debates. It's a Forum, there's plenty enough room for individual threads so people can't get all confused. I've decided not to go back to Grig's thread because it got so huge and would have taken me half the weekend just to reply to everyone with all my thoughts, whereas separate threads could actually stay on topic.

GrigtheSlig 08-05-2003 04:34 PM

But we miss you Max, I thought that you were the only one that was learning anything!:(

Mac the Janitor 08-05-2003 04:46 PM

I just don't like it when people will try to make a debate, instead of it naturally starting because of a squabble between members. You know, just let it happen when it happens.

Grig, what I was trying to say earlier was that I don't believe I've ever seen Old and not so tasty's topics where he supposedly started this thing. I didn't "copy" him intentionally, okay? Although I do consider him a cool cat and enjoy reading his posts, I don't know why he jumped to that conclusion...

GrigtheSlig 08-05-2003 04:47 PM

I still don't get the point of this thread?

does it have your name on it? Did you copyright it? Did you patent it? NOPE! so buzz off and stop complaining

I just noticed how three or four debate threads just popped up at the same time, and I was getting annoyed by them. I just wanted to see if anybody else felt this way.

I don't remember learning anything in particular. What did you think I learned?

TheKhanzumer 08-05-2003 07:01 PM

I actually like the debate thread, since if it had been called something different I probably wouldn't have been dragged into it. This was the first time I'd ever had to support my beliefs in that sort of logical, back-and-forth manner. I learned a little, to make up for whatever Max didn't.

OANST 08-05-2003 09:41 PM

I was messin' with ya mac. I should have made that more apparent. I know you don't know me very well yet. I took no offense and hope you wont either.

Phew, great. You seem like a real cool cat, though. Do you have AOL or AIM?

Sorry I said all that stuff. I should have known you were just foolin' around.

OANST 08-05-2003 11:55 PM

I have neither of those things. Believe it or not this is about the only place I go on the computer.

Facsimile 08-06-2003 03:50 AM

Just to clear this up, if anyone owns the 'shutup I hate you', it would be BatteryClock, as you can see here.

Boy I cracked up when I first found that in necrum.

Why thank you Khanzumer! I thought that Max was listening to at least some of what me and others were saying! I think that reading the BIBLE would do you some good Max, you'd be soo cool if you did! You'd be my favorite forumer!:D

oddguy 08-06-2003 04:27 AM

Well, let me just say that I've been reading more of my scriptues ever since Grig's debate thread came along! I usually just talk to those that believe what I do. I find it very interesting to see what others think...and it's funny to watch the arguments! :D

But now...I'm really getting tired of the debate thread becuase it's all of the same lately, and then I leave for an hour and 50 posts sprout up all over the place when I return! It's Madness! I agree with Mac that the debate thread is gettin' a wee bit annoying!

I must say that the Debate thread is very addicting though!

GrigtheSlig 08-06-2003 04:34 AM

How could anyone agree with Mac??? J/K!:D

I'm glad that you have been reading the BIBLE more latley oddguy! I like the Debate Thread, I think it was a good idea of mine!

Wil 08-06-2003 03:56 PM

Listening to what other people are saying, I always try to do that. I was just worried you meant 'learned' as in, erm, well, adopting some of your own policies. :p

I did try reading through the Bible once, but I got to Exoddus before boredom got the better of me - it was the Tower of Babel, if I recall correctly. Perhaps I will try again, but like music and art, reading is something that got lost with my work ethic in the last year. I should finish reading Dune first.

TheKhanzumer 08-06-2003 05:37 PM

You can't really read the Bible like a book and expect to get anything out of it. It takes study and guidance to really understand what is what, when things are literal and when they are symbolic and stuff like that. I still think it would be interesting, even if you aren't religious. There are a lot of interesting stories hiding in that book, even if the religious/morality part makes you gag.

GrigtheSlig 08-07-2003 04:48 AM

Hey Max, they have The BIBLE on Tape or CD! Just invest in a nice set of that with a portable Cd or Tape player and your on your way to a new way of life!

But seriosly, the BIBLe is a great book if you want to feel al special inside as if everyne in the world loves you!

Wil 08-07-2003 09:21 AM

You're right Khanz, but it's not the morals that bore me, nor am I worried about studying and finding meanings. It's still reading, since it's printed on a page.

Grig, maybe, but since I already have a Bible in book form, it would be cheaper, plus I don't have to listen to how somebody else reads it, I can look at it on my own. It's just a matter of finding the time and effort.

GrigtheSlig 08-07-2003 07:25 PM

You should make time and give some effort, you won't regret it! I mean, you could cut down on the Video games and Forums! Yes I know, how horrible! I read my scriptures everyday and I still get on the forums and play VG'S

Wil 08-08-2003 06:43 AM

I think my geography coursework, TOE, my personal site, my work ethic, trombone practice, redeveloping my loves of art, music, and reading and overcoming my selective mutism all take priority in my life, so not for some time, eh?

Wow. You must have read the same bit a hundred times by now.

TheKhanzumer 08-08-2003 02:34 PM

That selective mutism you keep mentioning seems like a real shame Max. Is it like shyness, or did you used to think not talking was cool or something?

Anyways I honestly hope you get over it. Communication is a wonderful thing.

Wil 08-08-2003 04:26 PM

Thanks Khanz. As far as I know it's just a psychological thing, but I don't know much about it, but Jaime watched something about it (ZombieX), but he neither comes here anymore, not does he speak to me any longer (no pun intended). I did find http://www.selectivemutism.org/, I hope that helps.

I never thought it cool, no, but other people did. I think I just got used to it, but I'm sure it was brought about by simple shyness when I moved to Norwich School - completely new everything after 8 years of growing up with the same people.

There, a tad off-topic, but it's off my chest and everyone can find it. Thanks again.

Everytime I read my scriptures I find something new. You can't just read the whole thing and know exactly what it means. Many parts of the Bible are filled with hidden meanings that need to be explored. The book of Isaiah is a book that really takes hard study. I read that one a lot! It has lots of signs of what will happen in the future. Of course, it doesn't just come out and say it...you have to look through the types and shadows. Isaiah uses events from his day to fortell events from the future. It's just like the saying, "History repeats itself." Sorry, I'm ranting about the Bible again! :D

GrigtheSlig 08-09-2003 04:37 PM

Yeah, Isaiah is a really good book! I was thinking about starting a Bible Study Thread! So we could study the Bible!

oddguy 08-09-2003 08:20 PM

I dunno if I can take too much of these religion threads.

GrigtheSlig 08-09-2003 09:27 PM

I think it's a good idea!

Facsimile 08-10-2003 07:42 AM

That is a bloody stupid idea. That's great you having a religion and all but you are bringing this forum into it horribly.
What's the bet I will get out of here and it will have been made.

GrigtheSlig 08-10-2003 02:01 PM

I haven't decided to do that...yet. I'm sure other people would like it. You can come if ya like, but I'm not forcing you.

OANST 08-12-2003 11:26 PM

grig didn't bring religion to the debate thread. Someone else did. Check sh$t out before you start flailing about.

MrBoj 08-13-2003 12:15 AM

FLAILING!

I like debates. People really defend themselves to the end, even when they are obviously at a loss.

I say more religion, more lucifer, more cheese, and more unfunny jokes about each others sexual orientation! hotcha!
