I really hate this "Death" name I got. Makes me feel depressed etc.

Would it be at all possible to have it changed? If not, do I have permission to make a new name on OWF?

No i dont think you can change your name, if you've been here for too small time, if everyone who joins say they dont like their name, the admins would be very busy changing ppls name.

My name puts across completely the wrong message, and it is very depressing. I have already reserved another name by registering it, and it has been submitted for moderation.

You're not allowed to do that you know its against the rule... such as hacking.... and multiple account, sounds familiar doesnt it?

Hmmmz if they make double accounts they would be found out... anyways, people dont want to make another account coz they want to keep the original account, since they made quite alot of friends on that account. If you made a new account, people will think your're someone else.

Well, I guess if your sick of it being depressing, you could always add a smiley face for your avatar. And use yellow text. That would be a good laugh, a person with the name "Death" but with happiness showered like golden sparkles over his posts....

And I have to say I totally agree with adder. I was seriously contemplating a double username. And that isn't good.

Can I ask how difficult it would be for you to change my username? I personally can't imagine it being that much effort, and therefore can't understand the problem.

Maybe if I had my username changed and just added a note in my signiture saying that I used to be Death?

It is not difficult... you just have to retype the username. But the point is not it being difficult or not. If we just change everyone's username when they ask it would be quite annoying.... and anyways, you should've thought about your username before you joined.

The admin will always changed your username gladly if you have a reason and been on the forum for quite a while. No use in changing someones username if they gonna leave next day.

Look at my title Joshy, just look at it! I am the assistant manager of the Oddlympics. Does it look to you like I am going to be leaving any time soon? No, I didn't think so.

I am going to be playing a major role in these forums over the next few months what with the new Oddlympics on the horizon, and I will be very much in the public eye.

I am the only one, as far as I know, who has asked for their name to be changed like this. It isn't like there is a queue of rampant users behind me ready to wayleigh you all in work...

I am also not suggesting that you make a habit of it either. To be honest if all the evidence pointed to me leaving the next day, I think I would know about it and would therefore not give a piss about what my name was.

I don't mind which name I have, I would just prefer a different one. Mystic Vykker sounds alot more oddworldish than Death, and I want to keep that oddworldish theme for the new oddlympics.

Oh yeah, and one other thing, you aren't even an administrator, so I don't know why you are even posting here. I don't even care either. Just bored I guess...

And I think the phrase is, set an example. And I share your concerns, but if I am so unique because I didn't think about what name I chose when I signed up, then what have you got to worry about? Or more precisely, admins who actually play an active and helpful role in this forum.

Because having multiple identities is against the rules, at least without justification. Changing names isn't, as I've seen it happen.

Plus, i dont think they want to add new mods, and oddlympics doesnt need any more mods. There is bigger forum that only have one mod. Oddlympics is what you call big. I'd like to post a statement made by Abe Babe. It will put to shame quite a few arguments here.

Actually, OIPT staff members have nothing to do w/ OWF. OIPT itself is a totally different identity to OWF, it's just that we gave them a sub-forum to put all of their activities in. They don't have any power (other the OIPT staff who are also forum moderators). So really, myself and Peter have no say in who is what within the OIPT. We just gave them custom titles.

Also, the OIPT does already have a few staff members, however, those five or so staff members don't have Moderator-ship to the OIPT Forum. Even Majic, the OIPT Manager (second in command) hasn't got Moderator access to the OIPT Forum.

Well actually, you are wrong there. I DO need to be a mod. I need to be able to close threads (For when betting has ended), I need to be able to change thread icons (Once more for when the betting has ended), I need to be able to close threads (So that I can close Important: threads that I don't want anyone replying to), and I need to be able to post announcements (So that I can announce important stuff about the betting).

I am the assistant manager, and therefore need to be able to take things over when Mac isn't there. Surely it is possible to give me these powers but restrict them to just the OIPT sub forum or perhaps Oddlympics sub forum if we ever get one?

I seem to remember, that when I was a moderator for a special part of blizzforums, they had to give me special moderator abilities so that I couldn't do anything to anything unless it was in the place I moderated...
(This was mainly because me and the admins didn't really have the greatest of mutual understandings.)

So I am sure it is possible. I will send a PM to Abe Babe and also one to Alcar so that they can both understand my (and Mac's) position.

It would be a shame for Oddlympics to go down the pan now after we have had so many new ideas!

I understand where some of you guys are coming from with not letting him change his name, being he is still fairly new around here.

If that was the case why a member who shall remain anonymous had his name changed. He was a newer member who wanted his name changed because he acted a bit strange.

I just think death has a reasonably good request for why his name should be changed. I mean I would rather see Mystic Vykker being asst manager of Oddlympics, rather than Death( I like the name death still, but for something oddworldish here an oddworld name would suit you better).

Everything happens for a reason, a good one at that. That user's name was changed because his parents disaproved of him using his real name on the internet. Sort of a security issue, what with all these hackers/padophiles/etc.

Majic and the other OIPT members are not Moderators, and should they not be able to close threads, etc as well? They can live with it, and have done so for quite a while.

I am nothing to do with the damn OIPT, I am the ODDLYMPICS asstant manager. And Mac is the Oddlympics CEO. Mac (as far as I can see) is a moderator. Therefore he can do all the things I need to be able to do.

I am now a bit weary of how much I should trust you Alcar, as there is obviously something going on behind the scenes that I really should know about.

Okay, first of all, I must state that I don't mean to anger anyone or offent anyone with anything I'm about to say in this post. I would just like to explain a few things.

I do not consider myself an actual "mod", since I was not voted into the moderator position like all the other mods, and the sub-forum I'm allowed to "moderate" isn't an actual discussion area or anything, it's just a place to hold activities.

Alcar, I'd like it if you could change my custom title thing to not say mod. Many people misunderstand it, and it gets very tiring. Plus, I don't want people to think that I actually consider myself a mod.

As for Majic and the other members of the OIPT not having mod access to the OIPT sub-forum, that is because they do not actually run any of the activities. They are the behind-the-scenes people, who help come up with the ideas and everything. So the mod "powers" aren't necessary.

(I do not mean any offense to Majic or any other OIPT members, and I do not consider myself higher than any of them. They do great work. Just thought I'd make that clear.)

But in our case, we come up with the stuff and run the thing. It would just make things much easier for Death and me to run the Oddlympics if he was given the moderating access to the OIPT forum. He and I wouldn't need to have the special Oddlympics Moderator custom titles, or even be listed as a moderator. We just need to be able to do the things to the Oddlympics as mods can do to normal forums, but without being considered a mod.

Again, please do not take this post as an argument or order or anything like that. It is only an explanation.
