Oddworld should begin on their Motion Pictures!?
Ya know now that I think about it I beleive that Oddworld should start making films now. The games are great but the films of the games are even better. A solution to this is that OWI should split into two companies like Lucas Film and Lucas Arts. Thats a game and film industry. Lucas Arts does games for Star Wars and Lucas Film obviously does the movies. I can see a place called Lanning Film and OWI where OWI is the game industry like now and Lanning Film would be the place where they would make specifically the Oddworld movies and only concentrait on the movies. That way side by side we would have the movies comming out the same time as the games so we don't have to wait for the motion pictures. What do you think?
I think this is clearly not what should be done. OWI is only a small company, so I can't see it being divided further. No, I say keep the whole team working together, though not necessarily on one thing at a time. For one thing it would be a lot more simple, definitely for us, and I would imagine Lorne and Sherry. They need to keep track of everything that's going on, and I can't see them doing that so easily if there are to separate companies. I say leave things as they are for the time being. We don't need the films now, OWI should concentrate on repairing the damage Munch did via Steef so that Lorne can confidantly progress with the quintology. Perhaps after ME we can start getting really impatient for the films - although maybe it would be better if we have all the movies come after the entire quintology, that way OWI can keep the whole thing consistent. Urg, so tired.
I say OWI should focus what small team they have on the games for now. Prehaps go over ideas for the movie once in awhile but we should wait to see how well the rest of the games do first before the actuall movie. The more the fans they gather over time the more money they can make on the movie.

OWI is good as a small company. Small company employees have better working relationships and generally have been working for a while at their company. Making a company get bigger usually results in hiring more people, and as the company grows more people are hired and the working relationship isn't as strong and people don't comunicate as well. It's not anyone's fault, it's just a fact of growing companies.
And splitting a company is hader to run and a guy like Lorne might loose a little creative control. I say keep OWI the way it is. But then again, I'm not an expert so your idea might not be that bad paramiteabe. |
I would certainly love to see the movies but I am willing to wait until they feel that they are ready. As long as they are continually working on something.
Yeah Paramiteabe give them some time to think but you know when you think of it it would be cool to see abe chanting and you could see Mudokons go through potels.
Yea I guess your right keep the company small and wait after the quintology. Yea thats better. But it would be neat if they made a short animated Oddworld movie to get us prompt for the motion Picture.
Originally OWI was gonna start making movies after the QUINTOLOGY was done, I wish they could start making them now though. :(
I think I prefer to see the movie only once the quintology is done... first games, then movies, and then maybe some other games
so there wouldn't be interferences between the projects |
How about inbetween the games, their would be a movie, to show what's going on while you aren't playing!
don't forget the movies are also for the people who didn't play the games... so they will have to follow the games storyline and add thing, I think they wont directly do a film without a direct band with the games
Also, when you make a movie, you want people to see it, so it will make moolah. It's easier to get a movie funded, when you have a huge fanbase. I think as we delve deeper into the Quintology, more OW fans will be born, and the game will be more popular. I'm not sure if people, other than fans, would see a movie like that. Not because they don't like it, but because they don't know anything about it. Also, I don't think the movie would have any famous actors, and movies make money when you have a hollywood name to paste on it. Take the "Rugrats Go Wild" movie for example.(haven't seen it) Rugrats and Wild Thornberries both have huge fanbases, so why not put the both together. But there had to be a famous actor name with it, so the parents of the children would go see it. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, OWI should make movies after they build more fans. The only way to do that right now, is to keep making delicious games!

:
the film are going to be all in CG you know... like in the game fmws |
Actors can mean the people who only provide the voices, Xav. It's still acting, since you have to have the empathy and emotion.
ah... well okay sorry, lets act like if I didn't said anything :fuzwink:
*walks away shamefully" |
Maybe OWI could make another deal with sobe! If you collect 25 sobe caps, you get a free demo disk of AO,AE,and ME on xbox, and a free ticket to see the oddworld movie!
But could a movie bring in more fans than what a game does?
Its been known to happen look at Star Wars. They started makeing movies well before any game. And guess what, ILM started out as a small unknown group of talented young people includeing George Lucas himself who had that vision. But they began Star Wars through film makeing then did games at the same time when they made films. The question here is can OWI do what ILM did? But with Oddworld I don't think it will happen. Since OWI is getting their success through games I believe their on a role. |
sorry but most of the StarWars Games aren't that good... some are even realy bad
I hate all STAR WARS games ith a fiery passion! They're not like the movies at all! Oddworld could probably pull off making a movie, but how would they get the money to make it. OWI has money I know, but movies are expencive! Would they go with Paramount, 20thCentury fox, Warner Bros, ect. I'd love to see a odd-movie, but I don't know how they'd get the money :fuzconf:
Hey, what if OWI did a movie about oddworld before the game started. Then at the end of the movie they telleverbody to check out the games! |
You mean an Oddworld Prequel? Thats interesting. What happened before Abe, how did he get employee of the year with Molluck? Or how did he become the best darn Floor waxer on Oddworld?:D We can see his Birth from Sam.
Yeah a prequel, that's how you spell it! It'd be so cool to see life in oddworld before the glukkon dicktators! paramiteabe, empty your sent messages folder so I can PM you!
an oddworld prequel? sounds good but they will have to re-release the first games
Why will they have to? Not that I'm saying I don't want it to happen. We could even see all the AE: The Movie footage that we've all been hankering for. Plus bung in SligStorm. :fuzwink:
:
so the Abe film (there were originally 5 films planned each one introducing a new hero, like the games) we could have: AO, AE and SS |
I think that it would be awesome if they re-released all the games, and added more to MO! that would be cool!
I don't think that will happen before a couple of years... MO is only out for nearly 2 years now
Do you think they should release AO and AE out again as being 3D now like Munch? Just going back and redoing it. That would be a bold move.
I don't think remake AO and AE would be a good idea... those 2 games are just perfect, don't touch at them :fuzmad:
:fuzwink: |
I'm not saying make AO and AE 3D, I'm just saying they could put it on Xbox and Inhance the graghics a little!
hmmm that sounds good, but I doubt OWI will do that as soon...
those games aren't even 10 years old |
All the Oddworld games are so storybased, I dont mind wating for the film. Munches Oddysee took me at least 20 hours to get through, the OI team did'nt have to limit themselves (much) with thier creative freedom, they did'nt have to think "Ok, we have to tell this whole story in less than 2 hours." for any Oddworld game. The longer they wait for a film, the better they can squeeze 20 hours of gameplay, into 2 hours of film.
