Wanna-Be

Why do geeks try to be cool you have to be born with it I mean all of you are cool but Geeks are sooooooooooooo not cool.

Joshy 06-18-2003 01:36 AM

Kinda spammy and i cant really understand.... but everybody is cool in some way....

BTW close this topic, pretty pointless...

Facsimile 06-18-2003 03:08 AM

I don't believe in this whole "cool" thing. But either way shut up.

Cloverfield 06-18-2003 06:54 AM

I'm keeping this open, cause I think that Jacob will have a field day on this one. As he knows all about Geeks trying to be cool and that, I think we'll all be able to laugh at his comments. ;)

Anyway, I'm not cool, I'm just average. Never tried to be cool, and never wanted to be. I'm just me.

As for geeks, I guess they want to try to be cool as they realize they are different, and then try too hard to fit in.

Abe Babe...

Abe16 06-18-2003 06:59 AM

Thank you Abebabe I know a one myself theres this girl in kindergarden she says all like "Dang" or "Ughh Whatever" pretty funny huh!

Alcar 06-18-2003 07:06 AM

Geeks like everyone want to fit in with the "cool" crowd. I've seen it happen at my school, and I really don't like it at all.

Be who you are, and nothing more.

:

Be who you are, and nothing more.
What if you don't like who you are?

It's not the geeks' fault. It's the 'cool' people who won't accept geeks as equal people and just sweep them aside, or worse humiliate and/or upset them. Geekiness is just a personality trait, and it can easily sit alongside coolness. It's only modern society's views of the two that prevent this from being a commonplace occurance.

Few, now that that's out of my system...

Nath 06-18-2003 03:52 PM

:fuzcool: cool.
:fuzconf: confusion.
And on that note, I bid you farewell.

But technically speaking, there should always be people who eat pie.
Hopefully with me saying that, you have worked out that I am cool.:fuzemb:

Those people who don't care about hurting geeks feelings are pretty uncool.

Reptile 06-18-2003 04:25 PM

they are born that way i guess

Jacob 06-18-2003 04:55 PM

I don't think they're born with it, i think its some kind of medical condition, which in a way is scary. I'd hate for my child to be a Geek, to be outkast from life and not live at all during their school years, years which should be looked back upon and told to the next generation of kids, along with small anecdotes and such. I have many amusing [to me anyway] stories, most revolving around my manipultiveness...but thats not the point. Geeks shouldn't even try to fit in because in the end their highers will just ridicule them completly.

I wouldn't call myself a higher [although i so obviously am, lol], i'd rather not be thrown into the category of Trendy (Preppy/Jock for you Merkins) or anything else that is top of the social ladder. I prefare to be in my own class, Trendies value each others opinions and can easily be damaged emotionally with a few choice words. I consider myself to be a Drifter as i can get along with any social group if needs be. Some Trendies however can really annoy me, there is not one social group that hasn't annoyed me and felt the viciousness that i can spew. A couple of months back i saw a Trendy i didn't really like with a couple of old friends, whilst i was talking to my friends the person in question kept making snide remarks. In the end i used the fact that she was image concious against her, making a referrence about her hair, weight, stature, complexion and then finally sexual exploits. This lasted for around 90 seconds as i joined it all in one, sort of like this, give or take a couple of remarks -

"Oh please, your one to talk. Lil' Miss perfect you soooo are not. The only thing your perfect at doing is looking like a cross-dressing heterosexual guy. I mean, what is with that clash of colours. Although i have to say that shade of red does bring out your acne, even through the tonnes of makeup you've obviously applied to yourself. Doesn't do anything for you though, you're still a victim to your own dillusion."

She then tried to argue back to which i hushed her and carried on -

"Please don't speak when i'm speaking, if you actually manage letting me finish i'll buy you 5 big, greasy beef burgers...i'm sure you're used to having greasy things in you're mouth...what with the people you've been with. Which is an obvious statement to you're looks...cos, who else but [censored the name] would allow an overweight, obvious bleach blonde, wanna-be wanted creature like yourself perform such acts on them??"

She tried to argue back but i shushed her somemore and then she quietened down abit, but i digress...

Geeks are put on this world for us highers to guide our children on what not to be. I would like my kids to follow in my footsteps and be a callous, manipulating bitch when needs be and not form overly tight bonds with too many people, cos evidently they will let you down. But yeh, Geeks should be put in some giant Geek-like enviroment (like a remake of a Star Trek base or something) and we should be allowed to take our kids there and say "You see that, don't be like that...if you become one i'll bury you alive in the back garden..." before taking part in pushing random buttons and watching as certain occurances take part in the enclosure which will cause the Geeks great distress (such as the burning of Star wars paraphinalia or the destruction of a giant mould of Dr Spock...that along with flooding of the enclosure and the loosingness of Tigers...).

Abe16 06-18-2003 06:44 PM

:| :fuzblink: What a epic story.

Reptile 06-18-2003 06:49 PM

geekiness is a medical condition?

Abe16 06-18-2003 07:16 PM

Geeks aren't just computer freaks...most people say "Oh i have loooaaaads of friends, i can't be a Geek..." turns out their quality of friends are actually Geeks...

Nath 06-19-2003 05:04 PM

Some people call me cool, other people call me sad.
But the people who call me sad, I beat up.
Does that make me cool or what?

Geeks are freaks, freaks are geeks. Which one are you?:fuzsad: (Geek or freak).

How many people herre can actually say that they have never been a geek at one point in their life. I know I can, or can't :fuzvamp:

So my point is, I have no idea what I'm on about. :fuzmad:

One oddicon said "I'll be back":dodgy: And the other one said "Who cares?"

Never been a geek in my life

Miss Odd 06-24-2003 02:46 AM

We have the cool people at school, and I'm somewhere between... I'm not really sure. All of my best friends are geeks, and they just like me because of 'who I am' and my other friends just like me because of what I have, or what I can do.

That is what, I think, distinguishes the cool people from the geeky people.

In my school the cool people are the idiots, so I'm happy that I'm not 'cool'. :fuzblink:

Anyway, I'm not cool, I'm just average. Never tried to be cool, and never wanted to be. I'm just me.
I thought you were cool

ratman 06-30-2003 12:36 PM

not all geeks try to be cool. Most of them do. There was this kid at school who got on my nerves trying to be cool. He kept saying "man" but he has an accent so it really sounded stupid. He also was fat and went around saying to our teacher at lunch time that he cant live an hour with out food. Everyone laughed.

oddling 06-30-2003 10:23 PM

Sometimes it's really annoying when geeks try to act like they're all that. I don't mind if they try to act cool, as long as they leave me alone and aren't hurting anyone. But the ones that pick on you and crap and try to hang out with you and be mean are just stupid and should get a life. And then they call me a poser. I'm not really trying to be anything, just myself. I hate when people call you a poser for liking the things you like. People try to make me like things I don't, and not like things I do so I'm not a poser. The heck with them. Lemme tell you guys now, just be yourself, don't try to be someone else to fit in.

Disgruntled Intern 06-30-2003 11:18 PM

I don't really care how 'geeky' people are. Some of my really great friends are 'geeks' and that's fine with me.

I have geek qualities. I love comics, computers, and video games...as well as learning, but I still maintain my unique brand of social mediocrity.

Though I'm a bit of a self made social outcast, people still like me and call me 'cool'. I tend to ignore those people since, like jacob, I'm obviously much higher up on the social ladder.

Ha.

Facsimile 07-01-2003 02:47 AM

Argh! I see this word everywhere! What is a 'poser'?!

And I have never seen a geek try to be 'cool'. I have seen average people try to be 'cool', but I never a geek. I don't thinks geeks have a desire to be 'cool'.

paramiteabe 07-01-2003 03:48 AM

It depends on how you look at the context of the word geek.

I consider myself a geek because I am a creative person when it comes to creating works of art. I love Science Fiction and Fantasy and Video Games. I love strange things. I am going for a profession in Illustraition and story boarding which is mainly being a conceptual artist.

I have a bunch of other friends whome like me are creative in what they do. Mainly thats what my life is about. just being creative and liveing the way I want to and hanging out with my buddies and not being the typical "COOL" guy out there. Because we do things more indoor like as oppose to outdoor. Just pretty much being a different person who likes to be creative or just likes to do things that other wise "cool" people would say "your geeky go and play sports or something! Or "Your not normal doing the things you do!" Then I say "Well yea I guess I am not normal because I am unique and creative and your normal friend!"

I guess what I am trying to say is being a geek in the context I explaned is being someone who is not with the normal crowd the Oddball pretty much.

Jacob 07-01-2003 12:49 PM

I don't think just because you don't play sports you're a Geek, i hate sports and was always crap at it...i can remember playing Cricket in PE with the shouting...screaming...squealing...the latter being me...the "THROW THE F*CKING BALL YOU F*CKING PUFF!!" and then i throw it...and then its "TO ME YOU F*CKING MORON!!"...yes...i always hated PE...My girlie throw and run made it worse...and there were cute guys in it...so i was always forced to look down at my feet...incase they saw me looking at their bodies...i'm determined to turn some of them though...yes...Grrrr...

Anyway, moving swiftly on from my rant about PE...Geeks are classified by random characteristics...to me, the creatures on this forum are Geeks because they want to get sensual with Abe and Munch...and now, probably, Steef...which is wrong...Although Squall Lionheart is cute...the guy he was based on is cuter...

Reptile 07-02-2003 07:11 PM

What do you mean cute?

Jacob 07-02-2003 08:57 PM

Good looking...attractive...gorgeous...

Disgruntled Intern 07-03-2003 12:05 AM

Geeks were originally side show attractions in traveling carnivals.

You paid to watch them bite the head off of a chicken.

oddling 07-03-2003 01:04 AM

Really? Okay, then I know a true geek, seriously. o_O Matt you poor poor soul you....

Canned Gabbiar 07-03-2003 07:48 AM

At my school, there are no such thing as nerds or geeks. There are however two categories:

Normal:
People who don't try their best and don't study as much as possible.

Techs:
Anybody who gets 3 or more HDs for any set of exams.

Well, I'm a tech according to that definition. But then, I'm also normal since I have never tried my best or studied very hard for anything.
