I'm sure many of you have seen the update on the Oddworldinhabitants.com webpage, with the link to the brief footage of the new ODDWORLD game..

But I thought some of you would enjoy downloading it (instead of streaming it), and watching it full screen.

The footage is very brief (A few seconds), it looks like one of the new characters is a hunter or poacher of some kind.. :eek:

EDIT: DISCOVERY CHANNEL will be airing a show on the 20th of this month (Upcoming Friday), in that show first footage of the next ODDWORLD will shown. The Discovery Show cable show which will be airing this is called X-PLAY, and it will be a documentary of XBOX or something..

Is the last 2 thingies actual gameplay? Cos it looks rubbish...

Oh god no!! I didn't expect the original characters to appear, but god! Please dont tell me the guy in that .mov was the main character! I hope he's the bad guy. This show hasn't been advertised on N.Z tv's yet... Hope it is aired here.

i think thats gameplay from MO, anyway what i see is some creature (with a hat on it looks) sitting on a log, then some creature with a weird face (look carefully) swings a gun at him, the creature dodges and scurries down the log and the guy with the gun shoots at him, it looks awesome, i want more! anything else?

Supermunch, look carefully. The guy shooting had a jaw that swung down far in front of his face, contrary to the other guy, who had a "regular" face with more humanoid-set proportions. I think the two are hunters or poachers, yes, but they are two seperate people.

this seems real cool, i hope hes the bad guy too! cause that seems like kind of a not oddworldish character. thanx G xis

I have a theory.
Perhapse these two (if not more) are guns for hire, or just a band of sportsmen-uh-things.

HEY!!! since that one guy's a mammal, do you think their'll be females? I hope there's not going to be another Queen thing going on here, I'm gettin' sick of that.

I also think that the guy in the head model part might have an Australian accent, y'know like a professional trapper?

What program do I use to view the movie? It won't show in up.

Maybe Quicktime. That's what worked for me.

The footage was very brief, but very cool!
The dude with the hat was probably a bad guy, cus the good guys don't use guns. Abe can posses guys to use guns, but I've never seen him personally use one. Abe has used a grenade before though.
Oddworld is big about not disrupting nature(Restoring balance to the land, etc..) and this hat guy looked like he was doing plenty of disrupting!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Umm.. there isn't any more footage at the moment, just that brief trailer from the upcoming show..

BUT!!

Big but here, DISCOVERY CHANNEL Is going to be the first place where new footage of the next ODDWORLD is gonna show up.

Its on a show called X-PLAY on the Discovery Channel. Friday the 20th 8:00 P.M and 11:00 P.M (Eastern Time)

Set your VCRs for the 20th at 8:00 P.M (Eastern U.S. Time) people!

P.S. I'm suprised many of you haven't seen the footage link which was posted on the www.oddworldinhabitants.com webpage, it was just updated today I think.

Well this is a sure confirmation of what Alf said on oddchat. And a reminder if you havent checked it allready, oddworld.com has been updated, and they have updated their FAQ adding the date and time, plus a brief description of what the discovery channel episode will primarily focus on. But of course I guess thats still old news. Plus as G-Xis has pointed out that teaser for the TV program has been added.

This picture intrigues me the most, I think that the figure running on the walkway is Abe - because I think that's a ponytail I can see on the figures head.

Wow, this is great. I thought Alf said we weren't going to get anything for another few months, but this is great. This kind of ambiguous material is what makes the last several months seem worth the wait. Especially since Alf said this footage might not actually be in the final game. Ah, OWI, you are still there.

N.B. I downloaded QuickTime to view this movie, and was surprised to find I can watch the UYI video without the horrible blotches it had on the old computer. Superb!

And presumably there'll be more of this kind of material on the actual show, right?

In the regards also with what max said about the footage possibly not being in the final game, I should also add.

The reason they say on the site that some of these initial concepts might not end up in the final game is because this footage is a bit out of date.

What I forgot to put up in that conversation a few of us had with alf last week was that he said the footage, concepts, etc. shown in the discovery channel documentary are from last september. Also that they will not be showing anything else for the next several months. Most likely until the game is released.

Still I'll enjoy the program none the less.

Now that seems a bit silly. Obviously there's got to be at least a couple of weeks, preferably a month so that news of the game can get around a bit. OWI are being a bit reclusive right now, and with good reason, so it's very nice of them to take part in this Discovery Channel program. However, how do they expect to hype up the game if they don't present anything until the very last second. Talk about mysteries, people won't even know what to expect.

I think I exaggerated that a bit in saying several months. Alf stated though they will probably not release anything for the next few months of summer, anything new that is. So I would guess an update in August or september on the games progress, but like I said theres not a complete guarantee with what they are going to do about this game in media coverage. I have to give them credit they have been very good at keeping things secret over there at OWI.

I leave for vaccation and just look what happens when Im gone! But I must admit that I am giddy with excitment at the new footage of the next game! *starts ceasuring*

I'm very upset because although I have the Discovery Channel, I have the European version, which will not be showing this particular episode of On The Inside. Or indeed any episode of On The Inside. I'd like to actually search the european site, but some gimp forgot to actually put a search option on there. I'll just have to listen to what everybody has to say about it, as usual.

Max, (as Im doing for PA, Alcar, and Xav) I'd me more than happy to record it for ya's. Just tell me if you'd like a tape of it...:fuzsmile:

I wouldnt worry too much about not seeing it. I know I will be taping it being it has both OW4 and Halo 2 in this program.

Although Im sure the clip of OW4 will make its way onto the net soon after. So those of you who dont have DC, Or dont get the program, there are many people taping the show, ex. Oddsville, myself, so someone can send it that way. Or someone here could convert it to WMF, or QT also. But my point is Im sure the footage will somehow become available on the net, whether its the whole show or excerpts.

This should be pretty cool, but I doubt we'll see anything in-game or even in-engine from the next game. From what Al said, it seems like we might just see a few FMV's we haven't seen and some small details concerning characters and story. The footage is almost a year old appearently, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. I will definitely watch the special; it's still very possible we'll see something incredible.
