Riddle me this...
Hi. Yeah, it's me again.
Anyway, I have always fancied riddles. I just can't get enough of them, actually. I really dislike silly riddles, though. I personally enjoy the riddles that cause you to do some logical thinking. That's why, I've decided to make a topic containing some of my ''old favorites". Some of these could be a bit tricky, I guess. I've known them since I was but a wee lad, though. In addition to attempting to answer my riddles, I would enjoy it if you would post any you may know. Also, when replying with an answer, I would prefer that you quote the riddle you'll be answering, to avoid confusion. I hope I atleast get some participation, on this one... 1- "What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a head but never weeps? 2- " No sooner broken than spoken. What is it?" 3- "Feed me, and I live. Give me drink, and I die. What am I?" 4- "I pass before the sun, yet I cast no shadow. What am I?" 5- "I am light as a feather, yet no man can hold me for long. What am I?" 6- "We are very little creatures; all of us have different features. One of us in glass is set; one of us you'll find in a jet. Another you may see in tin, and the fourth, is boxed within. In the fifth, if you should pursue, it can never fly from you. what are we?" 7- "When is a door not a door?" 8- "Where may you find roads without cars, forests without trees, and cities without houses?" 9- "Cannot be seen, cannot be smelt. It lies behind the stars and beneath the hills. Ends life and kills laughter. What is it?" 10- "A thing that runs, but cannot walk. It sometimes sings, but never talks. Lacks arms; has hands, lacks a head, yet has a face. What is it?" 11- "What builds up castles, tears down mountains, makes some blind, but helps others to see?" 12- "Man walks over; man walks under. In times of war, he burns assunder." I have loads more, but if I don't get much participation, I won't bother. I know some people simply loathe riddles.... |
"What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a head but never weeps?
I think the answer to this one is a river, but I'm not sure. Oh well. I guess I'll find out in time... |
"The man who buys it, doesn't need it. The man who needs it, doesn't know it." What is it?
"You run from home and turn three times, you're back home but there is a stranger there with a mask." Who is the stranger in the mask? |
:
Here's one of my own "What always coming but never arrives?". |
:
Edit: Armed Slig, the answer is a Catcher. |
River bed, the mouth of a river,I have no clue about a head although it sounds familiar, maybe just because of "bed"...
5- "I am light as a feather, yet no man can hold me for long. What am I?" Mm, a burning hot coal. Or a random girl that doesn't like guys. Not much difference;) J/k.... |
" No sooner broken than spoken. What is it?"
Ha! Two posts in five minutes! I think the answer to this on is a promise... Edit: Woo! I just keep coming back! "A thing that runs, but cannot walk. It sometimes sings, but never talks. Lacks arms; has hands, lacks a head, yet has a face. What is it?" I think that's a clock. |

10. Clock. |
So far. the riddles that have been answered correctly are:
1- "What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a head but never weeps? " It is indeed, a river. 10- "A thing that runs, but cannot walk. It sometimes sings, but never talks. Lacks arms; has hands, lacks a head, yet has a face. What is it?" Yep, a clock is what it be. Good job, Tom and Morgan. I will only confirm correct answers. I won't give them out. There are a few that I'll give hints for, though. armed slig, I agree with morgan. I think the answer is catcher. I seem to remember that one from my little league days.. |
I'm not going to tell the first answer 'til somebody gives up. The second one. Well, it can be catcher OR umpire. Yes, that's an acceptable answer. Good job.
|
11- "What builds up castles, tears down mountains, makes some blind, but helps others to see?"
A Wall? 4- "I pass before the sun, yet I cast no shadow. What am I?" Air? 3- "Feed me, and I live. Give me drink, and I die. What am I?" Some sort of electrical applience? You feed it electricity or sumat? "The man who buys it, doesn't need it. The man who needs it, doesn't know it." What is it? Wealth |
Sorry Jacob, you can't buy wealth. Nice try, though.

11. Oooh... tough. I'm going to have to say "power", but that probably isn't the answer. 12. A bridge! |
Okay...so far, the riddles that have been aswered correctly are
1- "What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a head but never weeps? " [good job, Morgan!] 10- "A thing that runs, but cannot walk. It sometimes sings, but never talks. Lacks arms; has hands, lacks a head, yet has a face. What is it?" [good job, Tom!] 3- "Feed me, and I live. Give me drink, and I die. What am I?" 12- "Man walks over; man walks under. In times of war, he burns assunder." [Good job, Luke!] 4- "I pass before the sun, yet I cast no shadow. What am I?" Jacob, you are VERY close on your answer. Bleh. You're close enough. The answer is wind. |
The man who buys it, doesn't need it. The man who needs it, doesn't know it. What is it?
A coffin. No sooner broken than spoken. What is it? Silence. I am light as a feather, yet no man can hold me for long. What am I? Breath. When is a door not a door? When it's ajar. Where may you find roads without cars, forests without trees, and cities without houses? An ants' nest? |
6 is ajar.
10 is a clock! |
Ana, all were correct, except for the last answer you gave. Good job.
|
Re: Riddle me this...
I've only answered the ones that I know and that nobody's answered yet. I got the Fire one and the Breath one, but other people have got those...

1) How many letters are in the alphabet? 2) What row of numbers comes next? This is a tough one! 1 11 21 1211 111221 312211 13112221 |
For Surf: 1. Well, theres 11 characters in "the alphabet". 12, if you count spaces. Theres 7 different letters, 8 if spaces count. Or if its just the actual alphabet, 26. Can I submit all 5 answers?
|
:
1) A man and his son are in the car the father is driving, then suddenly the car crash's. The father is killed instantly but the son is rushed to hospital. Before surgery had began the doctor said "I can't operate on this boy he is my son" Who is the doctor? |
The way I see this the driver was a grandfathter, and he was killed. The son of the grandfather was rushed to the hospital to operate on someone who is his son. Theres a grandfather somewhere though, even if I'm wrong isn't there?

Darn, I'll have to think about it then. I still say my answer made sense though...
|
:
|
Sure, I have your other riddle still to work on....
|
The answer is Mother.
I hope. Alcar... |
I still say my more complex answer is much better for a simple riddle...
