Close encounter of a ghost!

I only know that there is definatly something after death because Ive had an expierience that made me believe in something so profound like that. A year ago my Grandfather passed awey and the next night I was like half a sleep when I felt some kind of presents amongst myself. I thought I saw my grandfather or an outline of what it looked to me as my grandfather standing there staring right at me. The thing is I was well aware of everything around me when this happen. I felt a little cold and I had goose bumps. It seemed to me that my grandfather was telling me that everything was ok. I sware, after that happened to me it made me a better believer. I tell ya it was very odd. Have you ever had an expierence like that?

abe22 03-31-2002 03:28 AM

Nope never had any encounters with ghosts or anything like that. I thought I saw death once but it was only my cat...true story.

Pilot 03-31-2002 06:25 AM

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspClose encounters of that particular kind are almost daily occurences for me. Just usually not as intense as some.

Wil 03-31-2002 08:03 AM

I'm a believer

I totally believe in ghosts (and anything else supernatural, come to that), just like many members of the Oddworld Forums, even though I've never personally seen a ghost.

However, I have been abducted by aliens (the extra-terrestrial sort).

And I do plan to stick with the paranormal all my life. I'm just waiting for a ghost.

My granddad and his wife are spiritualists and believe in an afterlife of kinds.

Jacob 03-31-2002 10:26 AM

I had a Ghost in my room once...which was abit of a shit really as it used to lie in the bed next to mine and open closets and stuff.

Doubt it...really...i do.

mitsur 03-31-2002 12:00 PM

I feel unkown presance somtimes

munchman 03-31-2002 01:28 PM

the scary thing is that a guy befor i got into the house that im in went to a bar got drunk dint his car got mad when he got home he went into the first room on the left, and thats my room now and his wife went to get water, he took out a gun and tried to clean it and shot his self, i think he ment to do it,

Wil 03-31-2002 01:44 PM

I also get the occassional feeling of deja vu...but nothing compared to someone at school who says: "I get that all the time." Good for him.

Jacob 03-31-2002 02:28 PM

Im partially psychic. My mum is aswell...partially. I am also overly empathic, wich comes in useful at times. And also, i get pressences...but dont think nowt to them. N e 1 done a Ouija board?

Al the Vykker 03-31-2002 03:10 PM

In my old house I always felt a presence like someone waas always there but that was five years ago, and we moved to another part of town.

I labouriously made one using a jpeg with letters on it, an image map and some javascript!

By 'done' you meant 'used,' didn't you...

Majic 03-31-2002 11:30 PM

My friend when he was little seriously was like psychic... WHen there was some earthquake in India (it would have been night here) he had told his mom people were dying, and the next day on the news they announced it...

Steve 03-31-2002 11:58 PM

majic abe, people are always dieing, I could say "tommorow there will be a suicide bombing in isreal" and theres about a 50% chance I'm right, does that make me phycic? I'll check tommorow to see.

Majic 04-01-2002 12:01 AM

Dude, ok ill explain this more clearly. He told his mom lots of people were dieing and hurting right then before he went to bed, the earthquake was at the same time.....

Sydney 04-01-2002 12:50 AM

I've never had an experience with the supernatural that can't be explained via natural means, but I'm open to the idea that other realms exist.

As for being psychic, I've on many occasions predicted the arival of certain visitors to my house. For example, more than once I've told my family that our old neighbour, Ross, will drop over the weekend. I've always been right. Of course, it's likely simply to be a coincidence.

Cloverfield 04-01-2002 02:06 AM

I can't say I have had any experiences myself. But my mum has, sensed presences and the like.

She is also like Sydney, in that she can tell when something is going to happen. It's usually small things, like that something will arrive in the mail, or that someone is going to visit. She has had bad feelings too, she had a bad feeling just before the September 11 events last year... but she wasn't able to predict what it was, just she felt something bad was going to happen.

Abe Babe...

Joe the Intern 04-01-2002 05:02 AM

My mom has had things like that too. One time, an F15 fighter jet landed in one of our fields (that's right! We own a farm!). She had a dream the night before that it was going to happen. And she also had a bad feeling when my dad suffered a traumatising injury to the head. But I guess these are just coincidences.

Al the Vykker 04-01-2002 12:42 PM

Usually nothing is a coincidence, or at least thats what I believe.
THings happen for a reason good or bad. Its something I've seen when Semptember 11th, changed the lives of all americans like me. It was like time stopped for a short time. I can't explain it completely but for that short time Americans had been United, stronger, Just for that time, however short. We must all deal with the plate that is placed in front of us good or bad.

Disgruntled Intern 04-01-2002 03:55 PM

My friend Robbie used to have this old two story hous out in the country...well, it was more like a farm house..anyway his room was the only room on the second floor, well the only bedroom anyway..
one time, i was staying the night, and we heard some one walking around outside the room..but we figured it was his dog.
Well, the walking sounds seemed to intensify..so we looked out of his room...and right as we did, the "study's" door slammed shut.
we got kind of nervous, so we went back into his room to watch TV...then we heard the walking again, and it sounded like some one stomping around...we got REALLY freaked out, and we ran down stairs (lame, I know) ...his parents were out for the evening, so we just sat on the sofa....and the noises stopped for about half of an hour...i fell asleep on the sofa, and Robbie woke me up ...well he shook me untill I woke up, and just pointed at the stairs..and as i turned to look, I swear I saw like something go up the stairs...it was weird.
I have had several experiences but that one was by far the most memorable.

There was another time that I was home alone...and the clothes dryer thing started on it's own, then the microwave made this weird thumping noise..then EVERYTHING got quiet as hell...even the love birds..and they're loud as hell.

I also get the feeling that someone is always in my room...I dunno it's weird.
My dog won't even go into my parents room...hell, neither will the cats.
the time when i carried my big ass dog into their room, she was like whimpering at first, then she was like yelping ..i set her down, and she pissed a river and ran out..it was..odd..

Al the Vykker 04-01-2002 03:58 PM

Dogs can usually sense things that we can't. They are more in contact with supernatural things then we are. You must have a ghost stuck between our world and the other side.

Jacob 04-01-2002 04:13 PM

Or the Dog just doesn't like the room. But it is true, animals have like a 6th sensy thingy...so it can most likely sense sumat. And the 'Ghost' wont be trapped inbetween dimensions...just merely boshing about the room...looking around...having fun etc etc.

Majic 04-01-2002 04:25 PM

Heh, I still think it would be cool to be a ghost. You could like go scare people, haunt a house, fly and go and do all that cool crap like jump off a big bridge, or go on the Texas Giant at 6 Flags over TExas without fear of hurting your back...

paramiteabe 04-01-2002 04:36 PM

There is only one problem of being a ghost and that is nobody can see you or here you unless you go into their dreams. I do believe in ghosts in that sense. As for the white vapor floating in a hunted house not a fact. I am not saying there could though.;)Ever see the movie ghost? Thats the kind of ghost I believe in.

Majic 04-01-2002 04:41 PM

Damnit, if you were a ghost you chould be able to choose between what you felt like being then, like a zombie dude, a vapor, or an invisible guy..... that would make it cool...

Jacob 04-01-2002 04:56 PM

I used to think that when u died u got to choose between:

Going to Heaven
Reincarnation
Being a Ghost
Being a Poltergeist
Protect somebody of ur choice

If u were a Poltergeist u cud like throw things and smash things up...or if u were like a protection Ghost...i kn0 who id protect...Awww.

Rat 04-01-2002 06:15 PM

i did sumon a Demon....wow it was screwy, i would want to rencarnate my self as a demon, it would ROCK!

Overly Empathic? I doubt it... If you were, you would be a little bit more sensitive...

Oddsville 04-01-2002 06:39 PM

I've had things move around in my room and out at night when knowones there to move them, an example is the tolitpaper role. I know this sound stupid but I can here when ever someone uses toilet paper from my room, and one night when I was all alone the thing just started going crazy. I laid in my bed and for about a minute the thing rolled all by it self...freaky.

abe22 04-01-2002 09:44 PM

I just remembered something. In one of the holidays last year I was at home by myself. No one near me had a piano neither did I. Now I didn't have the Tv on or anything on at that but I started hearing piano noises from my room. SO I went to my room armed with a bat and there was no one there but the piano noises were coming from my closet. I opened up my closet door (there was no one there) and I just freaked out and I called my brother up and he came home as he had been at the Vidio Store. So we went up to my room again and the noises were loud as. He started kicking in the closet but the sound wouldn't stop. We just totally freaked out. When my mum and dad got home the noises had stopped and we told them and they just said we were hearing things. It was too freaky. Sometimes I hear loud breathing from my kitchen when no-ones home...freaky

So now when ever I'm at home by myself I always turn my tv on or else I probably freak out...

Creppy!Every time I'm alone at home and everything note:everything is turned off(even silent speakers)I hear this werid sound from my room.(I can't describe how it sounds)
Its like a sixth sence....

Steve 04-02-2002 12:11 AM

due to the overabundance of the word 6th sence I decided to come into this, all humans have six sences touch, taste, hearing, sight, smell and well its hard to discribe in one word but it's how you know whether your standing up, hanging upsidedown tilted sideways ect... it is in your inner ear and works using liquids. please say seventh sense.

edit: it would be called orientation.

paramiteabe 04-02-2002 12:41 AM

I can say one time I had an entire week to my house by myself and during that week I heard things that were very freaky! Like I would be in my room and I hear what it sounds to be someone walking around downstairs. I go down and there is nobody. I hear the same sound everytime I am by myself in my house. It is freaky! Also do u ever hear like breathing in anouther room and their is nobody there? Sometimes I do. It's so wierd!

The technical term for that sense is "Balance".

EDIT: Although dictionary.com seems to prefer the term "Equilibrium", which I have to admit sounds better.

My uncle once suggested that Proprioception was another sense, but we eventually decided that it wouldn't be, as it is purely an internal system, and isn't really affected by external factors.

Steve 04-02-2002 07:21 PM

equilibrium, whilst sounding interesting would be incorrect as it means an equality between two things and makes no sense.

balance may be the correct term but somehow doesn't sound right so I shall plod along ingorantly calling it orientation.

Balance is the term my Biology Teacher uses, and Equilibrium is the term the dictionary uses, so I expect that one of them is correct...

balance is the correct term but I continue to plod along ignorantly.

*plods along*

please say seventh sense.
If u were to say this to a load of people who believed it was 6th sense they will go 'No' .

Also...wot about blind/deaf/dumb people...eh? Then it is 6th sense isn't it (Wich it is n e way, but still.) And wot if they are Blind, Deaf AND Dumb...with Leprosy all over...and not being able to smell due to snorting Cocaine and having no tongue...then...then...then it'd be 1st sense...so next time...jus' think about the people who have got Leprosy, have been in a War and had their tongue blown/cut out, are deaf, are dumb, are blind before u blurt out ur Equilibrium shenanigans...ok!!

Haven't you seen the Matrix? They say deja vu is bad!

RoN_Rancor 04-03-2002 05:46 PM

I have never experienced anything supernatural. However, I am extremely interested in it. I am both glad and dissappointed at never having had an experience with the supernatural. I'm glad because I would probably freak out and not be able to stop thinking about it. However, I'm kind of dissappointed because I am very curious about it. For example, I would love to see a UFO in the day time with other people. However, I would absolutely never want to be abducted. That would scare the crap outta' me. Max, what happened in your abduction (if you don't mind discussing it)?

paramiteabe 04-04-2002 12:38 PM

I alweys wonderd what kind of matter spirts or ghosts are made out of? I think it is only negative energy. That is why they scare us. The vapor we know feeds on the negative energy that is reliesed when we are frighten. I think it's definitly scientific thing.;)
