The King of Goth

Well who do you think is the real king of goth? Ozzy, or Meryln Manson? You don't have to like either, i know i don't but if i had to choose i would have to go with Ozzy.

munchman 03-23-2002 11:18 PM

OZZY OSBOURNE ROCKS he is my fav. singer next to slipnot, dusturbed, limp Bizkit :D

Jacob 03-24-2002 12:34 PM

Yer...Ozzy is the king of Goth. But Maz Manson is the kooler of the 2

Danny 03-24-2002 03:15 PM

They're both a pair of ego-centric wankers, who just happen to make good music.

Trent Reznor, now there's a God amongst Men...

Melvin:squeeking paramite 03-24-2002 04:32 PM

They're both annoying and stupid in real life, but I think Manson makes better music... And neither of them are the king of goth, come on! Alice Cooper started that whole music style/trend. (and if you mean one of them was actually the first gothic person, than you are very wrong... I really doubt that a musical artist started that)

Indeed...

I believe the man you are looking for is Alaric. He led the Visigoths to victory against Rome in 410 AD. The Ostragoths never had such a great leader...

*wonders exactly how much internet searching it took Dan to find that...*

Steve 03-24-2002 09:47 PM

I thought that was Odoacer, or was he just the first germanic ruler?

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the Visigoths and Ostragoths had more than one king in their history...

Steve 03-24-2002 10:13 PM

sorry, germanic ruler of rome.

just so this post seems more relevent (even though it won't be) it wouldn't suprise me either.

LOL! Alice cooper! Firtly look at his name "Alice" LOL:lol:  Yeah that's real goth material you got there.

Dequibenzo 03-25-2002 04:14 AM

Wow, somebody has NO idea what they're talking about, apparently. Dude, Cooper is the FATHER of modern Goth. Ozzy is his heir apperent- he's still releasing things. Manson isn't anything of goth- he's the king of modern show-biz image manipulation. His real name is Brian, he's from Cincinnatti, and he went to college to become an accountant. Now he does cruddy covers of hair-band songs and only pops into the public eye every once in a while because people are pressed for news sometimes. Trust me- I live in Colorado, less than fifty miles from Columbine, and even that little altercation involving it and him a few years ago resolved itself pretty non-climacticly. Guy's a hack, if you ask me.

Shit, you're incredibly ignorant to music history! Alice Cooper fathered goth rock, man. Don't make fun of him... He was brilliant, better than frigging Ozzy and Manson... I see you have no idea what goth music is. Go out to a record store and find the real music...

Dequibenzo 03-25-2002 05:16 AM

I second that.

Yes, he fathered goth rock... Making him the king of goth! Not only that, but his music was far better than Ozzy's and he never tried to be trendy like him. Ozzy has a TV show, come on! He's pathetic, just trying to be creepy. Manson... He has fine music, but he certainly isn't the king of goth and the guy is also just trying to be creepy. And... why did you bring up that he is old? So what? His music is still fabulous. Most older music is better any way... Ozzy is as old as him, and he's just trying to keep up with the times. Ozzy's pretty pathetic... And, no, we won't get with the times because we actually know what good music is and not the trendy hacks.

Danny 03-25-2002 06:16 PM

Ah...that xplains your attitude. Actually, i think Maz Manson is kinda the kooler and he goes for the shock approach with his videos...such as dressing up as a pope and (So i have heard) eating a baby (Fake...obviously...i hope)

I agree, Manson is much better than Ozzy, better music and he makes really cool, surreal music videos. Ozzy is even more of a hack than him... Ozzy just annoys me. I still say Alice Cooper is the best of em all... And living in Colorado explains what...?

I would have been the only one to vote for him? Didn't you read Dequibenzo's reply? Also, I was talking to a few people on MSN who thought that Cooper was the king of goth... Any way, I just wanted to get my point across that Alice Cooper was the king of goth, seeing that he was the first great goth musician, and he wasn't some cheesy hack like Ozzy...

Ok settle down, i don't think i'm gonna argue with you on this topic cause like i said i really don't knpw much about solo artist cause i'm really not into them, i would edit the poll for you and add alice cooper but i don't think it can be done.

Settle down? I don't think I did any thing that didn't seem calm... Any way, you don't have to edit Cooper in... I do prefer him, but I think most every one who saw this topic has voted...

Statikk HDM 04-01-2002 02:37 PM

Versus these two you must give it to OZZY FUKKING OSBOURNE!!! But I have always liked real shredders, like Rusty and the shred manifesto, and Slayer's lead singer, Tom Aryana. But the OZZ wins 'cause his show is damned hilarious and the randy roads era was genious. Damn planes. They always seem to kill the cool peeps

Disgruntled Intern 04-01-2002 04:19 PM

Yeah, I did have two targets... Your tact, and your drunk-ness... I decided to take the drunk one, because you don't have that bad of tact... ;)

Disgruntled Intern 04-01-2002 07:53 PM

uh Dyl..don't you mean lack of tact?

Melvin:squeeking paramite 04-01-2002 07:56 PM

I did say "horrid tact", Dave.. Unless you mean in my reply to Dan.. Then I meant just what condition his tact was in.... Just Tact. Either way, Dan's tact isn't too bad... Can't say the same for yours, Dave...

You may think they are crap, but hey there band is famous your's is not. And slipknot are just going to get better and better anyways, i mean they have already competed againest the best (Slayer) How many years have they been around, about 20+, Slipknot have been out for about 5 or 6 yrs and **** there doing really well, so don't mock them.

Ooookie dokie..

(1)- what do I mean no talent? It's a clash of noise produced by musical instruments, and a barrage of screams and growls. To me, this does not signify talent..it's just...noise.

(2)- Yes, they are rich and famous...so are a LOT of people...like Keanu Reeves for example. He's rich, he's famous, but he sure can't act worth a shit....money and social status do not mean you're talented..if you think so..i pity you.

(3)- Well, since I am not an official member of a band, it's not really mine. I stand in on occasion, but that's it.
moving on..

(4)- Who was mocking? I was simply stating my opinion. Should I have chosen to mock them, I would have been much more creative.

anything else?
