No spamming club!
I have decided to start a "Stop spamming club". We will discuss people that spam and what we should do with them. We will put a little mark in our sig that shows we are part of the club.
The point of this club is to show people how much spam sucks, and maybe they will stop spamming once and for all. Because of the growing amount of members in the forums we will, like dark hood said, gain more spammers. So we have to do something about it. I know we all spam sometimes, even I spam. But usually because I'm in a spaz mood. Anyway, the leaders of the club will be me and Gluk Shmuck. The reason I've chosen him is because most of the time, he talks sense and doesn't crap on about nothing. If you want to join, just tell me. Sounds like a good idea to me. I've gone down in the forums recently, maybe it's time to launch my glorious comeback. I'll join you.

Well, everyone here who has posted is in... I can't recall any major spammers lately. We'll have to wait.. ;)
BTW: Our tag will be: No Spamming club(rank, in my case, leader) |
Right, what ranks will the rest of us be?
|
Somebody call for an exterminator?
|
Other tags will be: No spamming club member
|
Oh, the irony!
NB: This is not spam because it says a lot with very little text. |
Cool idea I'm in. :)
|
All of you here have read the post about DH and SS right? Well did you see the way Steel Shark was lying? What a *@$! I dunno what to do with him... Any way, YOU SUCK STEEL SHARK! THAT'S ONE LESS MEMBER OF THE FORUMS THANKS TO YOU!(Black Dragon)
|
Oh for goodness sake... yes, so SS is getting under everyone's skin, but can't you lot stop mentioning him in every post and giving him more ammo to get back at you with?
I think you lot better lay off the caffeine. Edit: *remembers Syd said something about any more provocative posts and member in question will be banned...* *shuts up* [ November 19, 2001: Message edited by: Teal ] |

Thanks Middles B. Yes that is my ancient banner which I am now going to put in my sig. Hopefully...
|
Alright. What do we do now guys? Think of anti-spam ideas?
|
This would be much easier if their was a forum for us members to talk about it but there isn't so maybe us guys every time someone spams if its thier first time warn them and tell em to edit their post....
If they spam again and again Report it to an admin and let em deal wid it from there :D |
I'm for tt but wouldn't it a.) Cost sydney more money to creat and keep it? and b.) Who would be in charge of it??
|
You're right but first I feel we have to define spamming. I personally think spamming can be broken down in several groups.
A) Talking Crap: When the member posts nonsense in any old forum or topic. Solution: Warn them. If it persists contact an Admin. B) Crappy topics: Where the member posts shitty topics that nobody realy will post in. Solution: Ask them to be more sensible. If it persists contact a Mod or Admin. C) Mistakes: Where the member accidently did a double post (or more) or posted two of the same topic. Solution: Get an admin to delete the extra posts or topics. Also your average spammer can be put into several groups. A) Annoying: Deliberately posting crap to boost their rank. B) Newbie: A good, reasonable, cooperative person who has only just joined and knows no better. C) Bad speller: Once again a nice person who makes mistakes through no fault of their own. What do you think of that my fellow Non-Spammers? ;) ;) |
Great,...I think its sorted!
|
Can I join? *twist hair with one finger* Can I have mines in pink to match my haaaiiiiirrrr? *Continues to twist hair*
|
Yeah, pinky you can join.
Rich: That was good. You're right. Spammers can be broken up into heaps of groups. But the most common is: Talking crap. Usually they just reply to a topic wth a simple: Oh. That is not what we need. And that is what we're here to get rid of! |
yaaaaaaaaaay.
|
Did any of you guys notice the brilliant joke Sydney made"Oh,the irony!" In discussing what to do about spammers almost all of the replys were short, pointless spams that simply made the point someone else did a few minutes ago? Yaaaaay!
|
:
Yaaaay is not pointless. It shows emotion. |
Good point pinky. But I do see alot of spam in other topics from you..
|
Sounds like a cool idea! Can I join? ;)
|
Yeah, you don't spam that often so you may as well.

Drippik, four words:
"Practise what you preach" (I actually find it kind of ironically amusing that some of the worst offenders are creating a "no spamming" club... Ditto on what Syd said, therefore... :)) |
:
yeah some of the top spammers have joined lol!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
But if the ave joined that means they want to stop and help others stop too! Thats what it is aint it??
|
Teal, you beat me to it. I find it ironic that some of the worst offenders want to join also.
Well let's hope this is a chance for them to practice what they preach and start to set an example for others. If so, it will begin to make the forums a better place for all. And that does not mean telling every single person off when you think something is spam, as if you do that, you are spamming also. By all means, tell someone off, but... 1. Ensure you are telling them off for a post that IS spam (I've seen some people told off for reasonable posts) 2. Try to do it constructively... i.e. add something relevant to the topic after telling them off... or tell them off with an explanation as to why they are spamming. If you don't follow the above, then you are spamming too (this isn't directed to you Drippik, I think you understood my rant earlier today... it's just a warning for anyone else). If unsure, leave it to an admin/mod, or send us an email. Abe Babe... |
I thoughtoff good and proper Hand reaches for cane* Like the good ald days!!
But I suppose that would be also spamming according to Abe Babes Rules!! |
