Oddworld: Soulstorm behind closed doors
 

The guys from Oddworld Inhabitants showed me Oddworld: Soulstorm behind closed doors at E3 and I'm super impressed with what I saw.

However, I'm under NDA so that's almost all I can actually share about it as they asked me not to go into the specifics. :p

What I can say is that the whole game feels more fluid, more alive and more dynamic than any other Oddworld game.

It's like they took everything I love about Oddworld and turned it to 11. I literally had a shiver down my spine while watching it.

They really weren't kidding when they said this game was going to be dark.

I really wish I could share more with you guys. :)

Proper hyped for this, more so than for Death Stranding/TLOU2 and I loved the earlier games of both of those companies too.

However, I must say, this all doesn't look fair imo, telling to us that you saw in preview the game. You're just teasing more and it's annoying, even though I'm still glad to hear that this game is going good.

Awwww yeah, very nice to hear your excitement Xav! Would you say the general gameplay and gamespeak is similar to New n Tasty? Or can you not say?

I'm kinda worried they're going to over-compensate for the goofiness of NnT. With AO and AE the transition wasn't jarring because it was subtle, so I guess all I'm hoping for is that they keep some semblance of subtlety and don't go full Dark Knight. At least not at first.

Ar you able to give us an idea of the length of footage/gameplay you saw/played? Was it just a short segment, or a longer walkthrough?

Just make sure they are using the right shade of green for Brew and that ZE BOILER scene is in there in some way. Ze Boiler or riot.

And god forbid if Brew goes blue.

In a franchise where you can possess your own farts, I'm sure they'll keep the right balance. I'm not expecting it to become Eraserhead or anything 👀

That's a bit harsh. As a matter of fact, Xavier is no different than any other PR ("a polite reminder that Soulstorm is a whole new game but I can't tell you anything!"). Plus, he's doing it for free. He just wanted to "share" his enthusiasm.

Nope. Xavier saw the game this week, then asked if he could say anything about it, or even if he'd seen it. Given he's a big fan we thought that was fine.

That's fine Xavier, I appreciate all that you have said already and I understand the frustration you would feel wanting to share something amazing with people who would appreciate it but are not allowed to.
We only have to wait like one more year for it. That's not that bad.

I actually really enjoy this lack of information on the game. Too often you find out lots about something (game/movie/iPhone) before it's released and then nothing is a surprise anymore. I hope once OWI get around to releasing some footage it's only a sliver of what's in the game so that we can discover all the cool stuff for ourselves. The ARG is a great teaser for speculation and whatnot for the meantime.
