Limited Run Stranger's Wrath Vita Release
 

The physical release of Limited Run's STRANGER'S WRATH HD on PS Vita goes live this Friday (09/12/16) so I figure we might as well have a thread in the run up to it. Who's picking up a copy?

What's to know;

• Vita-only release, no PS4 version as a port does not yet exist for it
• 4500 units, max of 2 per customer and region free
• Includes a reversible cover, poker cards (new design) and a foldout map of the Mongo River Valley (based on this)
• An even more limited PSX2016 'blue cover' variant will also be available. Only 1000 of these are printed and was initially launched at the PSX event just gone by - the rest will be available online same time as the regular edition release. It features Silvio Aebischer art on the front and back as well as a thank you message to the fans from Lanning and McKenna.
• Will retail for either $24.99 or $29.99

Releasing a physical game for just the PSVita in 2016 is a terrible move. I don't think anybody has bought a game for that console since 2014.

Which is why they only print in small batches (typically 3-5000). Every other Limited Run Vita release has sold out more or less within a day, including New N' Tasty.

I'll take one of each, for collecting and supporting purposes :)

The blue cover looks extra pervy.

Googling "PS Vita Failure" might surprise you. The console sales (up to 12mln units, and not going to rise much anymore) are a fraction of what PSP or 3DS achieved (82mln and ~62mln units sold, respectively) due to lacking suport from Sony, general lack of good games (non-ports), expensive hardware etc.

Personally, I don't own the console (and I'm not in the minority there, as disappointing PSVita sales have almost become a meme on its own), but my roommate brought one home yesterday. The conversation went like:

It is. That was clearly an exaggeration based on low sales of the console.

Hey now, I may be Stranger fangirl trash, but I don't even OWN a Vita. Also, it's not my fault that Stranger was so suave in his early concept art.

Would have loved to score a print of that map, though.

Okay, Alex, I retract my statement. This fanbase is dumb and OWI knows it.

Leftovers of the PSX blue edition will be made available on the Limited Run website on the 9th of December. Maybe wait a bit before paying multiple times the price.

OWI should consider the idea of selling a "special edition" of SW with no disc inside.

A consumer participating in something that's basically anti-consumer (buying the product regardless of its quality, for purely ideological reasons) is unwise, to say the least.

You're basically turning a blind eye to how good the new games are gonna be, and if we all follow your example, OWI's gonna create the laziest, worst games they could, because, hey, we'll all buy them anyway.

You don't take into account that if the new games are crap people will eventually stop buying them. Here we're buying games from a company that has a record of making great games and there's no reason to believe they are going to start releasing crap.
