So the official @OddworldInc twitter account name is quite clear: they are currently flying to E3.

Time to bet wether or not they have something to announce or show.

Would they be flying to E3 if they got nothing to show whatsoever?

They could just be doing interviews with the press.

Yeah, I won't get my hopes up, if we know one thing about OWI, it's that announcements and fan interaction isn't their forte.

I'm excited about the RE reveal.

Not holding my breath for anything big but anything new is fine by me.

Pictures or videos of the actual game might be interesting (instead of Abe's body parts).

Hopefully we get to hear from the Odd team. Whether it be just a hey how are you or any oddworld news.

Anyone else bit weirded out by PREY? I honestly thought we were going to get the space cowboys PREY experience but, now we are getting a super interesting horror HL type game.

Its like I'm happy and disappointed at the same time? lol

Just checked on the OWI Twitter, and apparently Lorne appeared on "Giant Bomb" yesterday.

He pops up at around 1:15:50 in this video:

Lorne states the reason they're secretly showing Soulstorm because "They're ahead of where they thought they'd be" and it's working and running, and they wanted to show it off this year.

He also told a story about the infamous Munch PS2 footage, and for the first time on public record admitted it wasn't actually created on a PS2 dev kit. One of their new partners were going to cut OWI's budget, so he came up with a workaround. No publishers were allowed to show PS2 footage, so they just used the assets in 3D Studio Max and called it "visualisations" and it got lots of coverage as some of the first PS2 footage, and it stopped their partner cutting their budget. (Basically)

That's pretty much the only Oddworld info Lorne talked about. He didn't really speak all that much, and barely at all about Soulstorm.

Seriously, as much as I love OWI, their PR is shite.

So is it being shown at E3 or not?

I don't know. He didn't state why it was being shown privately. If I had to guess, I'd say they didn't pay for a booth because they didn't expect to have anything ready, so they're just showing it off in a back room to industry insiders.

It's likely to simply be that they have enough to show to the press under NDA, but the game's not yet in a state where they can show it off publicly. So it's more of an exercise in press relations than public marketing - show them something to keep them sweet and get their interest.

Watching that GiantBomb interview. Apparently they didn't expect to have something ready for E3 so it seemed to be a last minute decision to show it off to some people there. Development seems to be a little ahead of schedule atm.

Also, Lorne explained that the Munch PS2 visualisation videos were made to basically pressure their new public trading company to keep their budget intact.

Two observations:

1. Development seems to be a little ahead of schedule whereas Frima Studio was still recruiting for Soulstorm (in april).

2. Munch PS2 footage proves that Lanning's words shouldn't be taken as gospel.
