What Does your PC Setup Look Like?

MOD EDIT: This post split off from WDYLL13 after this post.

Is that an LG ultrawide 21:9 monitor?

V_O_T knows where it's at.

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...9&d=1443873610

Yup. One of the best decisions I've made when it came to upgrading my pc. I was using a cathode monitor before and moronically kept the "if it aint broke" method in my mind for far too long. Now I just splerg and get fancy shit when I can lol.

Also helps a lot when you have friends that work in electrical appliance stores. DISCOUNTS N' FOOD STAMPS R THE SHIT.

FrustratedAssassin 10-03-2015 04:06 AM

I have a RAT7 too but I hate it. It's not even compatible with anything other than Windows.

Also, is everybody on this forum a musician or otherwise some kind of artist?

I never got the whole thing of having your keyboard and mouse BEHIND your MIDI devices.

I look weirdly fat in this but I don't care because it took me like 4 hours to get a good angle.

Thread Split request. What Does your PC Setup Look Like? :)

The RAT7 is a bad mouse. VOT is a bad person.

The Logi G402 on the other hand is amazing, albeit a tad weighty. The G400/s is still a better mouse in my opinion, and the MX500 is even better, but it's not a bad choice.

Crashpunk 10-03-2015 05:44 AM

Here's my 2 year old just barely held together PC. Nvidia 660ti, i5-3570k, 8GB RAM, Windows 10

...and my setup. Ducky Zero Keyboard, SteelSeries Rival Dota 2 Mouse, Blue Snowball Mic, Samsung 23 inch monitor and a load of consoles.

If you're talking about mine, it's the 502, but yeah I agree.
I'd rather have an MX Master because it's miles better for productivity and looks comfy as shit, but I lost my job just after I finished my set-up, so yeah.

Also, Razer sucks.

FrustratedAssassin 10-03-2015 08:50 AM

Yup. Everybody is a musician confirmed.

Varrok 10-03-2015 11:05 AM

Here's what my monitor looks like:

Nate 10-03-2015 11:06 AM

That's not your setup, though.

Varrok 10-03-2015 11:09 AM

I set it up that way

Phylum 10-03-2015 08:46 PM

Desk setup. Mice are an original Zowie FK with a lens mod and a G400s. Mousepad is a QCK+. Mic is an AT2020, plugged into a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2. There's a PS3 controller, and some garbage Logitech gamepad on my desk. The pop-filter is home made from a stocking, an embroidery hoop and some wire.

Shot of my electric paino, Casio CDP-130. It's a full 88 key beast, and doesn't really fit anywhere.

Old shot from a a few months ago, when I was using a WMO and MX500. These mice are better than their modern counterparts, but they're impractical to use on a modern OS :( Razer Deathadder 3.5g in the background, which I've had since 2012 and used for all of 6 months. It was always too heavy for me and now lives in a cupboard.

I really should get a boom arm for my microphone! Been planning on getting one for a while now. Also how is Windows 10 treating you?

I will need to do some cleaning of my desk before I can post mine...

Nepsotic 10-04-2015 08:07 AM

I like Windows 10. It has the functionality of 7 but the aesthetics of 8. I also really like Edge browser but it's lacking some fundamental features as of now (extensions).

If people are going in-depth about their set-ups I have my nice new PC on my desk alongside my LG 29UB65-P ultrawide monitor, my Sony MDR-1r headphones, a British Army S10 gas mask for some reason (it looks cool), a spot lamp, Novation Launchkey and Launchpad Mini, and Nio 2/4. Oh and a figure of Nemesis and Cerberus. My keyboard is a Corsair K70 and my mouse is Logitech G502.

I built my lovely rig with Slog Bait a couple of months ago.
2x 970 Windforce in SLI and 4790k watercooled and OCed CPU. There are some Portal 2 figures in there as well.

The build was supposed to have a red and black theme but the GPUs had blue LEDs which can't be changed so I just thought "fuck it".

My setup. Pretty basic but it's alright for uni accommodation. It definitely needs more glowing things.

On the Windows 10 front I'm still a bit iffy. Something feels kind of off. I miss Windows 7.

Windows 10 is pretty good so far. I don't see a reason not to upgrade honestly.

I don't a huge fan of the search box on the menu and the quick access in file explorer is a neat idea, but quickly gets flooded with lots of folders which you don't necessarily want to be bookmarked. Apart from that it works just fine.

Nepsotic 10-04-2015 10:05 AM

Quick access is literally just favourites from Win 7.

Crashpunk 10-04-2015 11:32 AM

Oh. My memory must suck then. :)

Mac Sirloin 10-06-2015 03:41 PM

Sorry, I'm not cool enough to have a PC setup, but here's my refurbished laptop and an ashtray I made.

Fun fact: when I turn my laptop on, it takes a second for the fan to get going, so all of yesterday's farts get recirculated.

Nepsotic 10-06-2015 05:22 PM

Even my 21:9 ultrawide was beaten by that image, Mac.

Edit: Is that a partially-melted Easter egg?

This is my setup at home. I chose my case specifically to fit inside the Ikea shelves. The monitor is on an adjustable arm, so I can swing it around anywhere.

FrustratedAssassin 10-06-2015 11:11 PM

Your desk seems unnecessarily tall. Do you use your computer standing?

Nepsotic 10-07-2015 04:54 AM

Nice mouse, is that the MX Master?
By the way, your poor PC is probably going to die of overheating in that little cabinet. You cruel bastard.

Also, are you some kind of giant?

Jordan 10-07-2015 07:10 AM

Oh please don't tell me you're one of those weirdos that stand at their PC!

Varrok 10-07-2015 07:11 AM

He even has a welcome mat for it

Standing desks are the future!

Or so I was told... :p

Yes. Also sometimes sitting. But mostly standing.

It's this.

The fans are on the front and on the right. You can't see it well in that picture, but there's a sizeable gap on the right side. And the back isn't flush with the wall either.

Nate 10-10-2015 11:17 PM

Because if I always sat when I was on the computer, I'd be spending 90% of my day sitting. It's not healthy and it's also annoying. I find I think better and work better when I'm standing.

Havoc 10-11-2015 03:34 AM

Your legs must be so muscular.

Crashpunk 10-11-2015 03:41 AM

I spend all the time at the Computer sitting and I do feel the negatives of it all the time. (bad back, I have RSI in my right wrist). You just need to stretch a lot.

But on the other hand, I'm standing up all day at work and need the rest. I'm not coming home and standing up again on the PC.

I think standing desks are cool though. You definitely need to get used to them though. (I don't have on obviously, but I've used one.)

Your legs must be so muscular.

You have no idea. I come from a chunky-legged family and I spent several years at university biking to-and-fro. And this year I joined a gym that's so leg crazy that in the first few months I ripped three pairs of jeans.

You could even do squats in between web pages to maximise efficiency.

Nate 10-12-2015 10:09 PM

My internet is to fast to do that in the loading times. :(
