If this is sarcastic i dont mind at all, i made the forum for oddworld fans to get beta stuff as this forum offers no beta stuff or even has the passion that most oddworld fans have anywhere else

He sure told us.

I never made this thread to argue with anyone feel free to join if not you don't have too, just shared this for the oddworld fans

I dunno, it has the Oddworld as a game part down, but it doesn't have the Oddworld feeling to me this place has. We have threads with Oddworld related content all over them, and though they appear unused, just about any time someone makes a thread or asks a question it's replied to with fair haste.

No I meant more along the lines of this place talks more about Oddworld as a world, and all I see on the other forum is Oddworld as a game.

Okay guys cut it out, we get it, you don't like the idea someone tries to set up an other forum.

Legendary Oddworld, what exactly is there lacking here that you want to achieve with your forum? I'm not sure you can have a whole forum dedicated to talking about beta or alternative versions of the oddworld games. Also why can't you create a topic on this forum to talk about it with an already established fan base?

Okay I'm in a helpful mood today, and I once started out with forums and websites just like that. So just in the remote case you're serious about wanting to learn about starting a successful forum let me give you some genuine tips.

1. Oh dear lord get rid of that background.

2. Oh dear lord get a decent header.

3. Your new forum has 25 different subforums holding 85 posts. This age old forum has been around for over 14 years, has over half a million posts and has never had more than 13 subforums. Keep it simple, stupid.

4. Get rid of the shoutbox, it defeats the entire purpose of a forum.

5. Aim for a solid niche. Oddworld isn't very big to begin with and you're aiming for something even smaller, beta's and prototypes which hardly even exist for Oddworld games and which even less people will probably have heard of.

5. Get your own domain and webhost, install a free software package like PHPBB or SMF and manage the entire thing yourself. If and when you get a solid memberbase, go for professional (paid) forum software.

The last one is probably most important. If you're not willing or able to manage your own stuff your website will never ever succeed or attract a membership. No-one (and I mean no-one) likes those free-to-set-up-subdomain websites.

I never posted it here as this site does not allow you to share version of the game when i posted Abe 99 my post was deleted, There a quite alot of nice poeple here but where there are nice people there are also sarcastic unsupportive members who shoot you down when you post, I made the forum just for Oddworld fans to find all beta stuff in one place then having to search forums and as am a beta collector, Oddworld Collector and Japanese game importer i decided to share my findings with all Oddworlds fans. I did it out of good not to upset anyone here or make then angry, the forum is there as an extra, no one has to join
