That's really great for her! Maybe it'll kickstart her career or something.
Now we just wait for everyone to shit on the parade. 3...2...1... |
Regardless if I thought the song didn't really fit Oddworld. It's still a tremendous honor to have her talent shown off in something she personally loves.
I do like the song and I love her voice too. So I hope we see more of her work in the future. :) E: Fuck that Matthew guy who said the song was a "abomination" :/ |
Personally I didn't like the song, to be more precise, she has a great voice, but the lyrics were just abysmal IMO... But what's my opinion on it's inclusion in Oddworld? Well much like the indie game adverts, it really don't bother me, it don't affect the gameplay.
And yeah, fuck that Matthew guy, the video was an abomination. |
Oh god, they left it in!?
|
They said they were going to put it in, and they never said they had changed their mind on it?
|
I haven't heard it myself. But in the future if anyone needs goods lyrics for something, I totally know a guy.
It's me. |
I'd love to see what lyrics you could come up with for the "Born To Love You" tune that was used in the end credits.
Bonus points if it's Oddworld related. |
:
|
But didn't they announce it would be when they released the trailer?
|
Yes they did.
Do you expect the members of this forum to actually read what's on oddworld.com? |
I've looked at the actual lyrics to see if they were remotely Oddworld related.
All I found was "And you were born to save me" and "I am possessed". So no. Not really. |
Works for me.
|
Since it's at the end of the game it doesn't really matter that it's in there. It wouldn't be my first choice but I'm glad it doesn't pervade the game.
|
in AE remake abe's gonna hum this melody while chanting. It's Lorne's wonderful idea
|
...Why would you give us that idea? Like, for free and everything.
|
That would actually make a great Easter egg. :P

Boring? Dude that is the stockyard return music! It's glorious! :P

as a background music it's great but as standalone no, it's it doesn't work. it's not end credits type of song. the new one is more interesting at least. it may not fit the oddworld universe in terms of lyrics but it's better for the end credits than the old one
|
I agree with leocrow, all of the background music in the original games were designed to give you a sense of atmosphere. To appreciate what's around you and draw you in to the world. While the Stockyard Return works brilliantly for the stockyard return, it doesn't fit so well with splash screens of concept art and credits.
|
The original ending credits is far better because 1/ it is Oddworld related 2/ the concept art with the stockyard return music gives you the feeling that after finishing AO, you haven't seen anything so far : the Oddworld universe is much bigger and mysterious but OWI don't want to show you what's next (exactly like AE's ending credits). Elodie Adams will never give you that.

You just can't win them all, Xavier.
|
I don't think Oddworld games should have a specific ending song for the credits. You shouldn't be excited, or heaven forbid uplifted. It's not a glorious finale.
The ambient track works well in AO. I can't speak for NNT yet, but I'm guessing that something with more space would work better for that too. I love the idea of featuring the human voice in OW soundtracks, and it could be done really well, just not with words. |
Needs more throat singing and aboriginal wailing?
|
I was thinking hip hop myself.
|
Dub stahp
