Save The 99

I don't think so. New New N' Tasty Trailer. :) http://www.oddworld.com/2014/07/oddw...aunch-trailer/ |
Hey new screens as well. This one stands out though. What's that hanging off those meat hooks?
http://www.oddworld.com/wp-content/uploads/zulag1.jpg |
Could be Paramites.
There was also another screenshot during the flashy sneaky bit with the 299. http://i.imgur.com/FPAzaei.jpg P.S. Sorry, I didn't realise this was a spoiler, I would've put it in here otherwise. |
Just beat me to posting that lol.
Looks way too big to be Paramites though. Also what the hell did they do to Mullocks voice?! Why does he have to sound like a low pitched dramatized bad guy -_- |
Because he is a low-pitched dramatised bad guy? He's not called "Moloch the Glutton" for nothing.
Look like Scrab torsos to me. |
Not THAT low-pitched
|
:
Perhaps it's just a generic meat shape. hurr hurr |
Oh sweet
That's the kind of trailer I was hoping for. Still got my COMPLAINTS but it's so late in the game it doesn't even matter anymore Thank u JAW |
It makes sense if there are 299 employees now. They seem to have added a lot more mudokons, looking at old gameplay videos of the remake
|
There's 7 muds in that one secret area alone where there used to be 2 (I think). Assuming it's the last secret area before the stockyards.
|
I wonder if they'll put 500 in exoddus, that would be insane.
|
Not really. It doesn't actually make the game any harder. It's just more mudokons per portal to save. No real extra effort.
I think it has more to do with bigger numbers having a more positive effect or something. Like getting 1000 points for a kill in CoD instead of 1. |
Havoc...
|
Yes...?
|
Does this explain why the status board in the E3 build never deducted from 99? Maybe JAW purposely made it stuck at 99 to make it seem like there were 99 mudokons to rescue and using the excuse that it was an unfinished build to brush over it?
|
:
|
Perhaps it's 99 Mudokons you see during the game normally. But the other 200 are all in the secret areas?
|
To quote myself on Facebook:
:
|
Thanks Wil! Or who ever was in charge of showing off the new screens! They're the ones some peeps from here asked to see :D you teased hard with the employee lounge signs but not the actual areas haha. Looking gorgeous!
So it comes out midnight on the 22nd for Australia right? Or midnight on the 23rd? |
:
|
Aren't there 200 mudokons in Abe's Exoddus? Maybe it's a tiny teaser for Abe's Exoddus HD or something? I'm having a hard time believing that they would've added that many mudokons to Oddysee.
E: No wait, my bad, I'm pretty sure there were more than 200 in Exoddus. |
yeah there are 300
|
300 in AE if I remember correctly.
I figured you'd still have to save 99, but maybe there are 299 including future DLC and shiz? |
The Shrykull portal visual is very pretty.
|
Future DLC? Oh god please don't start that crap.
|
I personally believe they will have added in new secret areas, as well as increasing the number of Mudokons in existing ones. It seems perfectly logical, and it will give us seasoned players some new things to look out for. I do have to say I am a bit gutted they put that in though, I'd have rather figured that out by myself to be honest, if it is going to be a secret area-based change.
Although, how is this a spoiler? It's just screenshots from the trailer and speculation surrounding them. It is literally material JAW intended for the world to see, because they released it. Also, all the cool kids hang out in the spoilers section now. |
This thread literally has a screenshot from the final seconds of the game. Why do you think it's a spoiler?
Though technically JAW posted that spoiler themselves. Assholes. What developer spoils their own game? |

|
Can someone please upload this to Togg?
|
Maybe the 299 has something to do with that secret game mode they hinted at some point? Can't remember where exactly they talked about it, but I remember Stewart or someone else saying something about a secret game mode in some video. And didn't the PS Nation stream show a bit of the main menu and there was a locked option there?
|
:
|
But there's still a locked option in the settings too.

Load Game is inside Play Game. |
With 299 they've over tripled the amount of Muds in the game. This means that they, potentially, could have over tripled the size of the game (they almost certainly haven't though.) and so they must've made the game at least a bit bigger, with new levels, etc, I'd say.
I'd guess this would be in new secret levels but I also think they've probably added new not-secret levels as well in which this comes to effect. (Either that or they must've added a load of new secret levels. :P ) And, of course, the rest will, presumably, be added to areas where Mudokons already are, as, as previously mentioned, Abe can now say 'all a ya'. EDIT: Also the thing about this not being a spoiler is actually a good point, really. In the 'Spoiler Sticky' post Nate has said. http://i.imgur.com/61dJbDW.png But this is not beyond a trailer is it? The 299 was in the trailer? :P |
Hey, everyone! Stop being such whiny babies!
If a spoiler gets posted in OD, a moderator will move it here. If a non-spoiler gets posted in here, a moderator will move it to OD. And if a moderator is too lazy to move it, then I guess it counts as a bonus spoiler. So shut yer faces already! |
|
Yeah. 299 instead of 99 is a spoiler. Watching all the recent video-previews, knowing how AO actually works out... Not at all a surprise. There are four times the number of Mudokons where there should be, in quite a few screens.
So, not a surprise that there are more than 99. Alcar... |
Who said this?

Anyway it's available now: http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...p?/recent_pics |
In Eurogamer's little comparison video the Employee Count is 299. So there you go!
