BIGFACE CONFIRMED

I think Unity just can't handle high internal resolutions and that's why the third screenshot looks too blury. Wasteland 2 seems to have the same problem
|
They look nice, the spirit of the original game is most definitely present - I wanna know what a newer version of the game looks like in action, though.
You sure the one up from the bottom isn't from the original FMV? Incoming deluge of negativity and bitching in 3.... 2... |

SO PREEETTY!
Love it, so excited! e: there's blood splatter coming out of Abe's back, maybe it's not one hit kill now? Just wondering because he's still running. |

It's interesting to see how all the sligs have been upgraded to the improved visors with the exception of the slig in the final scene. Apparently he was not worthy of this new equipment. |
I like how much weight Molluck's slig seems to have lost between the first game and the revamp
|
They might be using the original FMV model? Or they might be sticking with it because it's more intimidating, and they want to signify that it's Mullok's personal slig-assistant.
Looking good guys! |
Maybe it's been retconned so the visor upgrade actually started happening through the events of this game rather than immediately after RF getting shut down.
|
Kind of a shame, I liked the idea that both visors would appear like JAW said in that meet and greet at Eurogamer but there's not really any evidence to suggest that the one-eye visor is making an appearance outside of the cut-scenes, plus as SB said, them sligs are looking emaciated. Still, can't really complain, it looks gorgeous.
|
No, the in-game sligs look fine. Mullock's slig, however, looks like skin and bones. Complete with the visor, he comes across as intentionally sickly and poorly taken care of.

They look beautiful! Some of them, a little too beautiful.

This is how Munch should have looked.

Yeah, I'm looking real close at the meat on the weird tentacle face things and hands/forearms. All of them seem to be showing ribs, but Molluck's in specific has very thin, wirey face tentacles, and his forearms and fingers are so thin you could snap them like a twig. The others are much meatier. They might all be malnourished, but it's most prominent in that one specific slig.
Also, the entire game makes Molluck come across as a complete tyrant. It wouldn't surprise me if his personal assistant got it worse than the majority of sligs that work there. |
So when JAW asked us about what is the most important aspect they should consider when making the game, we all said atmosphere was most important.
Can we agree that they nailed it? |
Yeah.
Unlike the marketing |
I'm not sure. I think it's a bit too shiny. Not quite grungy enough.

Also the one you edited reminds me of munches oddysee, not Abe's. There are so many good games coming this year, holy cow. |
I agree, it could do with a bit more "grunge". At the minute it kinda feels like when they turn the lights on in a bar at the end of the night to get everyone out and everything is frighteningly bright.

Note that effects to reduce the amount of reflectiveness in a natural way are balls expensive.
|
Oooo ok @Fuzzleguy. That second pic you edited with the high pass filter over the too looks damn fine. More so suited for the rapture farms interior.
I wonder if modding support will be added or steam work shop support. |
What is that last picture of?
I know it's probably from the Monsaic Lines but in all honesty I have no idea what it is I'm looking at o.o |
That isn't grunge, that's just higher contrast.
Low contrast seems to work better for that scene in particular. |
Whatever JAW paid their flora consultant, s/he's worth it.
|
The angles make me wonder if you can control the camera to a limited degree. That would be crazy helpful, and pretty cool.

Of course they wouldn't let you do a full 360 around Abe or anything even close to that, but I don't think being able to tilt the camera just a tad would be problematic. That way you'd be able to see a little bit ahead, and plan around what you see, while not giving away too much. It's fair enough, considering that you can't take advantage of screens anymore.
EDIT: The Dutch angle in the first screenshot makes me wonder if that's a thing that happens when you die. |
What I was trying to say was that I think you can make the camera scroll left or right, but probably not that much.
|
:
If the NnT screen looks blurry at all my guess would be because of how the screenshot was downscaled – you’d figure any screenshots JAW would send out for publishing would be 1920x1080, yet on the PlayStation site they’re 1024x575 (exactly one pixel away from a perfect 16:9 aspect ratio). It’s feasible that Sony downscaled the screenshots for the site and this had the result of making one particular screen look a little hazy. |

Looks awesome! Think they've nailed the atmosphere for sure.
