vBulletin update

Peter finally updated the forums to vBulletin 3.8.7. A few things might have broken in the move. Please report them here. If you report a problem, please specify what theme you're using and what browser.

Anyone who objects to another person's choice of theme will receive a spam infraction. No warnings.

The first few posts after this one were from the Forum Skin Project thread. They've been moved across to here for neatness' sake.

vBulletin update

Well it looks like XenForo has much more robust styling documentation than vBulletin: http://xenforo.com/help/style-reference/

So is a move to XenForo something you’re seriously considering now? Should we focus on that rather than try and build a skin around the current forum software?

Yes, he's seriously considering it. Just as seriously as he's been considering it for the last four years.

I think you should give up on the idea that Peter is still involved in the running of the forums.

DarkHoodness 06-18-2013 08:47 AM

Didn't he just update the forum from vBulletin 3.6 to 3.8.7?

Varrok 06-18-2013 08:50 AM

Yes, he just did.

DarkHoodness 06-18-2013 08:52 AM

Well, latest version of 3... I wonder if it's any easier to skin.

Nepsotic 06-18-2013 10:11 AM

Oh, that's why I was logged out. Is there anything new?

MeechMunchie 06-18-2013 12:10 PM

The default thread symbol?

Well I get this wonderful mess:

Wings of Fire 06-18-2013 12:49 PM

They light up if you hover over them, but my god yes well done for breaking the forum Peter.

Varrok 06-18-2013 01:54 PM

I DON'T WANT TO VISIT THE FORUMS ANYMORE

EDIT what the hell is this:

Nepsotic 06-18-2013 02:00 PM

That happened to me before, and I'm on a phone. It went back to normal after I refreshed the page.

Nate 06-18-2013 06:13 PM

We've lost the OWI favicon.

Also, there's a part of me that is slightly disappointed that Peter actually did the update. I was going to go through our text message history and post every single intrusive and obscene photo that I've sent him since first requesting the update in November.

Varrok 06-18-2013 09:10 PM

Don't worry, this version will be outdated too some day

Oddey 06-18-2013 10:39 PM

It seems that profiles do not work. Join dates, avatars and last posts don't appear for me.

STM 06-19-2013 03:07 AM

Everything works fine for me so fuck you all.

Also, the calender is still outdated. Sad times.

E: OH GOD I POSTED AND NOW EVERYTHING'S FUCKED.

enchilado 06-19-2013 03:35 AM

What was the benefit of updating?

Phylum 06-19-2013 03:43 AM

It proves that Alcar still has a pace in his heart for us.

DarkHoodness 06-19-2013 05:15 AM

Well someone's having a lot of fun. Hehe.

Wow.

Phylum 06-19-2013 06:05 AM

Am I missing something here or is this some clever hack?

Nate 06-19-2013 06:28 AM

It appears that we can add thread tags. It also appears that it may be broken on some computers.

If you report a problem, please specify what theme you're using and what browser.

DarkHoodness 06-19-2013 06:30 AM

Oh so that's what it is - Now I understand.

For the record I'm using the Native skin on Chrome.

Nate 06-19-2013 06:38 AM

I'd quite like to clean up some of this mess, but Peter didn't actually finish the update. So now I can't access the admin control panel.

STM 06-19-2013 06:57 AM

We're fucked without leadership! How does it feel to be slightly more equal to the unwashed masses, Nate?

I'm also using Native on Chrome and I'm getting all the same problems DH mentioned.

Strike Witch 06-19-2013 07:31 AM

Seems to be working fine for me.

Manco 06-19-2013 11:10 AM

Tags are missing for me on the Industrial theme.

I’m guessing tags won’t work on any theme because there was no tag sprite before vBulletin 3.8.

MeechMunchie 06-19-2013 11:18 AM

Firefox.

Wings of Fire 06-19-2013 11:20 AM

Forum tags can only be seen properly and edited on firefox using the two older themes.

I'm not going to name names, but there's only one person I can think of who uses either of them.

EDIT: I've done a little experimenting with the tags. It's possible for me to remove the ones in Off-Topic, because I'm a moderator there, but any user can add at least two of them. If we're to keep the tag system I suggest first mending it, then making it so only the thread starter and mods can add them, and limit it to one per thread.

Varrok 06-19-2013 12:13 PM

We don't like new features here at OWF

Wings of Fire 06-19-2013 12:23 PM

I don't like people anonymously leaving graffiti in threads. Problem?

Varrok 06-19-2013 12:40 PM

Since it doesn't contradict the thing I said, no problem

Slog Bait 06-19-2013 01:05 PM

Profiles are busted for me, too.

I use Firefox and the Industrial skin

Phylum 06-19-2013 02:49 PM

I figured out how to do it. I won't, but I feel less stupid now anyway.

Tagging shouldn't have to be an issue, but an anonymous system in this place is asking for trouble.

I'm fairly sure admins will be able to see who tagged what, purely because you can apparently distinguish your own tags. It's still an issue though, especially for threads where people are likely to grief others.

Strike Witch 06-19-2013 07:00 PM

I use honeybee, so I can see them in a little tiny bar down the bottom. I only noticed they were there when I posted in this thread though.

Nate 06-19-2013 07:06 PM

I have adminCP access!

Tags have been disabled. I think.

Strike Witch 06-19-2013 07:11 PM

Yep, gone on my end.

MeechMunchie 06-20-2013 10:51 AM

Normality is restored over here.

Havoc 06-22-2013 11:09 AM

Holy shit that only took 4 freakin' years!

Nate 06-23-2013 04:08 AM

After many hours of tinkering, the post reply editor colouring should be fixed. It it's not fixed for anyone, let me know.
