Hello, I think we've all seen these videos of the PS2 Munch's Oddysee Demo.

Now, does this mean that there is actually existing copies of the demo? If so where can you get them?

This is probably going to be like that Exoddus beta. I doubt anyone on here will know, you'll just have to hope the uploader replies. :/

As far as I know those videos were just movies of gameplay concepts. There was never a demo like that for PS2.

Well, it has Abe in it. So that's good enough to want to play it. Just my opinion though.

The first one was just one of the gameplay concept videos that they made before full gameplay development revved up.

The second one I've never seen before, but it looks so similar to the final game that I'd bet it was actually made on the Xbox.

I hope the user does. Out of curiosity, what is this Exoddus beta you mentioned?

1. Because it's alot more like the original Abe games, which I think Munch's Oddysee would've been better if it had been.

The fact it is Oddworld is certainly not a good enough reason to play it, and it's something I always argue against.

The game is bad. Be it Oddworld or not, it's got bad controls, bad gameplay, bag graphics. God knows why JAW bothered doing a HD remake as no amount of polish can save that turd.

It's not just a below-par Oddworld game, it's a bad game in general. Even if you replaced all the Oddworld sprites with different characters it'd still suck and be a disappointing play.

But that's just my opinion. Asserted as fact. Because I'm right.

MO wasn't that bad.

Trying to think of how it could have been worse and the only thing that's coming to mind is "it could have been Sonic 06" but it's basically the Sonic 06 of Oddworld SO...

Okay, it was awful and I'm just biased because vykkers, interns, and gabbits are fantastic creature designs and also the bad ending was fun.

This was way funnier than it had any right to be.

God forbid anyone want to play the game simply because they are a fan of the series.

Yea, games from 2001 typically have shit graphics.

I think the most off-putting part of the good ending was the gabbit foot moon.

Munch wasn't that bad. Most of us have long since accepted that. It was disappointing because of what was promised and it wasn't good, but it wasn't bad.

I don't know if it's worse that Nep is so blindly hating on it or that Pupbenny said that it being Oddworld was a reason to play it.

I have loads of reasons to dislike it. I will go into detail about these reasons tomorrow because at the moment I am tired and wish to sleep.

It being Oddworld is probably the only reason to play MO, though. It's a chunk of the quintology's story that introduces one of the main heroes, and one of the previous heroes plays a large part in. Why would you play it otherwise?

Most people can agree it's probably the worst in the series that's not Oddworld Adventures because dear god, and if you look at it as a stand alone game it's not that bad, but it's far from good. It's in that grey area and there are so many better platformers (and hilariously bad ones) that came out around that time that have better controls, are more aesthetically pleasing, and on multiple consoles rather than being Xbox exclusive. Or, at least previously being Xbox exclusive.

The only real appeal to it that most other platformers didn't have was being able to possess your enemies.

I mean, I guess I can see someone looking at the cover art and going, "HUH, THIS LOOKS INTERESTING. I THINK I'LL PLAY IT." But that's it????

I want to defend Munch because I liked the Vykkers but I can't really.

The creature design was good but that's a given for Oddworld. I enjoyed the game as a game but as an Oddworld title it fell short of the mark.

At the end of the day the creatures' designs are the only thing about MO I could defend.

Seriously, even the soundtrack for MO was sub par.

I wasn't saying that you shouldn't play it even if you're fan. I was saying the fact it's got the Oddworld logo slapped on the box doesn't make it good.

I was a fan and I played it, and I didn't enjoy it, like many others.

But even for the standard at the time, the game was pretty low down on the graphics front. That was my point. It was rushed and disappointingly looked below par in comparison to other games of the time. That's why it has it's cartoon-ish reputation.

I think most of my disdain for the game comes from the fact it simply could have been so much more. It's like that underachiever of a group that had so much potential.

I agree. It could have been so much more. But i think that came from the fact that this was OWI first 3D game. Whole new ball park for them.
