MOD EDIT: This thread was split off from this post here.
So, is anyone looking forward to Resident Evil 6? |
Resident Evil
Well, I haven't played the demo yet, but the only campaign I'm looking forward to is Leon's. And due to the way they're splitting the game, it will probably be about 2 hours long.
So yes, I'm looking forward to it, but only because it's a Resi game, and I trust them, though I probably shouldn't, not since 5. |

They fucked 5 up, but I'm willing to give them another chance.
|
OANST said: "No."
|
I'm not a big fan of Resident Evil. I did love RE4 and the first one but I'm not bothered in the franchise; So I doubt I will play RE6.
And if it's anything like RE5 then it's going to suck. |
Resi 5 didn't suck, It was an OK game and I enjoyed it, but it just wasn't Resident Evil.
|
It sucked at being Resident Evil.
|
It was a good concept but it wasn't achieved well, I also thought it took the scare away from Resident Evil. I found RE4 genuinely scary at times.
|
Resident Evil as a series worked until Resident Evil 3, where Resident Evil as a series should have ended.
Code Veronica I have a bit of a soft spot for, and Resi 4 is a really good game, but really who can bring themselves to care about the plot any longer? |
They keep introducing new elements to it, so even though it stays relatively fresh, it changed too much in Resi 5, which was never even meant to be survival horror.
Yes RE4 was scary every now and again, but only on the first playthrough. I do have to say though, 4 is My favourite, and still stands as one of My all-time favourite games. |
:
The story is a complete and utter atrocious mess. |
:
Wait. I might of played Zelda actually... |
RE4 was scary only at the beginning
|
:
|
I played Resident Evil 1. Never again, I swore, and I have kept to that.
|
|
:
I also think Chris and Leon fighting side-by-side is every fanboy's dream. Who the hell hasn't seen Star Wars? |
:
|
Ha, Leon is cheesy as hell, but that's why he's My favourite character.
:
Resident Evil is a work of art, as is Silent Hill 2. |
Resident Evil is a kind of accidental art just like Henry Darger.
|
Resident Evil (or Capcom games in general TBH) is not really art all. I mean, I guess they are, but I don't see them that way. I just see them as fun games that are fun to play but they don't really make you think that hard.
Silent Hill has a lot more artistic integrity to it than Resident Evil ever will. |
So, you got scared, and that's why you won't play again?
Edit: Speedy shitter. Yes, I agree Silent Hill is much more artsy, and just better in genral, but I enjoy playing Resi |

I just thought it was a crappy game, that was unintentionally funny every once in a while.
|
It is kind of crappy, but has cemented itself in gaming history for being one of the first "modern" survival horror games.
The later (every one after the first) ones are much better. |
The unintentional funniness makes me love it even more. Plus, it's from 1996, what would you expect?
"BLOOD! Hope it's not... CHRIS' BLOOD!" |
I love the idea that nothing that isn't very recent can be good. Like Hemmingway, Tolstoy, and Shakespeare did all their best work after 2001.

I haven't played that, but from what I've seen it's quite a bit different from Resident Evil.
It also completely slipped my mind, so there's that. |
I mean the classic AitD games. They're not that different from RE. In fact RE "borrows" some gameplay elements from it which later became popular within the genre
|
The Resident Evil 6 demo blows, only the Leon part was somewhat enjoyable and they made some gameplay things so much worse. Ok, the moving whilst holding a knife thing is an improvement to be honest but you can get through a horde of zombies just by spamming the right trigger (on xbox) near them and then your character keeps punching them 'till they're all dead. I just thought it was really stupid, I only want to see Leon's part of the game.

That fucking shark... Well, at least you know when Neptune's chasing you, this fucking music starts playing. |
Well we were'nt talking about REmake. We were talking about the hilariously unscary (theres got to be a word for that, but I'm too tired to think of it) original.
|
It wasn't very scary, but it was tense, with the bad controls ect.
That's what annoys me about RE6, the controls. In RE, I'm used to bad controls, I hate these new ones! Leon's campaign was OK at first, but then they had the old "Kill all enemies while I unlock the door". I haven't played the other campaigns yet. |
I've never been hipster enough to consider bad controls a selling point. I'm trying hard, though. I'll get there some day.
|
Shitty storyline and dumb/unoriginal gameplay were considered the best selling points, so why not bad controls?
|
I remember gamespot scored Metroid Prime 3 down because the controls were too intuitive and made the game too easy.
That has to be in the top five reasons to completely disregard anything from that site. |
I loved Metroid Prime 3.
