I certainly hope "deluxe" isn't either. That's the kind of title you appoint to an extra large cheese burger, not a soundtrack. Call it the "extended edition" or something inane like that, but not "deluxe".

Unless of course you are going for that kind of ironic, consumerist "New and Tasty" vibe. In which case, make it "Super Deluxe" and put on a big pink sticker that goes directly over Abe's face.

Also, I'm kind of disappointed. This is the same as the Abe-A-GoGo soundtrack. It still has the fuckdamn sound fx track mixed in with the music.

What's different about the Abe A Go-Go soundtrack then?

I thought they would be identical, and they were from what I remember.

They are the same, which is why I was disappointed. If they were going to re-release the soundtrack, I would have expected something of a remaster.

Lorne said on his facebook that he likes Skrillex, and he said it in the worst possible way. Something about there being "hope for humanity" because people like Skrillex. I died a little inside.

I realize the two have almost nothing in common, I just wanted to complain about that.

I think most of the regulars here already have at least one version of this soundtrack, long before this release.

I dunno. While I look forward to Abe HD, I feel Oddworld is following the trend of every other once-original game company: why take a risk with new stuff when we can repackage the old stuff? It feels kind of... snake-oily to me.

Gotta get their money from somewhere. Re-building AO from the ground up and re modernising it to familiarise new people to a franchise that hasn't seen an original title in over 7 years is a good start IMO. It makes a lot of sense from a marketing standpoint. I just hope it works for them, then we can get more original titles.

It looks promising, providing Microsoft doesn't stick their noses in again.

I want a physical release for the soundtrack, with a lovely box and some other goodies, but I would be a fool to expect that to happen.

Sadly not that many companies are willing to give away physical copies of their products and various merch besides things like clothing. /:

To support the creator financially?



I can think of a couple of reasons.

First, as DH said they need to make money. They don’t have the big investment that large game studios do and it’s been years since an actual disc release, so their money has probably dried up. They need to get some cash back, and re-releasing old stuff on new platforms with some upgrades is a relatively easy way to do that.

Plus, JAW is not a big team. The old OWI team was much larger and could work on large-scale projects no big deal. But for a small team, starting by fixing up the old is more within their scope – and then once they’ve built up a bit they can afford to start working on larger, ground-up projects.

And third, JAW are not the original OWI team. Those guys lived and breathed Oddworld and knew the world like the back of their hand. While the JAW team are self-proclaimed fans, they lacked the intimate knowledge of how the world goes together and how to feed that into a game. Working on the older titles to bring them to new audiences and platforms seems like an excellent way to start building that knowledge.

Thanks for repeating everything I've read a million times over from JAW and their ilk for the last year.

I know the story. I still want something new.

I can't imagine why anyone would have any version of the soundtrack. Free or otherwise.

I like it, or at least about 20% of it. It's mostly just cinematic ambiance like HorribleHarry pointed out.

I want the official scrabania theme or paramonia theme, then again, all in game music was based on something like A.I where what you do alters the music.

Is there any chance of the SW soundtrack vol 2 coming out ever?

If they need money, why don't start with kickstarter site? Let the soundtrack be free like it was.

If Oddworld Inhabitants already has enough money to host a site and do remakes of their previous games with J.A.W and their old game ideas, then there is no need for a Kick Starter. Its just selfish to do one at this point unless they REALLY need it.

Not to mention Kick Starter is for setting goals for ideas that haven't been put to use yet, Oddworld's ideas are already out there.
