Familiar looking creature.
Here's something you all might enjoy. I was playing Space Marine and I saw an enemy that is a spitting image of a Slog. I thought this was an intresting and funny coincidence. It cannot be a copy I don't think since Warhammer is much older then Oddworld.

Ah yes, Squigs. Nasty little buggers. Takes me back to my days of painting Warhammer figurines.
Really, a lot of creatures look like slogs. I always thought the Shriekers from Tremors also resembled slogs. http://www.stampede-entertainment.com/wrmkllr/p8-l.jpg |
Wow, even the name partially resembles Slogs. Moreover, Slogs resemble the names of Squigs. Though I've always had a feeling Lorne isn't 100% original.

I thought Skags from Borderlands were a lot like Slogs...
|
Farzad Varahramyan designed some creatures for a Tremors TV series before Tremors 2 came out, but Tremors 2 released in 1996 and Slogs were designed by Steven Olds in 1994/5.
To conclude: coincidence. Slogs are hardly a once-in-a-lifetime design. They're just exaggerated carnivores with no forelimbs. |
Lol, I never seen the resemblance between squigs and slogs until now. I didn't realise the orks had squigs in 40k though...

I wonder why I said that now. I think it was an immediate feeling of familiarity, but now I don't really see the similarity. I think I was confused with that and the bug things being a lot like headcrabs.

Anyways, I never really related the general design of Giant-head-with-legs to Oddworld. |
That thing also reminds me of a Munch concept.
It's a ravager from WoW. http://www.wow-petopia.com/images/sk...wlerorange.jpg |
I think i've seen that before. It looks a bit like a Scrab.
|
Definitely more Scrab like instead of Gabbit.
|
Definitely a gabbit - just look at this big head with large eyes and a giant foot, it's hard to tell the difference
|
Haha, funny, I put the Ravager = Scrab thing on my blog about a week ago... I'm shocked it took so long for me to notice. I've been playing WoW since BC, and I've been following the Oddworld series since AO was released on the PSX. And I never noticed.

Whats that meant to be? a Fleech look-a-like?
|
:
|
Looks like a Fleech or Paramite...? *Dunno Move* :)
|
It's a thing from Tremors, which have already been mentioned here.
|
How does it look like a Paramite? I cannot see that at all.
|
I always thought the Graboids looked more like Meeches. At least in the mouth area.

my mate said this kinda looks like abe the fish dude out of hellboy does it i dont know

Well... he's blue and his nose is small (almost non-existent), and he wears shorts so he is kind of similar :P Can't tell how many fingers he's got from the pic
|
Well, they're also both named "Abe".
But beyond the blue skin and big eyes, I never saw much of a similarity. There's even less of a similarity in the original artwork, in which Abe Sapien is far more humanoid than his movie counterpart. http://thefaust.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/abe.jpg |
|
Oh my goodness, you're right Chris. It's just like when Dracula copied Twilight!
|
Wait. Are you talking to me?
I always assumed Abe was given his name after Lincoln, who freed the slaves. Or would the rest of you have preferred "Monkfish"? |
There was an "Abe" (Abraham) in Bible... No direct mention of sligs though... Still searching...

Apologies, I go more with calling CP Chris cause I've met him irl. I usually just think of you as SS for the time being. ;)
|
They say knowing sbd's name is like to have power over him... cool
|
Abe is obviously named after Homer's dad, what with the 'Odyssey' reference.

What about WP?

I call him Crash.
