What is this?
|
The Abe's Oddysee launch screen. Haven't you seen it before?
EDIT: Yes, that was a joke. I'm not sure, really; it looks like a Glukkon face in the middle, but what would Glukkons be doing with a stone seal? |
Abe's Oddysee running in an X11 environment?
EDIT: Oh, I thought he meant he wondered what it was because because he wants to run AO on his new Mac. That thing in the background is the Oddworld version of the Quake logo. |
The sharp pointed things to the left and right of the Glukkon head represent the devil's horns. This is to emphasise the evil deeds the Glukkons are going to do in the game. This is me bullshitting by the way.
|
Is it not perhaps a glukkon seal from the age of alchemy before they became industrialists. A la Oldger type design.
|
It would probably help if you told us where this is from.
|
What?
It's not obvious!? |
I don't know, but I've always wondered. In fact, I think there's an old thread where I asked exactly the same question and no-one had any answers then.
EDIT: That last sentence wasn't meant as a criticism. Just proof that I had wondered about it and never got any answer. |
...That thing confuses me. I like the quake bit though, lol.
|
EDIT: New posts.
|
It’s the OWI logo, upside-down, with a Glukkon face where the purple gem would be.
Case closed, let’s get drunk. |
|
:
LETS GO! |

|
Im already drunk. What do I do ?
|
Come see us.
|
Bring booze.
|
Good thinking Max,
I'm too tight with money. |
Hell, I'll join in. Sounds like a blast.
|
I can supply vodka and or cider.
Also...I'm 16 years old and what is this? |
Vodka bad!
And this is a thread created so we can all arange a drunken night out. |
I dont drink, but I find drunks funny. And I take advantage of someone, I'd imagine. lol
|
I liked to imagine that it was something the Glukkons sculpted back when they were spiritualists.
|
The Glukkon in the middle of the symbol looks stoned.
|
I actually so see that, although he'd have a stupid grin as well.
|
I wanna see lulu stoned off his ass, just doing that goofy ass laugh from AE.

Even if I did just find it on the internet,
I would still be asking the same question. |
I want to know what the turtle-hunter was.
|
I laughed my ass off at turtle-hunter.
|
Some sort of SW concept art.

I think Paramiteabe was referring to the Musklum. I'm not sure.
I don't recall any turtle-like hunters, except maybe the early Swanland painting featured in Spectrum that depicted one of the Outlaws without the trademark Dr. Seuss hat. |
:
This thing appears to have some bowser-like shell. And this Grubb's shield makes it look like a turtle. Sort of. Neither of them look like a glukkon though, in which case turtle-hunter may have been an early name for gloktigi or oktigi. Admire me for quoting from an eight-year-old thread. |
Or we could just wait for Max to tell us what he was talking about. I don't see any kind of "shell" on that concept art. It has a hunch back, but it's hairy, so it's certainly not a shell.
As for Oktigi/Gloktigi; the concepts for those existed long before SW, and there was nothing turtle-like about them. |
The turtle-hunter was just what "we" called Blisterz Booty back when we only had ridiculously low-res screen shots of him from SW's opening movie. He looked turtle-like. *shrug*
|
That was my first inclination, but I quickly dismissed it thinking Blisterz Booty couldn't possibly look like a turtle under any circumstances. :p

That's not me! I would never use such garish smilies!
I miss Mac. He was fun. |
