Keep our English members in mind
With the rioting going on, it seems like more and more cities are breaking out.
Max, Jenny, Nate, etc. Stay safe, kay? |
What I don't understand is why they're happening - They don't appear to have any unified cause. This can't be all because some (armed!) guy was shot by police. I knew UK's society had several problems with more and more anti-social behaviour caused by deprivation that nobody's done a damned thing about, but really? It's come down to this?
I'm worried about what the government will do next to try and prevent this from happening again, and how many of our rights they'll cut, such as the right to protest. |
I thought Nate was down under
|
Nate is Australian.
EDIT: You speedy shit, Daxter. |
I'm not allowed into work today because Mile End station is out of bounds and the rioting is taking to the streets at the same time I finish so my Dad doesn't want to take me in or pick me up and quite frankly I don't want to be less than five minutes away from one of the epicentres.
Yesterday on the way home I saw an armoured column of police vehicles driving down the wrong side of the road to get to Brixton or Islington quicker! It's quite worrying especially now that arsonists have attacked Birmingham and Liverpool. The Brits have always rioted, recently more in the last 50 years, there were riots in Tottenham in 1985 remember about supposed police brutality and racial tension. Unfortunately thugs and scum and racial extremists are taking this as an opportunity to wreak havoc and steal from poor defenceless civilians, so let's go N. Ireland on their arses? Water cannons, tear gas, batons. Anyone who is out shouldn't be so the police know who is a target! Oh and now we are a laughing stock for the Olympics, China has written in its government paper that: "The Olympics will be hosted next year; the security situation in London, which has always been a first-choice site for terrorist attacks, will be even grimmer. British police now face two main problems. First, as the government cuts police funding in order to reduce the deficit, British police will carry out massive layoffs. With insufficient manpower and financial resources, they will inevitably be overwhelmed with problems in maintaining social order. Second, after the News of the World phone-hacking scandal, the credibility of the British police has declined and there is still a very long way to go in rebuilding the credibility of the police and restoring public support," -- Qu Bing, Institute of European Studies, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations. |
Wait, where did alf's post go?
|
We've been told to pass this around:
|
EDIT: STM beat me to it, I wanted to post exactly the same thing.
WTF though. |
Seriously, scum like this pisses me off. Lowest of the low. Bullet in the kneecaps for every single one of them. I have no sympathy with these morons what so ever.

I wanted to share that here on my own accord after seeing it on a live stream from BBC news while I ate my breakfast, I wasn't told by anyone.
Oh and I picked this out while reading through media garbage. Being scumbags for the sake of being scumbags: :

Considering how close I live to Cardiff I'm sure I'd hear something by now. |
It will be brilliant if we can lose the Olympics over this. I will laugh for days.

I hope you meant me when you said Nate at the top. I don't think anything's happened in wales yet though. Hope it doesn't either. over 400 arrests already. There's going to be a lot more.
They need to bring in the army imo. |
Oh and another thing. Everybody's felt the cost of rising food and fuel prices (I'm spending £40 a week on food to feed myself and my mum, last year that was about £29-£30ish for the same goods), the fact that there aren't many jobs available while the government keeps cutting benefits and jobseekers allowances. Also, these riots coincide with a major stock market plunge - Which probably means prices will go up even more. And some of these riots are happening in the poorest areas of London...
Anyone else think this is all related somehow? Lets just hope this isn't the start of society collapsing or something. |
To me the majority of the "protesters" are causing havoc because they are bored, stupid, and fucking retarded chavs who will look for any excuse to make themselves look big. They have taken this as an advantage because they can make it look as if they're annoyed with how the country is being run. Bullshit, as long as they're getting their fags and nappies for their babies they don't give a shit what's going on.

Their school is terrible as well... |
When Egypt protests, thousands gather in Tahrir Square in peaceful protest.
When Britain protests, everyone robs each other. I hate people. |
If think tonight is the pivotal one, if things don't simmer down then by Wednesday they will have to call in the army or invest more freedom in the individual police units. Numbers are swelling...

Riots have broken out where i live, Nottingham.

Sorry, but I felt I had to post this weird coincidence.
Literally 10 mins after reading that this happened. http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/1179/rioting.png |
This whole situation is ridiculously stupid. Looting and beating up people just because a man got shot. Oh and found this video earlier, the woman (?) is completely right.
|
What game is that?
Dat guy is like a gang land Shakespeare as well, "Once more into the breach what what"! |
The youtube comments are right. Give that lady a medal, she tells it as it is. Shame she swears too much for the news channels to broadcast it. :(
|
|
Nottingham is about half an hour away from where I live. I wonder how long it'll take before some stupid fuck starts in my area. Fucking hell.
|

I have the pleasure of being in a high-class little market town. If anyone starts rioting here it'll be because Waitrose ran out of elderflower cordial.
Having said that, they don't stock canola oil, which pisses me off. Time to get my Heinekan parasol out? |

It's cooling down, the mobs are smaller this evening, I think things are cooling down.

How did you start the combustion Bullet Magnet, a cunning scientific exothermic reaction? Was there caesium involved?
