Anyone up for a scare?

I have it. Don't know what to do with it since I'm too scared to keep playing D:

Keep playing it, it's a treasure of a game and by far the scariest I've played in a long time. I have yet to finish it myself mind you, but that has something to do more with needing to finish other titles first.

It really is a brilliant game, though.

I haven't even encountered my first monster yet, and it's creeping me out. I'll keep playing, I'll be brave. If you insist.

The fact that there is rarely an encounter with monsters gives the game that jumpy, scary feel. The atmosphere of the game really is the only thing you're terrified of, it gets shit more scarier whenever you do encounter one of the cunts.

I keep thinking it's going to come, yes. I'm at the start of the game, just completed to book puzzle that opens the secret door behind the bookshelf. It made me feel really good, and I felt like I was getting somewhere. I wasn't scared until I went in and picked up the key to the wine cellar. I keep thinking a monster is gonna jump out at me now.

I like(d) Silent Hill, should I get this or Alan Wake?

If you like Silent Hill, get this.

I haven't played Alan Wake so I can't give a good excuse to pick this game over it but your money will be well spent picking this game up.

Alan Wake is a good game but it's definitely not scary.

I have this game myself. I'm looking for some kind of drill thingy to fix an elevator, but I'm too scared to play any further at the moment. I know I really should though, because it is awesome.

Played the demo for this, the water part was not near as scary as everyone was making it out to be.

Though considering Dead Space already manages to scare the shit out of me, I'd probably have a fear seizure if I played the full game of this.

Fuck me is it scary! I don't like to play AtDD at night by myself...I love the story line and the game but boy is it freaky.

The one game that scared me to shit was AvP gold. I couldn't play as marine at all.

I think the only game that's ever scared me is Silent Hill 4.

Expect a flood "SH4 was the worst one" faggotry. In my opinion, it was actually one of the better ones of the series.

I haven't actually played Amnesia yet. It came out right after I gave up on PC gaming indefinitely. I've watched several play-through segments and looked up pretty much every "scary" scene on youtube, so I don't think the game itself would offer any real surprises for me at this point. I do highly recommend it based on what I've seen though.

I think it's the worst one, but it's definitely the only one that scared me. The claustrophobia theme in particular, and the psychological torture of the prison did nothing good for my nerves

The circular prison was a stroke of genius. The prisoners' journals you read in the cells made your skin crawl.

We should call this thread "Scary games".

There's this wacky game called LSD - Dream Emulator for the PS1, only released in Japan. It's really disturbing and strange rather than actually scary. It's just fucked up.

I've had this game in my Steam library for months and I've only tried playing it once. It didn't help that I had just finished watching an LP of the game and I was expecting every distant noise to be one of the monsters.

I have to play this with a few friends so I don't feel so alone. CHRIS GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE

I just finished the game. After reading this I thought I should try it out and yeah it was really fun to play and scary as hell.

Penumbra by the same developers, and the F.E.A.R series is quite good, then there's Silent Hill and the first three Resident Evil's. Those should keep you occupied.

I was never really scared of SH2, So I don't understand why everyone is afraid of it.
Amnesia...I've heard a lot about it, but I'm not scared of enviroments.
LSD looks good though. I heard of this one guy who kept playing it for a good six months or so, so it just kept getting scarier and more disturbing, until finally it glitched out and now all he can see is a black screen.

Silent Hill 2 isn't scary, but it is a masterpiece.

Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4 and the earlier town sections of Silent Hill 1 are scary.

Yeah, definitely try out the Penumbra series, it's really good and quite scary.

Also, you might like Dead Space (I haven't played Dead Space 2 though, don't know about that.) and it's 75% off on Steam right now I think.

Doom 3 is pretty scary too, but I'm pretty sure almost everyone has played it by now.

I shat myself playing Doom 3 when I was 11. Didn't even really get an hour into the game.

Strangely, it's not the creepers or spiders that startle me, it's the skeleton archers. Those guys are assholes.

Hmm, There was this one game that freaked me out as a kid, Doom 3? The chaotic setting and disturbing descent into madness really frightened me.
I tried playing it about a year ago, but couldn't get the controls down in time to save myself from zombies. I gave up.

I saw this picture of a realistic creeper somewhere, and it was like this old shriveled up person and stuff. That was pretty creepy.
BUT to get back on topic, I recently had a dream, or more a memory, of a boss in Doom 3. It was that one, with the top half of a man and the bottom half of a spider. I think that one was one of the most disturbing because they really reinforced how unnatural he was. He was all dragging himself around on his twisted legs trying to get to you, screaming in agony when the bullets tore through his malnourished muscles...
Yeah. He's the only boss I can remember, but he was definetly the creepiest.

I was reading about this blatantly sexual game for like the atari or something, and I watched a few clips of that and found it very disturbing. I don't know if it was because of the 8-bit dicks or what.

I just got chased down by water lurkers.
Then I thought, "Screw this I can play Final Fantasy!"

Well if you go insane in the game, everything will be upside down for starters. Also im not quite sure if there really is monsters in the game.
