Oddworld resemblance
 

So i was looking at some oddworld concept art and i came across this

now, i know that most oddworld wildlife is related to earth's wildlife like

slog => dog
slig => squid or slug (i presume anyway)
and so on...

but from this diagram is it fair to say the original concept of a gabbit was related to a frog?

and what other resemblances are there in oddworld wildlife?

Yes, Munch is described in the art book (and probably other sources) as amphibious. Also his babies are tadpole-like.

EDIT: Also, in the art book, the name slig is a cross of slug and pig.

Didn't we have a thread for this? Any way you can find resemblances everywhere because how does an artist draw inspiration otherwise? For example Paramonia is based on Sherwood Forest and that was actually one of the names the concept art was labelled under if I remember correctly from the art book. Actually it might have been Petrified Forest I forget...

I've always thought parts of Oddworld creatures look or are based on Human Hands, I won't go into it because i'm pretty sure that discussion has already been made.

Mudokons, Glukkons and other sentient species are all humans, they only show different aspects of human nature.

Obviously the designers of the Oddworld series take insipration from real species. Most game developers, heck even in the music and film industries people have to be inspired by certain elements to get the ball rolling.

And Nate, take a look at yourself. This is an Oddworld forum. Like anyone gives an actual toss about an infraction in real life. You probably love having power on here, but it doesn't make a difference in the real world.

You'd be amazed. If people didn't really care about infractions, I wouldn't have received so much abuse in my inbox.

Also, infractions lead to banning, which leads to peace and quiet for the rest of us.

People (generally BM) look to far in to this shit. As someone said on the last page, glukkons, sligs, muds, gabbits, vykkers, interns (well perhaps not interns), steef, clakkerz, outlaws and wolvarks are all just based on aspects of human personality. Mudokounmay have evolved from birds but that does not mean they have bird-personalities.

Lorne isn't some deity who spent an eternity constructing OddWorld so all the species make evolutionary sense.

I was generally interested that time!!! Why would they call paramites and scrabs arachnids sr. and arachnid jr. ? I can understand the paramite being arachnid jr. obviously but scrabs...I don't see the resemblance.

I don't see the resemblance of paramites to arachnids. Not any more so than scrabs, certainly.
