Doublefine's Trenched
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/02/trenched/
I dunno. Not really my sort of thing, but I can see how it could be fun. |
Meh.
Looks manly, so not many people here will like it.
It may be good or it may be awful. Either way I think Ghost will like it. |
Damn...
Check the blogs, then edit that post.

Yeah, for real.
I like the look of it, but I'm a sucker for Mech games with that whole "phallic gun mounted on metal legs" aesthetic. It should be fun. |
1. Game could be fun, probably won't be.
2. Double Fine really like calling their games contextless verbs, don't they? 3. When I first saw this thread's title I thought Double Fine had gone bust. |
I love mech games, hopefully this turns out awesome. Its also published by Microsoft, so hopefully they will market the shit out of it, getting a ton of sales.

You have to ask?
Then again, I've never much liked any of doublefine's games, so who knows.
You feculent little troll.
Ze!
Well, hopefully this will cheer up OANST at least a bit.

I agree. Not liking Psychonauts??? Do you not have a soul Strike Witch?
'Didn't like' I can live with. If she disliked it, I say we burn her.
Who the hell dislikes Psychonauts, but like Gundam? She's got it all backwards!
Trenched. More proof that anything is awesome when you throw robots/mechs into something. Plus, It's Double Fine. It has to be funny.
Brutal Legend wasn't funny.
BURN |

And that sentence may well be the worst insult I have ever paid out on anyone. |

It's more of a tower-defence game with shooty-fighty aspects. Looks like it has a reasonable backstory too.
Well, I think it's going to be fun/ny. Anyone who doubts that will promptly be destroyed.

And I thought I had to go to DoubleFine's forums for this kind of loyalty.
I still say it could go either way. Story looks imaginative, gameplay doesn't.
Trenched will be released on June 22nd. It's gonna be 1200MSP. The intro:
Looks really fun from this preview, likely going to get this.
Trenched is actually very good. The matchmaking works really well, which is a good thing because it's a lot more fun to play with other people than it is to play by yourself. It's still fun to play alone, but it can get really stressful once you complete the first region. The amount of customization is pretty damn impressive for an Arcade game, and half the fun is outfitting your mech (or trench) with the different weapons and body types available. It's a definite balancing act. You need to make sure that you are outfitted with weapons strong enough to damage whatever type of enemy is going to prevalent on each particular battlefield, but you also want to make sure that you are carrying guns that reload fast enough, carry enough ammunition for the situation, and make enough scrap when shooting enemies to build up your turret placements as needed.
I wonder when they're going to release it in Europe.
Some guy already has the name Trench and variations there of copyrighted for some board game, hence the delay.
