Digimon Adventures was excellent.

Digimon Adventures 02 was ...not.

Ridg3 01-13-2011 01:13 PM

Dexters Lab, Ed Edd and Eddy, DBZ, Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Cramp Twins, Powerpuff Girls, Big Guy and Rusty, Samurai Jack.

Emesdee 01-13-2011 02:05 PM

I liked the standard 80's fare, like Transformers (which didn't hold up well at all), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Real Ghostbusters. Turtles lasted the longest, and I stuck through with it to the bitter end, with it's misguided attempt to be dark and serious.

Dixanadu 01-13-2011 02:37 PM

Oggy & The Cockroaches was my highlight of my Saturday morning line up. Still is, the opening theme cracks me up.

keeperxiii 01-13-2011 02:44 PM

Top cat lol

Tom and Jerry and the Looney tunes were awesome and Sonic Underground was...

Oh, I remember watching some of that too. Only a handful of episodes, but it was fun.

MeechMunchie 01-13-2011 11:24 PM

Fairly Odd Parents was good.

Yep, that young.

Ridg3 01-14-2011 12:28 AM

Yes, how could I have not mentioned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (The 1980's one,) Christ, that show is iconic to my childhood. As is Spiderman (1994 jobby,) that show was such a good show.

Nemo 01-14-2011 12:42 AM

Tom and Jerry.

I still watch it.

Manco 01-14-2011 04:48 AM

For some reason Fantomcat has been the only cartoon from my childhood that really stuck in my head.

keeperxiii 01-14-2011 06:14 AM

I used to watch Ruroni Kenshin and Dragonball z as a kid. Ruroni had.. a little blood in it.

Wings of Fire 01-14-2011 06:27 AM

Most shonen does, if it's not licensed by 4kids.

keeperxiii 01-14-2011 06:37 AM

I loved bloody shonen as a kid. Who didn't? Poor kids nowadays only watch crap.

ziggy 01-14-2011 09:02 AM

I do remember Dragonball, Pokemon, and Powerpuff Girls being the shit. HATE Ed, Edd, n Eddy!

I also liked Bump in the Night a lot. So good watching late at night, of course.

HATE Ed, Edd, n Eddy!

Were you beaten as a child?

ziggy 01-14-2011 09:09 AM

A little bit, but that has nothing to do with why I hate that show.

Manco 01-14-2011 09:18 AM

Sorry to be the one to tell you, but you're a sad broken husk of a human being.

MA 01-14-2011 09:21 AM

Ren & fucking Stimpy, man. also The Trap Door and what i can remember of Farthing Wood.

MeechMunchie 01-14-2011 09:23 AM

It's Pilot!

Ren & fucking Stimpy, man.

Yes, this too. But I thought it would be a given since I've already said how much I love this cartoon before.

@Oddhunter: Ed Edd n Eddy is a shitty cartoon!! It has terrible artwork, annoying unimaginative characters, and practically the same gimmick in every episode.

MA 01-14-2011 09:25 AM

THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR REN & STIMPY

I personally love the art style; it's unique and all of the characters and environments are stylised in a way that adds to the show.

Every character has a different personality and interacts well with other characters. Also note many of the characters are MEANT to be annoying - it's a standard way of making an audience dislike the character they're supposed to.

It uses the same gimmick every episode because the episodes are meant as standalones; if you're looking for a series-long story arc you're not watching the right cartoon.

...I wrote way too much about a kid's cartoon.

This is possibly the worst thing that I have ever read on this forum. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is one of the finest pieces of television ever made. There is no gimmick. It's about childhood, and it fucking nails it. The characters are not only more convincing than in any other kids' show of it's type, but they are honest in an exaggerated way that makes it fascinating for kids, and endearing to adults. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is perfection. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is a summer day.

ziggy 01-14-2011 09:41 AM

Well I don't like it. The art style just really puts me off more than anything. That's the true reason I can't stand it. The rooms full of one color, the squiggly line people, and the flat heads. I can't look at it.
I don't think it reflects childhood either.

I don't much care for Ed, Edd and Eddy (Something I'd chalk to overexposure as a teenager more than anything) but I don't understand how you can hate the art style of that and love Ren and Stimpy (Again, something I don't care much for).

Truthfully they are completely different, and while the early Ren and Stimpy cartoons might be herky jerky, the refined ones made before John K. got kicked out (The Games Animation ones were not good, and I don't consider them true Ren and Stimpy) were drawn and animated infinitely better than any Ed Edd and Eddy episode.

I could show some examples later if you care, but I realized I gotta finish this school thing real quick and I'm not sure you do care for me to babble on and show image examples since you don't like the show anyway.

The exception to this is the E,E&E Movie, which was an Armageddon of gorgeous animation.

Except that this is like saying that rock is better than jazz. They are completely different styles, and no one should ever try to compare them.
