Female Steef?

I've had a snoop around but I don't recall female steef being mentioned anywhere...So, are there female steef? If there are, do they exist like the majority of oddworld creatures as queens of a large colony? I was hoping they'd be more abundant than that...(Well, before Sekto got ahold of them). Any info would be appreciated, but a total mystery would be more liberating to my creativity XD

ziggy 12-26-2010 04:42 AM

Yes there is a queen Steef. She's most often called the Queef.

Why? Do they do it for you?

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 04:45 AM

...Is that a joke...? I really hope it is..."Queef", I lol'd XD

Ew Max!!! I was going to make a character that was a female steef, but I didn't want people to go, "NO!!! U DOIN IT RONG!!! D:<"

Andrelvis 12-26-2010 04:56 AM

I think there would be female Steef, yes. All species that have "queens" in Oddworld that we know off are egg-laying, and Steef are mammals, which except for two varieties don't lay eggs, and have a relatively small quantity of offspring.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 04:59 AM

Cool! So now I can get started on my character! :3 What do you think a female steef would look like? I'm thinking straighter horns and a more slender physique...Perhaps more feline?

Also, are there any good references of what Stranger's legs would look like if he had the operation to get them joined together? (I think that's what the op was for...I hope I'm not completely wrong...XD)

Of all the Oddworld species we know are super species (only four, by the way), to the best of my memory only for one has it been mentioned whether the queens lay eggs or live young, and that's Mudokons. In addition, Glukkon and Mudokon queens have breasts - hundreds of them, in fact - so don't go saying they're not "mammals". Oddworld's tree of life isn't easily mapped onto our own.

Udders.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 06:08 AM

Udders? That's not what I had in mind...XD The lower half doesn't really matter because she'll have cybernetic legs a little like slig pants...I'm not going to put HUGE BOOBS on her or anything...Maybe not even at all? I'll have to work a few designs out.

Wil 12-26-2010 06:10 AM

If she has udders she won't need boobs.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 06:19 AM

Ah yes but if she did have udders I'd think she'd cover them up...They're technically boobs...

Wil 12-26-2010 06:22 AM

I'm not saying you should show them.

Hulaabeo 12-26-2010 06:31 AM

They look centaur-like. So shouldn't their... udders.... be on her chest?

STM 12-26-2010 06:36 AM

And that folks, is why Lorne never made a female steef. Anywho steef is a manly name, should be steefette!

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 06:56 AM

I heard Staif being banted around...Or Staef? Steeph? XD She's proving real difficult to draw...All the reference pics have a really masculine face...DX

Wil 12-26-2010 07:21 AM

Try giving her stilleto-heeled hooves.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 07:51 AM

Rofl...Actually, hmmm...We'll see...

EDIT: I love spore...It's kinda lazy to make it on there, but it gives me an idea ^_^

http://i54.tinypic.com/23wsepv.jpg Obviously it's a bit derpy, but it has heel hooves!!! :D

Does this apply to the species seen in Stranger's Wrath, though? Seems to me like Clakkerz, Grubbs and Outlaws had males and females similar to humans, so I assumed that carried over to Steef as well.

Also, Steff.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 08:45 AM

Steff...That sounds great! :3 Btw the picture only has two legs because of the aforementioned cyborginess.

Given that I was only describing four species—Mudokons, Glukkons, Sligs and Paramites—it can't possibly apply to the species in SW. Obviously Clakkerz and Grubbs have roughly equal numbers of males to female and we can presume their respective reproductive models are ostensibly the same as ours. Wolvarks mention their wives (in the singular :p), which, taken as canon, means they form monogynous, and presumably monogamous, relationships, implying the same is true for them.

Outlaws, on the other hand, we only see one female of the species, their numbers appearing vastly male-dominated. When Nate asked Lorne if Outlaws were a super species (seventh comment of Nate’s down), Lorne couldn't remember. We could wonder why OWI went to all the trouble of making female Clakkerz and Grubbs but (nearly) only male Outlaws, but then the only Grubb warriors we see are male, so maybe both races are just sexist when it comes to who should perform certain societal roles.

Don't think so. The Resistance Leader was, but we never saw her warrioring, only strateging.

For those confused, I will once again point out that "Frayda Evryting" and "Native Resistance Leader" have separate profiles: http://gamespot.com/xbox/adventure/o...&mode=previews

Manco 12-26-2010 01:05 PM

I never knew that. I just assumed the name Frayda referred to the Resistance Leader, and didn't bother looking closely.

Still seems logical to assume that since the leader is female there's no Grubb law against female warriors - we never see her fighting because she's the leader, not cannon fodder.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 01:30 PM

I tried drawing her, but that broad nose is far from feminine! DX I'll upload tomorrow.

Nate 12-26-2010 04:09 PM

There have been some theories that Stranger may be female.

http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=12408

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 04:34 PM

Good theories...But if it is the case it feels very, "P.S. Dumbledore's gay even though I din't indicate that in ANY of the books..." I mean, why would OWI design a very masculine figure and not put any hint that he is really a she? (The arguements in that thread aren't all that solid imo). We could ask them, but I am pretty sure they'd laugh and go, "Wtf you talkin' 'bout bro?!" Because it's really obvious.

As I say, I'll upload my version tomorrow...I don't really like it though...

Strike Witch 12-26-2010 06:04 PM

Damn Furries in my fucking Oddworld

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-26-2010 06:13 PM

Lol furries...Maybe I should start posting Rule 34 SW? XD I kid...My character isn't going to be some freakish murry-purry cat woman with huge breasts. In fact, she doesn't have breasts. Her outfit is a bit tomb raider-ish imo, but there's room to tweak and improve!

I assume you're talking about the slig in the bonnet and dress. Well, I don't want to blow your mind or anything, but just because someone is dressed like a lady, it doesn't mean they actually are one.

It wasn't a Hand of Odd picture, it was a Munch's Oddysee picture, i.e. a cut character. The Game Show Hostess Slig worked along the Game Show Host Slig (also known as the Valet Slig) in hosting the popular gameshow Name That Trauma.

I am fairly sure that Stranger wouldn't be the only Steef who wants to conceal his identity, assuming of course that there are other steef out there. Rest assured that I'm not designing this character as yet another tacky love interest by a childish fangirl. She doesn't even live anywhere near Stranger.

So far I have decided on her living and working in an industrial environment, either training sligs to be better at seeking out any rebellious workers which Abe has inspired or seeking them out herself. She fled from her homelands when Sekto had started mass-killing her kind, but because she was young she did not fully understand what was going on.

In regards to her legs, I'm debating between her losing them in some horrific accident, probably a machine of some kind, or alternatively she manages to find a glukkon ignorant enough not to recognise her as a steef and agree to pay to have cybernetic legs fitted in return for her work.

As you can see, it's really patchy at the moment. But I'm being very careful not to fall into those fan-fiction clichés that I can tell you're all dreading :B Please feel free to give any crits or comments on my ideas by the way!

CYBERNETIC LEGS
Hm.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-27-2010 04:25 AM

To be honest my first idea didn't have cybernetic legs, but I couldn't think of a convincing biped steef design. Also, because she was working with sligs, to me the "pants" could give her a means to relate to the sligs and give her a more industrial feel. These are only early designs though, if you can help me think of something else for the legs I'll be happy to hear it.

Strike Witch 12-27-2010 05:55 AM

she might as well be a slig with boobs.

Foxtrot Wolfwhistle 12-27-2010 08:26 AM

Except she doesn't have boobs...Geez guys, you're not helping much XD What do you suggest?
