Thoughts on battle L.A trailer?
Well i just seen battle L.A trailer today and it looks SWEET! But the only thing I'm worried about is that the alien things look like transformer robots at least the part when it stands up, but i wonder if this has any connection or familiarity with the game Resistance because some guy that was driving through the movie set up spotted the resistance 3 billboard? So what are your thoughts about the trailer?
Movie Trailer Resistance 3 spotting |
I am indifferent to it.

Looks entertaining. As long as the aliens aren't here to brain control us or steal our minds or lame bullshit and are actually here for slaves or something interesting, it should be fun.
|
It was atmospheric but boring until they actually got around to showing the aliens. Then it was just boring.
|
looks good i guess i will see it
|
I dunno but if it has anything to do with Resistance it must be ABAP, right Ryuu?

Alliens invading planet earth and destroying everything. Yeah, that hasn't been done a 1000 times already...

I'm not convinced that the title "Monsters" refers to the creatures at all.

I mean, we never saw the socio-political impact of Cloverfield, did we? The exclusion zone around New York, the global economic collapse, the call to arms of America's enemies after watching a demon from the pit trash their crown jewel etc. The closest we've had was District 9, but in that setting the actual "invasion" if you like, was a rather damp squib. For starters, the two main characters of Monsters are trekking through the infection zone because someone stole their passports in what's left of Mexico. They might otherwise have flown around it on board a commercial airline. And the creatures are SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER |
That trailer made me think of Beyond Good & Evil.

Meh, I don't know, it looks like something that's been done before with cloverfield, despite what BM says. Plus the giant cthulu is just expectable

Alien life forms have spread throughout the U.S.-Mexico border region leading to the quarantine of half of Mexico. The U.S. and Mexican militaries are battling to contain the creatures, with a wall stretching along the American border. The film starts with a scene of an army patrol driving on an empty road in the middle of the night. An explosion takes place flipping one of the vehicles. The following brief scenes show US soldiers firing at the tentacled creature that ambushed the patrol. In the background a transmission is heard from one of the soldiers obtaining approval for a danger close airstrike, meanwhile a man in civilian clothing is screaming for help and attempting to drag a woman off the road and away from the creature. The soldiers try to withdraw as the man is seen lifting the woman and trying to carry her away. Moments later a missile is seen homing on the head of the tentacled creature. The story rewinds a few days prior to the ambush. It follows Andrew, an American photojournalist helping his wealthy employer's daughter, Samantha, get back to America. In Mexico, Andrew buys Samantha a ferry ticket to return to America, but he gets drunk the night before they leave, and wakes up to find their passports have been stolen, so they have to travel by land through the infected zone. Their journey takes them across Central America and eventually back into the United States. When they finally make it back, Andrew and Samantha realize that the city they reach is abandoned. After walking along an evacuation route, the two find an abandoned gas station. Andrew calls the police, who say the Army is in the area, and will come to their rescue. After a brief encounter with two aliens, Samantha whispers, with tears in her eyes, "I don't want to go home." The army arrives, and the screen fades to black. At this point the openning scene of the movie takes place as the army patrol is seen driving on the road at night.
Well that was shit |
I don't know why you would do that.

Bewildered.

I like how the longest part of the movie was summed up in about a sentence and a half.

I challenge anyone to find a Wikipedia plot synopsis that actually does the film, book, comic whatever justice.

The synopsis did the novel complete justice in that it convinced me it wasn't worth reading. |
I thought that was what WoF's post was about, too. It totally convinced me to never have anything to do with it.
