There are many ways to find this out without starting a thread. Also, this would belong in QnA if it wasn't so easy to figure out.

RyuuFox 09-12-2010 06:47 PM

Why do you post so many threads in a day?

Stitchlips -X--X- 09-12-2010 08:20 PM

because i was bored=P

Dynamithix 09-12-2010 08:38 PM

It is Mudokon. If you mean by more than one Mudokon, then Mudokons. That easy! Now repeat it.

Find other ways to ease your boredom.

EDIT: I don't mean leave the forum, although it may come across like that.

tehbug 09-12-2010 11:39 PM

Sorry, accidental post.

Phylum 09-13-2010 12:14 AM

Good start!

For future reference, that is his first post.

Splat 09-13-2010 01:12 AM

There is not an 'e' in 'Mudokon'. This is what you're doing wrong.

moxco 09-13-2010 01:22 AM

Great, now we've got that under our belts perhaps you can attempt to spell properly the city in which you inhabit.

Fix'd

moxco 09-13-2010 01:33 AM

Good point, but I thought that would be a good start.

Crashpunk 09-13-2010 03:11 AM

when people say Odysee or Exodus that annoys me.
Its Mudokons, Oddysee and Exoddus.

moxco 09-13-2010 03:23 AM

Well thats ironic.

You are complaining that people are spelling a misspelt word incorrectly?

Crashpunk 09-13-2010 03:31 AM

Correct :p

Poor grammar and sentence structure annoys me. Sucks to be you, then.

You're well on the path to an infraction for spam. I've been lenient so far due to your limited tenure here, but will be tightening the noose in the near future. Consider yourself warned.

You forgot "Molluck". "Squeek" is another one.

It can be worse, Odyssey for example.
Some "fan" wrote something at the new Gamasutra interview with Stewart, saying:
Odyssey (2x), Exodus and stating that Stranger was part 3 of the quintology. Blasphemy I say!

moxco 09-13-2010 12:38 PM

Odyssey is the correct spelling.

Why did OWI change the spelling?

Wil 09-13-2010 12:47 PM

So that it contained the word 'Odd'.

Why did OWI change the spelling?

ODDworld
ODDysee

I imagine that's why ;)

EDIT : Dang, beat to it...

moxco 09-13-2010 02:05 PM

Even then, why not Oddyssey?

Wil 09-13-2010 02:28 PM

Because a) that looks ghastly, b) why the hell not, and c) to somebody unfamiliar with the word, it might look like it's pronounced more like Oddy-say.

Crashpunk 09-14-2010 12:49 AM

You've got to admit that it is a genius thing OWI came up with.

Splat 09-15-2010 05:29 AM

Actually I'm fairly sure that the Artbook says they were going to call AO 'SoulStorm' after you-know-what and it was their publishers who came up with 'Abe's Oddysee'.

Then there are the times we get newblets spelling 'Rupture Farms' as 'Rapture Farms'. Like Oddworld would be if it was created by Mills & Boon.

<obvious joke>Or by Andrew Ryan.</obvious joke>

Would he kindly do that?

And then there are the times we get RPGlets spelling 'RuptureFarms' as 'Rupture Farms'.

abe is now! 09-15-2010 10:42 AM

Have you ever played any Abe games? .-.

erwinraaben55 09-15-2010 12:48 PM

Oh, talking about these nice spelling mistakes,
you should see PSN using its nice automatic translation program

Abe's Exoddus for example:
Original English text:

:

ODD things are happening at SoulStorm Brewery.
It seems like the greedy Glukkons are using Modoken (not MY spelling mistake. yes, they even have this wrong.) tears as a key ingredient in their best-selling beverage, Soulstorm Brew. And the'll stop at nothing to get them, for torturing the Mudokons in their preferred lifestyle! Once gain (again NOT my spelling mistake) it is up to Abe to save his race, wth (again not my mistake) just his loin-cloth, chants and wits. Sound ODD?

Welcome back to Oddworld.
This text comes directly from the game description you see once you installed the game on the harddrive of the PS3 (and I guess also in the PSN store). Anyway, in my PSN store I only see the Dutch translation. Now I will translate this same text again back to English as what they wrote in Dutch by the translator program. First time I read it, it took me some time to understand what they were trying to say in Dutch. Until I noticed the English version, I understood what they did.

:

The UNEVEN things happen at the Brewery SoulStorm. It appears that greedy Glukkons use cracks Modoken for it is a very important ingredient for their best selling drink, SoulStorm brewing. And the'll (this wasn't even translated!) is the end at nothing to them, for the torture of Modokons to get their designated lifestyle! As soon as asset it is to Abe is his race to save, wth (course this was also not translated) just his loin-cloth (also not translated), ....... (some Dutch word I never heard of, best translated back as canticles) and wits. Correct UNEVEN? Reception back to Oddworld.
The Abe's Oddysee translation text is also funny, but takes me too much time to type and translate :P

But all I can say is they translated RuptureFarms as:
Agricultural companies of the Fracture

MeechMunchie 09-16-2010 07:22 AM

:

Agricultural Companies of the Fracture
This is a much better name than RuptureFarms.

Splat 09-16-2010 09:34 AM

Actually yes; I can see myself using that in a story some day.
