The way I see it, giving them a place to engage in their behaviors on a legal and murder-less level gives them an alternative to becoming serial killers in order to appease their... taste. If the legal option is opened up, someone might rather take that than not get what they want until they snap and kill someone.

I mean, sure, a person has to be quite messed up to want to eat a person but just because they want to eat a person doesn't mean they want to KILL a person. Maybe this won't really solve any problems, but if it can keep at least one cannibal from killing an innocent person to get their satisfaction, then it was worth it.

This is a consenting adult deciding to do away with something of his own in order for another consenting adult to... well... eat it.

Sure, it's gross. I could never even bring myself to ever eat dog or cat. The idea of eating a human makes me want to vomit all on it's own. But people want to do it, and if there is a way to do that which avoids any type of victim then it's worth it.

Like I said, if it can stop just one murder then it's going to be worth it.

It's about "this isn't hurting anyone" and "this could save lives".

You can't put people in jail because they want to eat people. So far the only option they have it to deny themselves that. Sure, I think they should deny themselves that because, well, ew. But the fact is a good deal of people that do deny themselves will wind up snapping and killing people.

You can't put them in jail before they kill someone and by the time you can put them in jail somebody has already died. If giving them a legal alternative will keep them from becoming killers, this is a good thing. As sick as it is.

They aren't serial killers waiting to strike, no. I'm sure there are many people who want to eat people but go their whole life without every doing it. I'm sure they'd benefit from this too, but that's pretty irrelevant to me because I'm not trying to defend cannibalism. What I am defending is the idea of a place for them to go to do their thing where they don't harm anyone. So the logical targets of my defense would be the people who ARE serial killers waiting to happen unless they have an alternative.
