Favorite 'Scary' Movie(s)?

I guess it could be scifi horror as well.
I'd have to say my favorites would be
The Hills Have Eyes
The Thing (it's a lame name i know, but it's a kick ass movie just the same!)
the Exorcist
John Carpenters Vampires
i think it's called 'Dracula 2000' i won't give away the ending, but this is worth watching, for the funny moments that were apparently supposed to be scary, to the very cool ending.
And of course the dentist series, just because they make me giggle.
 :D

General Grakkus 01-02-2002 03:38 PM

The Night of the Living Dead was an awesome movie.SO was the Halloween series.

Wolfpac 01-02-2002 05:02 PM

Capri Ream 01-02-2002 09:19 PM

THe Amityville Horror. Scary as hades! Ooh and The Haunting!

Disgruntled Intern 01-02-2002 11:42 PM

i thought amittyvill ewas a bit weak.
good at times, but once they found the gate to hell, it sucked.
dawn of the dead was more funny, but great
same with the evil deads.

Wahay! This topic I LIKE! I'm a huge horror movie junkie, and I gotta say the one that creeped me out the most was by far.. well, it wasn't even a movie. It was a website I found by random when I typed in some random stuff while surfing the web (as usual) and it brought me up to this INCREDIBLY disturbing website, ran by a few guys who apparently find pictures of little girls waiting to have their heads sewn into baskets while they hang on meat hooks erotic. Or maybe they just wanna frighten random web viewers like me. But whatever it was, it was by FAR the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.
Movie wise? Well, I've seen so many that now I've just kinda gotten used to it all.. OH! I KNOW! DEFINATLY THE WICKER MAN! GOD THAT MOVIE WAS CREEPY! (If you haven't seen it, go out and try to find it!)

abe22 01-03-2002 03:56 AM

Movies don't really scare me alot so I don't really know any besides I hardly watch horror movies I like comedy movies better. One that was a bit annoying was Robo Cop (It's soooo old) where the guy got soaked by acid.

Disgruntled Intern 01-03-2002 01:18 PM

Abe22, it makes me wonder..if you don't like horror movies, why bother posting>?
this might sound a bit mean and i'm sorry, i just don't see the point.
now maybe if the topic was "who likes comedies and robocop?"
i could understand, lol
 :D
no offense by the way
MOTM- have you seen the thing? It's great!
also, i have a whole list of 'scary'
and disturbing links... if you ever want some, drop me a line at

Danny 01-03-2002 05:24 PM

I doubt that anyone here will have seen it, but The Last Broadcast is a mint film. If you get the chance, watch it. It's not scary in a blood and guts way, but in a psychological way. That fact that up until the last ten minutes you're not sure whether it's a documentary or whether it's made up only adds the the creepiness...

The Magog On The March 01-03-2002 08:25 PM

Lol, I saw that one on HBO while flipping through the channels and was completely engrossed in it... but I think I might be getting confused with another one. Is that the one that's sort of like the Blair Witch Project, but more documentary style, and at the end it just goes kinda haywire and gets really weird?
Edit: Of course I've seen The Thing! It's a classic! Have you seen the screen shots of the game on it (I think it's for xbox e_e)? It looks freak-eh, despite the fact that whenever I mention it everyone seems to think it's a retarded movie for having a name like The Thing. What would they prefer, The Big Giant, Blob of Mass Thingy? Oh well.

hehehe yeah really!
John Carpenter is definatley the MAN!
especially considering the thing was a late 70's film, those are some damn fine special effects!
your not saying theres a thing video game are you?
i know theres an evild ead game but...
Rettick, from the way you and MOTM talked about THE LAST BROADCAST ima try my hardest to hunt it down and rent it.
you know, the pet semetary movies were damn fine too.

Danny 01-04-2002 03:20 PM

Yes, that sounds like it. It's the film that the Blair Witch Project was ripped off of, except that it is a far superior movie...

The Magog On The March 01-05-2002 04:44 PM

Pet Cemetary got weird at the end also (That guy's logic completely baffles me.."Let's see, my kid that I just brought back from the dead tries to kill me and I finally kill it. Hmm.. I'll go raise my wife!") Plus that stupid song on the credits is STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD after god knows how many years since I've seen that. (I don't wanna be buried.. AH! OUT! OOOOOUUUUT!)
Yeah, there's a The Thing video game in the making (still dunno which system.. but I think it was xbox) and the Evil Dead game was horrible.
Good luck finding Last Broadcast, I was lucky enough just to see it on HBO!

Disgruntled Intern 01-05-2002 07:00 PM

heh, i have a knack for finding....uh..hard to find stuff..
anyway the evil dead game did suck, and i hate to say it, but i imagine the thing will as well.

Sal the Mudokon 01-05-2002 07:25 PM

I cant beleive no one sed Hellraiser! is pinhead not the creepiest ****er this side of Hades?! and, yes hellraiser is another kick-ass horror movie. im more into the psychological thrill of a movie than the gore. id play silent hill over resident evil any day! and what about the Shining? that beats all other Stephan King movies in the ass ten times over! and did anyone by chance see the Silence of the Lambs? (NOT THE SHITTY SEQUEL) it was a bit mystery, but it was still a kick ass horror movie! as for scifi horror, i really like alien and alien 3. i could probably think of some better ones, but ive written enough.

The Magog On The March 01-05-2002 07:30 PM

Actually from what I've heard the Thing game is supposed to be pretty good.. But anywho, I do agree The Shining is the best Stephan King movie.. oh, the only other one I liked was this weird one I saw on Sci Fi channel that I only really liked because the guy who played Al from Quantom Leap was one of the characters :D
Anyone ever seen the Cube? I liked that movie :p

Silversnow 01-05-2002 09:39 PM

I don't really know if Alien is a horror/plain scary movie, but I liked those movies. Do I have to bother and say that Alien 2 is the best? Anyway, I guess that it isn't a "scary" movie, so I'll just go watch cartoons instead...

Danny 01-05-2002 11:07 PM

I need to see "Cube". My friends have all seen it, and say it's brilliant. I think my friend Mike has it on video, actually...

Alcar 01-06-2002 05:20 AM

I've said it before and i'll say it again: Snow White.

This movie freaks me out, all the little dwarves, and those bright and colourful colours!

Arghhhhhhh!

Disgruntled Intern 01-06-2002 02:22 PM

you know alcar, alice in wonderland gives me the creeps....
now i'm straying off topic here (i know, big surprise..) anyway....
the shining movie was crap compared to the book...i personally like the tommyknockers, and IT.
you're right, Alien2 was the best..the bull aliens kicked ass!
the hellraiser movies did creep me out a bit..i didn't think pinhead was SCARY it was just the whole idea behind the movies....
and for all you Stephen king fans out there, go pick up the gunslinger series..he only has four out right now, but i hear he's finishing the series...

Abe's son 01-06-2002 05:59 PM

cube sucked i hated it! but hay its been a while since i saw it.have you seen halflife the movie scared the living crap outa my body!

The Magog On The March 01-07-2002 12:28 AM

The movie with Al was called the Langoliers, by the way..

Disgruntled Intern 01-07-2002 12:57 AM

man did i ever hate the langoliers.
movie was such crap.

The Magog On The March 01-07-2002 08:51 PM

Yeah, I know, but it had AL in it! Al! Even though his acting was kinda cheesy as well.. oh well. Did I mention I'm also a fan of B-horror movies? (The best being any of Ed Wood's films) :D

Abe's son 01-07-2002 09:14 PM

has eney one seen the halflife movie very cool and very scary!

Majic 01-08-2002 12:14 AM

well, i got to agree with that other guy...... aliens (the second one) has got to be the coolest, not really the scariest... if anyones seen virus thats not really scary but more of wierd..... i dont know, but o god pet cemetary 1 & 2....... those are wierd... yes that guys logic is stupid... he thinks its a good idea to turn his dead wife into an evil zombie... yea, the childs paly ones are okay.... #3 was pretty stupid though.... Jason ones are okay.... never seen nightmare on elm street.... but those ghost shows on tv are cool... real cool... even though there not movies.... if you wanna see some stupid scary stuff thats not scary watch like are you afraid of the dark, wait thats out of production..... a better idea, watch gremlins and surround your room with furbys. i gotta try that....

The Magog On The March 01-08-2002 12:57 AM

Heh, I liked Gremlins. Nothing beats seeing an old lady being rocketed out of the window Plus, it had the immortal Judge Reinhold in it (a normally pretty crappy actor..he's in a ton of movies, but he was in Clerks: The Animated Series and was hilarious.. heh) :D

Disgruntled Intern 01-08-2002 02:12 AM

yes, the clerks animated series DID rock.
you know, i'm lame, so i collect gremlines crap...i have two of the original plush gremlins that look lame as hell (gizmo and stripe)
and ALL the lil' pvc figures..plus the professionally made plushes..(gizmo and mohawk..they look GREAT.)
and an actuall gremlin full puppet used in gremlins two.
i paid 250 for it, but at 3.5 feet tall, and being authentic, it was worth it..gotta love Ebay!
lol

The Magog On The March 01-09-2002 12:03 AM

Heh, I still have the Gremlins 3 game on the NES :D

Disgruntled Intern 01-09-2002 12:43 AM

TMOTM..there is no gremlins three game...
nor gremlins 3 movie
just gremlins 2...

The Magog On The March 01-09-2002 09:09 PM

Trust me, there was a Gremlins 3 game on NES.. I have it for cryin' out loud! You were Gizmo (obviously) and basically all you did was run around in a mall throwing tomato's at gremlins and going through nearly impossible air vent levels.

Disgruntled Intern 01-09-2002 11:45 PM

MOTM i have it too..it's gremlins 2.
The cover has an evil gremlin on the front, stnading in a red steamy backround.
i know my gremlins, there is NO gremlins three.
another thing, you just gave the exact description of gremlins2....
tell me, is the boss of the game the spider gremlin?
and is there a level with copy machines spitting paper everywhere?

The Magog On The March 01-12-2002 01:34 AM

Apon closer investigation.. it IS Grelmins 2! It seems that the mark I mistook as a 3 was actually some stain brought on by god knows what. Gremlins 2 was weird though.. that talking gremlin guy scared me deeply.

munchman 01-12-2002 09:54 PM

Halo i meen Halloween rocks

The Magog On The March 01-12-2002 10:01 PM

Eh, Halloween was okay, but H20 was pathetic. Maybe there was a reason that a new Halloween movie hadn't been made in so long... at least the series is dead now.

munchman 01-12-2002 10:42 PM

A new one is coming out, it is called HALLOWEEN HOMECOMING.

Disgruntled Intern 01-13-2002 12:13 AM

ugh. how the hell can mike myers even come back?
his head was CHOPPED OFF....
i am now refusing to see the new halloween movie if and when it ever comes out. hmpf.
you know, i watched Jeepers Creepers the other night..i can see why it got shitty reviews, but the beginning before you see what the monster/killer looks like does get a 7/10 for creepiness...
