Sikhism: your view?
 

Well, due to the amount of my posts from my last topic...here goes, Sikhism!

Of course you don't care for it. You're Christian. You also probably don't care for Buddhism or Islam either.

I don't care for any of the above. I don't care for Christianity. I wouldn't go mental over Sikihism, either.

I think that we have enough religious threads. That's what I think.

This sums up the totality of my views towards Sikhism and Hinduism.

What i will say is an old scholar once told me. He was at a sikh temple once and was told

Is it a religion and does it involve a book people are deemed to blindly follow? If yes, I hate it.

Actually, a quick glance at Sikhism has done much to interest me, this requires further research.

It's ... interesting.

At heart it's a self sacrificing religion built around metaphysical concepts, but the core beliefs and the religious prohibitions seem pretty liberal to me. Also:
I don't think I'll indoctrinate myself, but it's looking to be on my list of religions that are fundamentally alright.

i really wanted to study Sikhism at secondary school, only religion that interested me. but no, we had to fucking learn Islam like every other fucker. honestly, i think we spent more time learning about that than bloody Christianity. nothing against Islam obviously, but it tends to get shoved in your face and piss you off at that age, and especially during that time. fucking obnoxious, and now you see, i have no time for it. i just cant be arsed. i feel indifferent towards it.

It's just another existential religion. Sure, they aren't as nasty as some others, but they are still pretty unremarkable.

The turbans are awesome. I wish my religion dictated them as official head covering.

Also, am I the only person who noticed that AiN used the word 'Verily'? I may well start worshipping him from now onwards.

I'm sorry i didn't bluddy post in my post, I went to bed...to sleep...because I'm tired...and I have work.

On another note, I do care about my threads (going back a few comments) I am posting now, wth, I think Sikhism isn't much different from Christianity, Muslims believe in Jesus and God as do I, I don't know much about there home laws but I hear there not nice.

I don't think these people are Muslims.

Some of the fundamentals of Islam can seriously get to fuck, the liberal modern interpretations and are acceptable though, and the people are generally very nice.

Also Muslims do not believe in Jesus as you do, not in the slightest.

I was under the impression that Jesus was a prophet in Islam aswell.

Has not arrived yet. To them Jesus was nothing more than a heretic.

And knowing is half the battle.

I read about Sikhism on a semi-regular basis, usually when I am struck by astonishment that I know little about it. Like other Eastern religions I find it pretty complex and impenetrable and struggle to make sense of both details and major aspects equally, but then I remember that I find the minutia of Christianity equally difficult to follow.
