Post Your Oddworld AO/AE Completion Stats
Hi everybody! I'm new to this forum, but I've been playing oddworld ever since I was born. I recently bought AO and AE off PSN and have been enjoying em ever since.
I'm wondering what times you guys got for completing the game, if you keep track that is. Every time I beat the game I save it on my internal PS1 memory slot HD. I save it right next to the stat monitor so I can track if I'm doing better or worse. Here's my times and mudokons saved: AO Abe: The Boardroom (can't name these in this game, but the times were getting faster and faster so I'm assuming this is the right order) Speed A: 2:59:24 Escapes: 63 Casualties: 2 Speed B: 2:49:04 Escapes: 60 Casualties: 0 Speed C: 2:22:05 Escapes: 69 Casualties: 2 Speed D: 2:12:52 Escapes: 68 Casualties: 0 AE I call em Speed cause I tried doing them as fast as I can, and the letters A, B, C, are like 1st try, 2nd try and so on. Speed A: 3:01 Escapes: 144 Casualties: 15 ^^ I skipped like the last couple levels which is why the time is so short. Speed B: 4:23 Escapes: 278 Casualties: 6 Speed C: 4:11 Escapes: 291 Casualties: 1 Post Yours! |
I never kept track :(

when the PS1 first came out, one of my uncles, who was obsessed with computer games at the time, bought one and got AO. he completed it in a day, obviously not having played it before, and i was surprised. then when i finally got a PS1 (a long while after AO & AE was released) i bought AO & AE. completed AE months later and lent it to him. he did it in 2 days, that time.
i suppose he just had a very good affinity with PS1 games. |
I haven't got my compleat stats with the Speeds and times but i remember my first saved stat on Abe's Exoddus was somthing like 120 somthing. and i saved about 50 on AO first time
My last run...About early 2009 AO Saved 76 Killed 28 AE Saved 289 Killed 12 I have also killed them all on both games. |
I dont keep stats, but I saved 100% of Mudokons on both Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus.
|
I remember only this:
AE Saved 300 Killed 0 |
AE
Saved: 299 Killed: 1 Dunno the time. |
:
|
:
Escapees 99 Casualties 0 Time: Not know Maybe i will try fastest i can soon :pipe: |
I saved 2?? on AE, and killed 0.
I always restart if one dies, but there were a couple secret areas I missed. |
Can't say I really remember my statistics, but I guess my averages are:
AO - Usually around 60-70 saved, 1, if not 0, killed. AE - Usually around 170-230 saved, usually none killed. |
AO- ~80 saved
AE- 300 saved Didn't record time unfortunately. AO can get realy frustrating without Quicksave, but still an epic game |
It is frustrating. But I like it better than AE. And it's a lot harder without Quiksave, which basically renders the game super-easy.
|
Yeah AO is pretty hard, except for the ending. For some reason I found the ending in AE a lot more challanging.
|
AO:
1st play dunno 2nd play saved all :D 3rd play: killed all possible to kill, where that was not possible I didn't save them, only saved that absolute needed ones. AE: Same thing MO: Same thing Stranger: Just finished the game once, I tried to capture all alive but I don't remeber if I really managed that or not, think I did. Sorry to expand this to MO and Stranger too ;) |
That reminds me..
In AO if you kill them all do you get a killing spree award like in AE? |
Been playin AE the last few days to for reference pics, just finished
time 5:39 escapees 286 casualties 0 |
If you kill them all in AO you get infinite grenades, AFAIK.
|
:
Rescue 1-49 Mudokons --> Bad ending (it's funny, watch it!) Rescue 50-98 Mudokons --> Good ending Rescue 99 Mudokons --> Good ending + Bonus movie gallery |
I think it's just the normal Bad Ending cutscene.
|
did AO this weekend
time 3:48 escapees 99 |
I can't remember the exact speed or completion rates of my current plays, but I distinctly remember getting 49 the first time I played AO (when I was about 9), and I think I rescued all 300 Mudokons in AE for the first time BEFORE I rescued all 99 Mudokons in AO.
|
The first ending I got in Abe's Oddysee was the bad one. I seriously thought that was the official ending of the game. That was until I got the notice about having failed. Thankfully virtually every game after that I've got the good ending.
|
I've only finished an Oddworld game once
>> << But SRSLY - so you thought Abe actually died xD ? |
If we're talking speed runs, I don't do those.
But if we're talking play the game at your own pace and tell me how long it took to finish... I fully completed Abe's Exoddus in 7hrs and 9 minutes with all 300 Mudokons saved. I'm currently playing Oddysee again. I'll probably post that one at some point too (when I finish). |
Dude, this was the 90s. We didn't have multiple endings in the 90s (not much anyway). Besides, we had no idea they'd make a sequel.
|
I was trying to be rude...
anyway, it's the only game I've ever played with multiple endings, because it's basically the only game I've ever played :O |
HaHaHa.
|
Oh damn. Did I say I was trying to be rude? Shit dude I am seriously sorry, I meant to say I wasn't trying to be rude xD
*facepalm* |
Ok. My final completion time for AO is 4hrs 18min 2sec.
I'm working on a Let's Play of AO, so I just added up all of the video times and looked at how long the whole LP took. |
Just did Exoddus again, here are my new times:
AE Speed D: 3:39 Escapes: 292 Casualties: 0 AE Speed E: 3:24 Escapes: 292 Casualties: 0 |
No idea on times...
AO: 98 saved, 1 out there somewhere (AAGHH!!) AE: 300 saved, 0 killed. (yay) |
AO
3:30:30 80 escapes 4 casualties |
This time I got all the mudokons!
AO: Speed E: 2:21:50 Escapes: 98 Casualties: 0 AE: Speed F: 3:20 Escapes: 294 Casualties: 0 |
AO

|

I did AO the first time and got 49, which made me really mad. I knew there had to be another ending because of something I heard somewhere, so even before I finished it, I knew I was going to get the bad ending with 49. Every time since then I've got more than 50. Never gotten more than 60, but then again, I haven't played it in a while.
The first time I did AE, I got 169, so I actually got the good ending. The second time I got 188, the third time I got 261. I haven't played it in a while, not the real way. I've never timed myself. |
the first time i played AO, i got 3. which really annoyed me. i then tried again approximately 45 minutes after finishing the previous game, and 3 and a half days later i got 42 1/2. i then proceeded to leave the game itself dormant for a while. this while was approximately 8 days, or 192 hours plus an extra 3 hours 27 minutes 32-40 seconds. i had just eaten cheese on toast the day i returned to it. the cheese was Pilgrims Choice, and the bread itself was Morrisons Brand Medium Sliced White Bread. the cheese was partially melted, but not to a degree i preferred seeing as the grill wasn't quite up to standards. i took a swig of my tea, which had milk and sugar in it, well stirred, and played the game again. i endured the game for 44 hours where i actually lost count of the minutes, thus less information just then. apologies for that. i managed to save 72 mudokons, but encountered a glitch on the 4th screen of the 2nd Zulag of the game in which you return to Rupture Farms. this enraged me so i pressed the small reset button on the Playstation which i estimate was about 1/4 of an inch in both length and width, an inch in perimeter and i haven't a clue what size in depth. after pressing this delightful button i awaited the game to reload. i continued from where i had last saved and rescued a further 3 mudokons, but then someone rang the doorbell so i attended to that, leaving the game on the feature which stops any interaction within it which i believe is widely known to be called 'pause'. a woman was at the door, asking whether i wanted to go with a cheaper gas company. i said i was quite happy with the one i was with and she replied to me, stating they would guarantee to beat any other gas company charges for the first 6 months. i did enquire as to what would happen after these first 6 months and she pulled an odd face. i took this as a chance to return to the Playstation 1 game Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee which was in a state of frozen play, the 'pause' feature. i eagerly took my leave and returned to the console in which my game was in. i then continued to play it up until i got to the 14th screen and somehow died. i gave up momentarily and wondered whether i should have cheese on toast like i had had a few days before, but then thought i would make a cup of coffee and go for some variety in my lifestyle. the coffee itself was brown, as most coffee is, and was in the form where all you need to do is add hot water to it. remarkable, it is, and otherwise known as 'instant'. i went to the fridge, the game i was playing 17 minutes earlier still fresh in mind, and noticed i had no milk. i did depart for the corner shop.
more unnecessarily excruciating details about something universally trivial once i find the incredibly detailed diaries i made of my every single move. |
I've played the games over many, many, many times, so I can't really give any one time or set of stats for either game....First time I completed AO, I got the bad ending (I think I saved about 45 or so)...Hell, I was 10, I didn't realise that I actually had to save the little buggers :( I did save them all eventually, though.
When I first played AE, I was a little older (er, more than a little, I guess), so I got the good ending first time I played, and second time I got all 300. I've also gotten the killing bonus on both (although it didn't work for me in AE, but it was still gratifying seeing the screen :/ ). As for times, I've yet to do a speedrun of AE, so I'll have to disappoint you there, but I've speedran through Abe's Oddysee multiple times. I didn't do the whole game at once, I timed separate segments and then added them together. I've got the times for each segment somewhere far away on my computer, or possibly on some old archive CD, I don't remember them off the top of my head. I only remember that my Free-Fire Zone time was 1:40-something, Monsaic Lines was 3:00-something, both the temples were 10-15 minutes ish... And of course I paid no attention whatsoever to any Mudokon slaves, so I got the bad ending... I don't remember the total time exactly, but it was either just barely under an hour or just barely over an hour. |
