Secrets/Easter Eggs in Munch's Oddysee/Stranger's Wrath?
Sorry if this has been asked before... but are there any easter eggs in either game? I know a few things, like the Elums on the table in MO and the mention of Slogs in SW... any others?
No. I've looked before in SW for references from previous games. Sadly I found none.
Well theres the face found in the background of one of the screens on AE. There is in fact another thread about that.
i seem to remember seeing mudokon-styled cave-art on the walls inside a cave you row through in SW.
That was grub styled cave-art. They're the same thing really. Grubbs are evolved from fish. Mudokons are evolved from birds.
Fair enough. I guess it was worth asking.
Two genuine Easter eggs in SW that spring to mind are scanned images of one of the Inhabitant’s ... daughter, I think; and the name "Josh" on a pair of underpants. The examples in the original post aren't really Easter eggs. They've not hidden, and they're not messages or signatures from the developer, they're just continuity/world references.

WHOO! |
Underpants? Is that in the Interns dormitories?

Oops, thought you were talking about MO then, sorry. Where can you see them?
Wait. I think I found these pink bunny slippers or sumthing.
There are statues of company logos in the background of some Scrabania scenes in Abe's Oddysee.
Painfully obvious though somewhat distorted cave-painting of the OWI logo in the Paramonian temple. Can't be arsed to remember where exactly it is. It's near a lift, I recall.
EDIT: Didn't realize this was for MO/SW only. Disregard above statement. The only thing I can recall as far as "easter eggs" go is the "give a slog a bone" picture used in one of the areas of SW where there were Slegs. |
The Josh underpants are in the Outlaw camp between Gizzard Gulch and Farmer Beek's Opple Farm. The drawings are on the desk of the jail in Gizzard Gulch.
The Outlaws in the stockyards mention Paramite Pies and Scrab Cakes if you stick around long enough to hear them talking.
Or if you can't be bothered, I've uploaded said audio clips onto Megaupload for you. Enjoy! |
Well done Fuzzle Guy. I hope we can expect some better easter eggs in the next game.

That's because it wasn't coming. Some cock (Wil, I suspect) edited a RickRoll into my post.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z51839FA There. Your Strangers Wrath outlaw sounds. |
ok Im not 100% sure about this one but i think in SW when they learn your a steef in the night i think the moon has abes paw on it. my friend says so but i just cant remember.
Wait. You expect us to belive that some one edited your post and rick-rolled-afied-it?

Can I ask, where exactly in the Stranger's Wrath game is that voice clip from? (I couldnt see the video due to copyright issues).
Follow the link again. The video was a rickroll edited into my post by a mod. It's fixed now.
I'm so blocking Wil on Windows Live from now on. |

If the moon does have a paw on it, why didn't we see the moon with a foot on it (Munch's moon)? Maybe they forgot. Or you can't see the foot moon from Southern Mudos.
I think most of us would gladly write the foot moon out of canon anyway.
Why?
You're not seriously asking me why the foot moon was crap, are you?
I know it has received a fair few complaints. I know it comes across as tacked on and unnecessary. I know it lacks the spiritual vibe and plot-relevence of Abe's Moon. I know it is underplayed and bemusing. But this is Munch's Oddysee we're talking about. What in that game isn't quite accurately described by all the above?
The opening FMV until the Raisin makes his début appearance? That's real dark, gritty, depressing, classic Oddworld.
I wonder why the foot moon just appeard. Lorne said that he didn't want the paw moon to just appear, so why did he do it with the foot one?

It's about as far as most people make it into the game before switching off.
I thought Abe's moon was an indication that the Mudokons were the chosen race. Is this really nothing more than a claim the Mudokons made years ago?
Also, wasn't each Quintology hero supposed to have his own moon? This puts a bit of a pisser on the whole "Only one moon with a giant hand-print" thing. Who is to say a Glukkon can't look up at any of the dozens of moons surrounding Oddworld, tilt their head, and squint to see their hand-print on a moon too? Some people say there's a man in our moon, others say there's a rabbit. I see an Ostrich defecating on a dutch oven, and if I tilt my head, Andy Milonakis's spread ass cheeks. This Oddworld moon thing is a bunch of fluff, I say. FLUFF! Also shit. |
To make the foot moon seem a LOT less shit, I shall say that it was formed by meteors and Vykkers Labs blocked it's view. Muds never saw it because when the saw Vykkers Labs they ran in the other direction. Gabbits never saw it because they can't see it from the sea. Vykkers hid it so that Gabbits would not get 'ideas' like the ancient Mudokons. Sligs, Khanzumers and Glukkons don't really care.
I hope that on one moon there is a Slig-tentacle-palm imprint.
Go Go Sligs! BTW I'm going to play MO and SW this week, so I'll try and explore every area, to find any secrets... (Although it's probably futile to be honest). |
I remember in MO just after the big well cut-scene when Abe first meets Munch in the forests behind you there's some hint flies from AO.
