Discuss your opinion on immigration...
THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A FLAME WAR
So, what are your opinions on the subject of immigration?, do you think that an "open door policy" is the way forward? or are you more in favour of a policy which makes it harder to enter a foregin country to live? what are your views on the state of immigration in the country where you live? LET THE CONTROVERSY BEGIN! |
I think it's okay if the Government makes precautions (which really, they aren't doing over here - any old bugger can get in).
I'm not happy with the current state of the country, but I can't do anything about that. I'll be happy as soon as the original residents of the UK are put first, and the immigrants second. |
You are now in my list of favorite people...
|
I wasn't already?
|
I believe the concept of countries is far outdated, the EU was a good first step towards internationalization.
|
But don't you realize that a single world government is a sure-fire sign of Satan a'coming?
|
What good would come of internationalisation?
|
You're the child of the earth, you should tell me.
|
Smack down, bitches!
|
A heathen Conceivably but not, i hope an uninlightened one.
I was trying to say i am against the idea of internationalisation... |

I don't like the idea of a single government ruling the whole world, for one thing, the world is far to big for one government to have any real affect on anything but huge, Global events. And also, i dont see what good it would do ... what would happen because of one big government ruling?
|
I can't see how neo-paganism and nationalism can ever be reconcilable, but since this most definitly isn't a flame war I believe that most feuds are property related, which is probably one of if not the biggest evil in the history of humanity.
With a one world country there would ideally be no wars, there would (God willing) be no racial and national tension, people would not feel like they belong to a specific country which would not create group group mentalities and the government would be able to focus more clearly on international issues rather than get bogged down by keeping their own countries best interests at the forefront of their agendas. |

It's not as if there wouldn't also be local government. It just seems sort of silly to not want everyone to be united under a single ideal governing body. Unless you are some sort of nationalist like Havoc.
|
Risk is what progression is all about sir!

So why not just keep it the way it is? With each country governing itself? The idea of internationalisation is a little unrealistic from where i'm sitting... Also, OANST, we haven't heard your opinion about immigration yet have we? |
I'm for anyone living anywhere that they think will be suitable to them raising their family, or just plain getting the most that they can out of life.
Because each individual country is whole heartedly pursuing their nation's agenda, regardless of how it affects everyone else. With a larger mother government, keeping local governments to certain guide lines all people will be treated equally. Edit: One more addition to show the way I see this. I am not proud to be an American. I might be proud to better my country by taking part in our legal system, or doing any number of things for my country and the people therein, but I am certainly not proud to be an American. I didn't even have a fucking say in the matter. Anyone who is proud to be something that they had absolutely no input in just as ignorant and fuckball stupid as your local racist. |
I have mixed feelings about immigration.
Regarding internationalism, sure, why not? |
I think anyone should have the right to move into a different country to live there. But I don't like what's happening in England. And I really don't like it when foreign people come over here and you can hear them shouting in their own language. I may be being a little stupid here, but I think they should at least give us some respect by speaking the country's language. I mean, sure, they may not know our language, but why come here in the first place then?

Living in Pennsylvania, we don't really have an immigration problem. On the flip-side, living in rural Pennsylvania, there's still the same, old, jingoistic, racist bullshit to put up with. I have to say, I think my school (whether they have a say in the matter or not) has done a great job with the foreign exchange student program. Normally we get Europeans, but this year, I was lucky enough to share my government/economics class with two Koreans and an Iraqi. Certainly a nice dose of new perspective.
As for immigration, I think all the Merkans could use a nice, tall glass of empathy, tolerance, and acceptance. Not saying all the crap that comes with mass-immigration should be overlooked, but just that it shouldn't used to generalize immigrants. I sincerely doubt a lot of Americans would be able to get by in another country if they were under half the circumstances the Mexicans are. Also, the whole "everyone is an immigrant" argument is stupid. That's like saying all blacks are still slaves and all Germans are still Nazis. Ironically, I think Canada has the highest immigration rate in the world right now. As for internationalization, I guess it's cool. The EU seems to be doing fine. |

Why am i laughing at this? |
Self deprecation?

Man, I am in a shitty mood today. |
Chinese, Romanians and Polish are everywhere here. As of 2008, they've been listed in this country as 'barriers to employment'.
I'm not kidding. |
Listed by whom? The Daily Mail?
|
...not my personal newspaper that no one reads.
