More Oddworld film concepts
|
I love them so much. :) Is that Stranger and Abe in picture two? :D:D:D
|
We finally found some time to bother to put them up... :p
|
YAY.
|
When you said "more" I automatically assumed "new," go dangitt!
|
pic 3 = Bambi when he pushes Uncle Scar down the cliff at the end of the movie.
|
So Stranger mets the Mudokons! I can't wait to watch that movie...
:
|
The mudokons live all over Mudos, that's how they got their name. Stranger probably met a different mudokon in the picture. This might just be a joke, like TOLshop, but it isn't April Fool's Day. And Abe is Now!, read the previous posts. Xavier didn't have time to put them up earlier. But why would 3 images take so much time to put up? This just adds to my suspicion that it is a joke.
|
nice pictures.
genuinely interested. |
These look great!
I hope we actually get to see the movie one day. |
:
While TOLshop has evidences on it that it was a joke (disclaimer and "add to cart" page) those pictures have not, simply because they were really given to us by OWI. Like you said it isn't April's fool day so there would be no point of trying to fool you guys. Like BM said those pictures are old (two years old at least), we decided not to post them all at once because we preferred to publish them a few at the time, so we could keep you guys busy while no news are coming from OWI. |

|
I guess that also means the Abe film is already finished but we won't see it for another 2 years thanks to these jokers! :fuzemb:
|
ABE&STRANGER WILL TEAM UP OMG!
|
my opinions;
1) some centipede-paramites getting torched in a government testing lab 2) some weird religious deer thing 3) abe & stranger vs a guy who can tame scrabs! Wowzers. |

|
Why would Steefs mount Scrabs?
Also what we see in that pic could be any Steef and any Mudokon. I doesn't have to be Abe and Strager |
It could be, but how many Steefs dress up like cowboys? I thought Stranger was one of a kind.

Oh bloody hell I feel euphoric. I know this doesn't particularly mean anything, but I love every shred of Oddworld news. Even 3 year old news :p
|
Ooo, I spies a gloktigi...even though I hates fighting them, still...
That one does look like something Stranger-shaped riding a scrab, wierd-ness Even old news is news after all :3 |
I think it's more likely to be an Outlaw riding a Scrab, why would another Steef be dressed like that, or be fighting them? Unless it's being controlled by an Ocktigi...

NEW NEWS PICTURES!
NEWS!
In MArch OWI released these two pictures to show there fans that they are not infact dead, just in hiding, maybe we finally got through? Anywho here they are the first one are paramites fleeing from a burning rupture farms told you that it blew up hah hah ha and the Stranger and Abe fighting off mounted strangers. |
We've had those pictures (and by "we" I mean Max) for a good deal longer than four months. I am also unconvinced that those are paramites, given their design, and not simply some species of vermin. There is also little evidence of hostility in the Abe and Stranger image.
|
I think those scrab steeds are not actually scrabs. A close relative, yeah, but not S. mudosiensis horribilis.
Oh dear, look at me. |
:
|
Those are some nice pictures.
|
I'll be honest, I don't see Scrabs at all. Similar design but they look clearly different to me.
Anyway, that is definately Stranger with (who I assume is) Abe. It couldn't be another Steef since the other Steef don't hide their legs and dress up like cowboys. That also makes whoever they are facing not another Steef. I'm thinking probably some random dude. Doesn't all this art need to somehow connect to the story of Abe's Oddysee though? I know the plot of the movie is supposed to be heavily reworked and have a lot added to it, but it all needs to come back to the same basic things... right? |
:
|
I'm quite interested to see how these all tie in with the Abe's Oddysee film....
|
I'm surprise no one made a comment about what I think are Paramite's relatives in the first picture, as they clearly don't have the same design (or number of legs)
|
I do not think it is Stranger at all in that picture with the mudokon, just looks like outlaws to me, the larger one certainly looks to me like an outlaw.

Holy Shrykull! Those are...awesome! It'd be pretty cool to see both Abe and Stranger in the same movie!...Maybe not in Abe's movie but later on.
Oh and Munch too. ^__^ Glad to see things are moving with the films...well kinda. :) |
aw I thought htere was something up about the length, the website I got them from simply had two descriptions similar to these so, I put them up, that's all just trying to keep some OWI alive around and about. I thikn pepole on this forum are to hostile.

The more I think about it the more it would make sense that the cowboy-like characters are in fact Mudokon slavers, possibly related to the outlaws seen in SW

I’m staggered that it took this long for anyone to comment on the possibility of these creatures to be redesigned Paramites and Scrabs. It was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw them, and is one of the reasons I wanted these images to be shown last. I wanted the images released in ascending order of discrepancy from the Oddworld we might be expecting.
Lorne has already said that many of the Oddworld characters were designed the way they were because of limited CG resources at the time and, now that technology has advanced, he would like to see the Oddworld creatures closer to how he originally imagined them. The example he gave was always having envisioned Sligs as having pig-like hair. Reducing the number of limbs on Paramites and removing their scales fits into this, and the redesigned creatures we are possibly seeing could just be a reversion to original ideas. I’m not sure I like them. I’m not going to call cliché without having anything to cite as evidence, but the new design make Paramites very obviously arthropodean*, whereas the Paramites we’re familiar with are clearly mammalian with arthropod habits and quirks. As much I disliked the sound changes in Munch’s Oddysee, they emphasized this. It made Paramites more alien because they clearly didn’t fit into any Earth phylogeny, not by any stretch of the imagination. They had a very unfamiliar and innovative new body shape. Then again, it needs to be pointed out these paintings are more than anything done to establish scenes, settings, moods, lighting, angles, composition, and be cool to appeal to greenlighters. The different design could just be something Raymond was toying with, or something that was considered at the time but has since been replaced with a more familiar Paramite. As for those being Scrabs… since when could Scrabs be tamed and ridden? I’m seriously hoping those aren’t Scrabs. It would completely ruin the point. You don’t use a creature for livestock if it’s a beast of burdon. Either you select it for strength and endurance, or you select it for what it produces. I have more to say, but I’ll wait till later. * Apparently this is the right word, although I prefer both ‘arthropoid’ and ‘arthropedic’. |
