Oddworld Wallpaper | Version Two
 

Recently I've been browsing old fan corner threads and came across an "Oddworld Wallpaper" thread by Fuzzle Guy and as there are hardly any about anymore, perhaps we should create some more, and fulfil requests.

I will start off, remember ANYONE can submit one, you don't have to be good at graphics.

I'm working on one (My resolution is 1600 x 1050 too!)

Now THAT Is an awesome background. Maybe I might try and make one... But I'm too busy usually working on other stuff... xD

The thing is backgrounds are meant to be high resolution to fit desktop screens, at minimum 1024 x 768.

Oh, sorry I just realised it is. It looks really small. Carnix how do you cut out images, do you have a super magic wand?

Mines 1680 x 1050, I don't know why my screen has an extra 80px but its annoying when looking for wallpapers, because you get a band on the two sides.

But I never use a magic wand tool, that's an amateur shortcut. :p

That's resolution is too small for my screen, i got mine set to 1280x1024! xD

Way too small for me. My resolution is 1680 x 1050, its 22".

1024 x 768 is the margin for people to design at, especially websites and such.

You have made the assumption that we are using the same program, that assumption is incorrect.

I know this didn't come out very good but I thought I'd upload it anyways.

I never make that assumption, no one uses Fireworks unless there deigning websites apart from me.

Every program has a rubber tool. Including MSPaint.

Saw this thread and I thought I'd throw mine in, in case they're useful to anyone.

I've attached one I made back when I had a triple monitor setup. Since each screen's wallpaper was made to be self-contained, I also attached the image chopped up for your convenience.

Once I moved to a wide screen laptop, I modified the leftmost screen for that purpose. (This was back when seam carving hit the news.) I've attached that as well.

As you can see, I didn't have any high resolution Oddworld art so I relied heavily on vectors.

Let me know if you want to use these anywhere besides your personal computer.

What program did you use to vectorize? Illustrator? GIMP?

Also, please note that PNG images on Windows XP (and perhaps vista and 7) don't allow a see through icons, and will have a solid colour box behind them.

Still, good images, I like 'em.

I used Inkscape and GIMP for everything.

Yeah, I may have just converted to jpg when using Windows.

I was seriously bored tonight and made one too. Well two, one grungy and one not...I prefer the grunge.

I like yours, Grieva, although I can't see the mistake xD I'm probably just blind.

those are great, the non grunge one is my new wallpaper, really nice work, I like the way the large munch partially covers the logo, thats a nice touch

anyone notice that the OW logo has an O, W and I in it? Didn't till like a month ago oh and Drydari yours is funky all th others are also pretty immensive!

Its a clever design though, logo design can be quite a complicated process to get to a simple symbol, theres loads of shit ones around that have no thought in them

Alternately, use Imageshack and IMG tags.

Grieva, the deliberate mistake remains a mystery to me, and is starting to bother me.

Well, it's either the VERY BIG BARREL or the fact that Stranger lives on a different continent to Munch and Abe.

haha, I guess it was too small a thing to be noticed, the intentional mistake is I added an extra toe to Abe, just to make the picture unique lol
