Hey, for an updated version the oddworld website see http://yits-rehab-and-coffee.webs.com < Me and Molluck's assistant own this site and we can't keep it running unless you visit (thx to crappy freewebs and my loose pockets)

OW the music scared the living crap out of me!

lets set the records straight.

Scrabtrapman asked if i would like me to join him in owning a small fan site forum for Oddworld, so i said yes. i've just had a look and, like WoF said, there is some false information. i just PM'd Scrabtrapman to tell him, as much as it was a good idea, i have decided to pull out, but no hard feelings.

now dont think i'm running off with my tail between my legs and dumping all the blame on Scrabtrapman, because i think its an average site, better than what i would be able to make anyway, i just dont think it is going to get very far, and is a little obsolete seeing as this forum's fanbase is so massive.

Scrabtrapman desinged the site to the last little Monsaic Lines picture, and i think he has quite a talent there, i on the other hand i did bugger all, so if this site does take off, i dont deserve to be running it with him.

also, i would have pulled out even if it was the best site on the net, because i didnt do anything to add to it. there was a slight misunderstanding with me and Scrabtrapman about making this site; i thought i would be helping him desing it, thats the reason i joined, but he did it all on his own (much credit to him).

also a1723, show some fucking respect, he worked hard to make that. if you dont like it, dont post, easy as that, or are you too fucking simple to understand? wanker.

He didn't work as hard as Webs.com did to design the templates an what have you.

I've never really been one for fansites, so this isn't my kind of thing, and I have extremely high doubts that it will pick up. However, I'm sure that you will have pleased somebody with this.

Seriously. Drop the music. I thought The Internet had given up on autoplaying music back in the '90's. Myspace doesn't count.

It needs some work to please the eye... and some correct information.
But it's always nice to see a fan build a fansite to share their interest.

thx Mollucks Assistant, it a shame and Ill close it down in a few weeks, however, I tried is all and I'm happy to hand over the keys or take any ideas if it is to keep running otherwise, sorry I just thought it wud be nice to have an uptodate site.

Myself, I can't take seriously a site that is made with Freewebs. At least you could choose a bit more comfortable layout for eyes.

On my first visit, I did a septuple post. Beat that.

There's an "S" in "ones", and there is also a "k" and "W" in "know". I'd like to point out your other errors, but I won't. Sorry to be pedantic, but this is basic English, you should know it. If you are foreign, and have not been speaking English very long, but if you are English, there is no excuse.

Try something like Jimdo.com. They have some very wonderful templates, tons of space, and if you want to upgrade it's only 5 bucks.

Alternatively, you could learn HTML and put full work and effort into it. Then, you'd really go appreciated, even if it ended up naff, purely because full effort has been put into it. Free website templates are the short way around, and end up looking either tacky or just plain naff, no matter how much effort you put into it.

So is making a post like this when the triple-poster understood that you aren't supposed to do that. To Scrabtrapman: For now, I can only say NO to a site like this. If you improved the information and spelling, then maybe it would have been better. But if you want to close it, OK.

Anyway next time you make a fan site don't introduce it in a thread with this kind of title. It's confusing, people could think a new official site has been uploaded.

Unfortunately 99.9% of fansites fail to be maintained regularly and fade into obscurity. However, I think what you've done is good so far. You just need to think about what you really want to do. I'd rather see a single well maintained HTML page than 100 ones that dont get updated.

Then check what you type.

Get a spell-checker addon for Firefox, the reason why my spelling is always immaculate is because I nearly always post from my computer, if my spelling isn't perfect you can generally bet I'm at the library or a friends house.

Exactly what i thought, hence the reason i jumped straight in - and then got blasted with that music when i visited the site...

I don't know why you needed to negrep my last post. I was just trying to give you honest advice; autoplaying is a bad idea for the following reasons:

• People don't expect it when it blasts out of their speakers.
• It increases the time and bandwidth needed to download the page.
• If people don't share your tastes in music, it can really turn them off your page.
• It doesn't add anything to the user experience in accessing your website.
• Perhaps I'm blind, but I can't see any way to turn it off; thus you're forcing people to actually turn off their computer speakers. The average person would find it easier to close the page than manually turn off their speakers.

A low volume theme of the natural oddworld music wouldn't be too bad.
