Oddworld Merch?
Hey, I was just wandering, what types of oddworld merchandise is there?
I know theres tee's, the games....But what else? And what type of merchandise SHOULD they make, like oddworld mugs, oddworld-styled laptops (kind of like that commercial where they are all dancing about with there customized laptops, except there would be a badass oddworld background already in the back and other types of things...Yeah) and oddworld backpacks? :O Any suggestions, people? |
There are Abe's Exoddus whoopee cushions.
:
Change my mind with a soundbite. |
There's an image in another thread.
Do they make Abe plushies? That'd be sweeeeeet.
I can confirm that Abe's Exoddus whoopie cushions exist. It was on ebay the other week.
The AE whoopee cushions were recalled due to poor quality.
live ammo pluchies...
The AO whoopie cushions were recalled due to poor quality. The AE whoopie cushions made it out there.

I've got an AE whoopie cushion around somewhere...somewhere being the operative word.
What there need to be are toys, like an Abe figure or a Slig one. Molluck with removable suit... |
theres Abe's oddysee T-shirts oh and i've seen a Soulstorm brew glass, thing
To be honest, if new Oddworld merchandise came out I probably wouldn't buy it. The reason I'd like to have merchandise is because it's rare and limited, but if it's new, wouldn't everyone have them?
So you'd be a non-conformist?
I would defiantly buy any Oddworld merchandise if the opportunity arose. |
One German company started making abe statuettes, but they weren't licenced so OWI made them stop.

I don't even like that Abe statuette, it feels like it lacks something, it feels unfinished.
:
Weren't there also real life versions of Magog Cartel products, which were supposedly even more disgusting than the fictional ones?
Those unlicensed Abe statues sure are ugly and off-model. I wouldn’t want one.
I might make myself a Slig hand-puppet one of these days.
Sooty, Sweep, Sue and Slig? I like it. I like it very much.
Anyone know were i can get a AO or AE poster? i really want it.
I have the oddworld book and it says there are: Mugs, whoopie cushios, drinks, bottles, elum chub jerky, scrab jerky, paramite jerky, renegade german company made oddworld figures only like 10 around go for £3k
I used to have an AE poster (Abe's wanted poster) I pilfered from a magazine when I first got the game...probably very hard to find now though

Sorry, U isn't around today, so he can't. I could explain, but this shall do it for me:
http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=15008 You may be new, but you must stick to the topic. There are different parts of the forum for different discussions. I would seriously consider looking at the rules and what have you before posting, or you'll likely piss people off. |
too late, he pissed me off.
top tip: use emoticons and literature symbols in moderation. @Scrabtrapman: is that the Oddworld Inhabitants artwork book, or something else? |

OWI were better off because the marketplace was not being flooded with poor quality merchandise that would reflect badly on them as a company.
:
As a company, OWI was a fraction of the size Disney was in terms of wealth and popularity.
I have a vague recollection of a small catalog being in the back of the Abe's Exoddus manual. I think they sold shirts with the different mudokon cartoon expression faces on them.
:
Perhaps OWI intended/intends to make their own statuettes. Perhaps not. But a self-respecting company doesn't let someone wreck havoc on their intellectual property. Without a contract, there's no quality control, and poor work would reflect negatively on them because people assume they're properly licensed. Disney rabidly sues (or sends cease and desist) companies that illegally produce Disney products. Its just that, since Disney is a huge property, there are many more companies illegally producing products and they can't get them all (especially since copyright laws get hazy outside of the native country). OWI had to deal with one, which is much easier to handle. |
yup this guy is right... best first post since a long time
