Notpron (V2)

I'd like to give this another go and see those interested in playing this game are willing to help each other out and get to the ending together.

What is Notpron?
For those who have never heard of it; Notpron is a huge digital puzzle/riddle game which is claimed to be the hardest on the internet. To solve each level you will need logic, time and the ability to think out of the box. There are no rules as to how you get to the next level, as long as you get there. If you think you found some clever way of getting around a level and into the next one, chances are that you simply found the solution.

How many levels are there?
There are currently 142 levels to beat. They are divided in 82 positive levels (1 - 82), 45 negative levels (0 - minus 45), 14 greek levels (Alpha - Nu) and the final level (< /notpron >).

Why would I hurt my brain on this?
Next to some braintraining and a good deal of fun in doing it together with friends, you also get a certificate if you manage to beat every single level without cheating, for what it's worth.

What about the walkthroughs I see on the net?
The puzzles and passwords of certain levels are changed regularly to prevent any walkthrough being accurate for long. There are cheating traps which you can fall into if you enter a previous password to get to a new level. These traps log your data. If you are caught cheating at Notpron you will not receive the certificate.

Playing the game
For those who want to participate, say so in this topic and I'll add you to the list below. As long as you're trying to beat the game, keep us updated on your progress as I'll update that as well.

Now, before you start posting away with hints and solutions please read some rules and tips about Notpron.

1. Do NOT post solutions!!!
Please do NOT post direct solutions to Notpron levels. You take the fun out of someone elses game if you do. Posting hints is allowed but don't make it so incredibly obvious. For example, if a certain level is playing a piece of music which holds the key to the next level, don't go posting the title and artist. Give subtle hints which give people the means to progress without having the puzzle solved for them.

2. Avoiding Spoilers in Google
To avoid spoilers and solutions to Notpron levels while you're looking on Google for answers, add this to the search bar:

:

-notpron -"not pr0n" -level -spoiler -riddle -password
Make sure you include the - signs. This way it will exclude any website giving information about passwords and stuff.

3. Source Code
Many of the Notpron levels have hints or valuable information hidden away in the page source code. You can get to this source code by finding an option called 'View Source'. You'll find it under the view menu in most browsers.

4. Save Level Status
To save your progress in Notpron just bookmark the pages and write down the usernames and passwords in a notepad file or something.

5. Browsers
It should not really matter which browser you use, but the riddles were originally designed for Internet Explorer. Should you run into any problems with sound not playing or something else, see if a different browser fixes what you assume is a problem.

Majic 11-25-2008 04:58 AM

Oh man, I remember having a go at that back in the day. I also remember giving up on it. It's minutes of fun until you decide to either kill yourself or go look at porn.

OANST 11-25-2008 06:02 AM

I think I got to level 9 before giving up when we did this last time.

Havoc 11-25-2008 06:14 AM

Give it another try and see if we can get further this time.

Anonyman! 11-25-2008 06:27 AM

Add me. Please. I'm trying for you.

Havoc 11-25-2008 07:16 AM

Aw how lovely.

Edit: And it looks like I'm stuck on number 15...

Anonyman! 11-25-2008 09:32 AM

I made it to eleven. I'll start again later.

OANST 11-25-2008 10:44 AM

Which level had the guitar on it? 'Cause that's the one I didn't make it past.

Nemo 11-25-2008 10:56 AM

I'm stuck at level 5. I'll work my way through it later.

Havoc 11-25-2008 12:54 PM

Oanst: That's level 8.

Oanst: That's level 8.

Alright, I suck. Shutup.

Havoc 11-25-2008 01:52 PM

Nemo is only at 5 if that makes you feel any better...

I think that's where I got up to last time also. This time I got to level 4; worked out how to come up with the password but was too lazy to interpret it.

Killy 11-25-2008 09:40 PM

Stuck at level 6... I remember playing this several years ago, but I got tired of it. I like these kind of games though, so I'm going to give this another go.

Havoc 11-26-2008 12:38 AM

The level with the guitar (lvl 8) has the words Jay Pack, which is the most valuable hint in this level. Try saying it out loud and you'll have the first half of your answer.

Once you figured that out you need something to apply it to. Look for something related to your first hint above and if you can't find what you're looking for, maybe you should force it.

Bullet Magnet 11-26-2008 04:01 AM

I'm at seven, and I can't find a password box.

Havoc 11-26-2008 06:09 AM

Level 7: No password box in that level. Check the source and take a second look at stuff which might seem random at first.

Level 4: Since this level has a sort of 'you won't ever figure this out if you don't already know it' style here's a vital piece of information: Morse

Level 6: Check the bottom of the page and check the page source. Use Google to your advantage.

More legal hints are given on the official forum here:

EDIT:
Ok, Level 8 is near impossible. Havoc, I've found out some of it, but I dunno what I need to do now.

PM might work better.

Yes, I found that clue ages ago, but that password box is gone too.

Havoc 11-26-2008 09:50 AM

There is no password box. The solution to level 7 is something different. Find the answer that to the question asked at the bottom of the source code. Also mind the hint near the top of the source about Germany. When you find the answer, enter it where it's being asked in the right way.

Yeah, thanks for the obviousness. I just couldn't be bothered finding a key and interpretting it.

Yes, yes, I've already worked that out, but I think I'm being screwed. When I start a new game, I don't even have to put in passwords any more. I just click on the picture and I'm immediately taken to the next page.

Salamander 11-26-2008 05:26 PM

I'm on level 4 at the moment. I've got the username and the password, but it's not being accepted at the moment. I'll try again later.

Killy 11-27-2008 12:41 PM

Worked my way around level 6 and 7, it was right in front of me the whole time... Currently stuck at level 8. But I think I'm onto something.

Bullet Magnet 11-27-2008 02:07 PM

Level ten...

moxco 11-27-2008 09:06 PM

I'm stuck on level 6 -_-

Is it just me or is level 5 too easy?

abe619 11-28-2008 12:16 AM

i'm in.

Havoc 11-28-2008 02:32 AM

Moxco: Level 5 is easy when you know what do to, just like any other riddle. :p

Yes, but compared to level four and six it was REALLY easy.

Bullet Magnet 11-28-2008 04:00 AM

Nine was the easiest so far.

Havoc 11-28-2008 06:00 AM

Yea 9 was pretty obvious. I'm at level 20 now which also seems fairly obvious but I haven't had time yet to test out my theory.

Salamander 11-28-2008 03:41 PM

I'm on level 6 now. level 5 was way harder than level 4. Once I saw the morse code on level 4 it was really easy.

EDIT: Level 7.

Stop bragging you're making me feel bad...

Havoc 11-28-2008 05:40 PM

I'm not bragging, that quote is.

Killy 12-02-2008 08:13 AM

I've reached level 11. Funny how some days you can't solve anything at all, then the day after you can roll past 3 levels with ease.
